Abstract

Input voltages at terminals (A, B) are rectified, smoothed and applied by a thyristor (Th 1) to isolating capacitors (C1-C4). After a time (tx) has elapsed, the first thyristor (Th 1) is blocked and the second thyristor (Th 2) is ignited so that a discharge current flows from the positive electrode of the capacitor (C1) through the second thyristor (Th 2), capacitors (C4, C3) diode (D7), load resistor (RL), diode (D10) and capacitor (C2) to the negative electrode of (C1). Connections between capacitors (C1, C2) and (C4, C3) are earthed for positive voltage through diodes (D5, D6). When one of the terminals (B) is earthed, a diode (D2) ensures the blocking of negative input voltages, and when terminal the second terminal (A) is earthed, this is done by diode (D1).
