Dieser Weg ist insbesondere in der Vergangenheit bei der Einführung der Nachtspeicherheizung zur Auffüllung der sogenannten "Nachtlasttäler" erfolgreich beschritten worden. Durch eine solche Fernsteuerung der Nachtspeicherheizgeräte hat man in der Vergangenheit das Problem der Nachtlasttäler nahezu beseitigt. Ein weiteres Problem stellen noch die zu verschiedenen Tageszeiten, insbesondere mittags und abends auftretenden Lastspitzen dar.
