Abstract

In the prodn. of electrolytic condensers by applying a Ag coating to a valve metal part, with a dielectric and a semiconductive coating, and soldering this to the cathode terminal, the Ag coating is applied by dipping the part in a suspension of Ag in an organic solvent and baking at elevated temp. and then the cathode terminal is soldered to the Ag coating, without flux. Detriment to the condenser due to humidity, voltage and temp is avoided and prodn. is simplified. Dipping in a graphite emulsion and the use of flux, which can easily cause contamination, are eliminated. Z values approaching the theoretical Z value of the condenser can be obtd. Other electrical properties are also influenced favourably, e.g. noise potential, tan delta and temp. dependence of the Z value. The process can be used in mass prodn.

Description

Verfahren zuln Herstellen von Elektrolytkondensatoren. Process for the manufacture of electrolytic capacitors.

The invention relates to a method for producing electrolytic capacitors, in the one coated with a dielectric and a semiconducting layer Valve metal body for contacting the semiconducting layer, a silver layer applied and a cathode connection is soldered to the latter.

In the case of electrolytic capacitors, e.g. tantalum capacitors, usually a method is used for the cathode-side contacting, in which after the Generation of the solid electrolyte by pyrolysis of a manganese (II) salt and reforming the condenser is immersed in a colloidal graphite solution and at a temperature is burned in at over 1000C. The capacitor is then converted into a silver suspension immersed in lacquer or synthetic resin solution and also at temperatures of im generally branded 10000 and above. The cathode connection is then in the form of a wire or strip, by soldering with the use of rosin manufactured as a soldering aid.

It has now been shown that a contact made in this way with different, undergoes irreversible changes due to external loads, in particular, there are very strong changes in the resistance values during loads due to tension, humidity and temperatures. According to different variants Capacitors manufactured using the usual contacting method mentioned no 24 hours of exposure to 100 * relative humidity at 800C and applied Withstand operating voltage without changes.

The reasons for this include the swellability of graphite. As well as Colloidal as well as finely ground graphite change the Z-values of capacitors for moisture-voltage-temperature loads. On the other hand are swellings the organic binders, which are found in graphite and silver suspensions for the purpose of good adhesive strength are also significant for the change.

In addition, it could be determined that also purely chemical Effects of organic compounds such as acrylates, polyesters, paraffins, epoxy resins on the pyrolytically generated manganese dioxide layer in the sense of a change in the Z values of capacitors occur.

The invention is based on the object of these disruptive changes due to the loads on the capacitor caused by moisture, voltages and Avoid temperatures to a large extent and at the same time simplify the manufacturing process to reach. As a solution to this problem, the invention provides that at the beginning mentioned method the silver layer by dipping the valve metal body in a Slurry (suspension) of silver powder in an organic solvent the valve metal body is applied and the cathode connection after a short drying time is soldered at elevated temperature without soldering aids. The advantage of the invention lies in the fact that there is no need to immerse the metal body in a graphite emulsion and that, moreover, no auxiliary soldering tool is necessary, which is easy to get dirty Cause.

Instead of just silver powder, the invention can also be with a Slurry of silver powder and silver lactate in an organic solvent carry out. Benzene, toluene, xylene or the like are preferably used as solvents Fabrics. The capacitors are immersed in the slurry, then at about 80 ° C and then heated to 150-300 ° C, whereupon the cathode connection is soldered on0 Except for the organic solvent, which can be used without leaving any residue Drying can be removed, this contacting process does not need any further organic auxiliaries, and it results in z-scores with very little variability.

An even more stable contact system is obtained when the capacitor in a suspension of a mixture of 1 - 99% silver powder, 1 - 99 * silver salt of a carboxylic acid is immersed in e.g. benzene, toluene or xylene, whereby the Silver salt after evaporation of the solvent at a temperature of 150 - 300 ° C is decomposed and burned in. A contacting layer produced in this way can be soldered without the aid of a soldering aid. In particular, it enables Z-values to be achieved which are close to the theoretical Z-value of the capacitance. Also be a row other electrical properties, such as noise voltage, tg 5, temperature dependence of the Z-value has an extremely favorable influence.

Als Silbersalze kommen in Anwendung die Salze von ein- oder mehrbasischen Karbonsäuren, wie: Essigsäure, Propionsäure, Milchsäure, Oxalsäure, Malonsäure, Apfelsäure, Weinsäure, Pyromellitsäure und Analoge. The salts of monobasic or polybasic ones are used as silver salts Carboxylic acids such as: acetic acid, propionic acid, lactic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, Malic acid, tartaric acid, pyromellitic acid and analogs.

In the decomposition of the organic metal salts it is caused by the fine Metal particles in statu nascendi a mechanical link between silver powder on the one hand and manganese dioxide on the other. The resulting solidification is more durable against moisture than any previous adhesive method. So far in metallizations known in the art, such as spraying, vapor deposition, cathode sputtering, are complex and time-consuming individual processes, their success and consistency depends on the exact conditions to be observed. The inventive method is to be carried out as a mass process on many thousands of capacitors at the same time.
