Abstract

A plaster forming an anti-bacterial protection for a wound, esp. when an intravenous catheter is applied, has a pad soaked in a viscous antibiotic. This is sealed upwards by a cap, and there is around the cap an adhesive covering strip. Beneath, the adhesive strip and the pad are protected by a tear-off film. System makes it possible to leave an intravenous catheter in place for 10-12 days without the possibility of penetration of the subcutaneous tissue and the vein by skin bacteria resulting in inflammation of the skin and/or thrombophlebitis.
