Abstract

The motor has a gear drive which drives simultaneously a box spanner, which tightens a nut, and the female threaded end of a bolt tensioning spindle onto the bolt, protruding through the nut. When the nut meets its abutting surface the whole of the motor torque is applied by the gear drive to the box spanner and the tensioning spindle stops rotating and has hydraulic pressure applied beneath a piston carried on its end away from the bolt. Rapid tightening of nuts and bolts is achieved.
