Abstract

The fuel is injected at a tangent to the spark plug points which joins the centre axis of the combustion chamber formed in the piston crown. The fuel is injected at slow running and part load speeds shortly before top dead centre compression stroke. At full load the fuel is injected during the induction stroke, preferably at its commencement. In the transfer stage between slow running and full load, the fuel injection before top dead centre becomes less and the injection volume during the induction stroke greater.
