Abstract

The indicator comprises a circular corrugated diaphragm (4) exposed to tyre pressure and to a reference pressure in a chamber (3). Any drop in tyre pressure causes diaphragm to move away from contact (5) and break a circuit thus providing an indication. The detector may be diametrically opposed to the tyre inflation valve or may be combined with that valve. The pressure chamber (3) contains air or other gas at atmospheric or higher pressure and provides temperature compensation and assists resilient return of diaphragm. Small magnets may be provided on the diaphragm (4) and contact (5).
