Description
The invention relates to an electrode arrangement for intracardiac stimulation of the heart, consisting of an elongated electrical conductor which is provided with electrical insulation, and from an electrode head provided on the end of the conductor facing the heart for the Delivery of the stimulation impulses to the heart, whereby the surface of the electrode head is partly made of insulating material and partly made of electrically conductive contact material electrically connected to the conductor consists. Such an electrode arrangement is known from DE-OS 21 33 304.
In known electrode arrangements of this type, the metallic electrode head is relatively small and light, so that on the one hand it is difficult to turn your head on one To place enough stimulus-sensitive part of the myocardium and on the other hand there is a risk that the elephant head, because of its small mass, is displaced by the movements of the horn and attached to one Place of the endocards / myocards / u comes to the the energy content of a travel pulse is no longer sufficient to stimulate the heart.
In US-PS ii 67 339 an electrode arrangement is described which is to be attached to the outer wall of the heart, in which the side of the electrode facing the heart wall is provided with conductive material. Because of its design, this electrode is not suitable as an electrode for intracardial stimulation of the heart.
In the aforementioned DE-OS 21 33 304 is a pacemaker electrode with a supporting hook that pops open on the electrode head for attaching the electrode in the heart tissue. The electrode head consists of a metallic hollow cylinder, one end of which over the end of the connection with the Power source producing conductor is pushed and rests firmly on this. The electrode head is not much larger than the conductor and due to its hollow interior compared to that Head light, so that the electrode head only through the support hook introduced into the heart tissue on the Heart wall is applicable. With carrying hooks, however, it is possible that they can damage the heart wall.
The invention is based on the object of providing an electrode arrangement of the type mentioned at the beginning train that they are in good contact with the inner heart wall with pulses of relatively low energy content can be operated and at the same time attached without damaging the heart wall and also in its Position on the heart wall can be changed.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the electrode head has a volume of 15 now 1 to 60 mm 1 and a mass of 0.3 g to 2.0 g and that the contact material is distributed as evenly as possible over the entire surface of the electrode head .
With this design, the surface of the contact material can be dimensioned in such a way that it approximates the The area of the known smallest electrode heads corresponds in this way to that of the contact areas the resulting current density is correspondingly high. The enlargement of the surface de? Electrode head by insulating material causes the head to be larger and mainly heavier, making it simpler and can be placed more securely on the endocard / myocard and also lie more securely when the heart moves remains- The proposed design of the electrode head also makes it possible to use the contact material on the Surface of the electrode head to distribute, so that when placing the head on the endocardium / myocardium there is a greater likelihood of contact points on a particularly sensitive part of the Myocards come to rest.
In an embodiment of the invention, the surface of the contact material is no larger than 15 mm and is preferably 5 mm 2 . In addition, the contact material is preferably arranged in strips, spirals or points. The electrode head can then have a relatively large volume and weight. When the electrode head is designed according to the invention, the electrode head can be grounded in an essentially cylindrical shape, and its free end can be rounded. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the contact material consists of strip-shaped material. The width of the band is between about 0.01 mm and 0.4 mm and is preferably 0.2 mm. The tape is preferably arranged in mutually parallel paths in the axial direction of the roller-shaped electrode head or is wound in a helical manner around the roller-shaped part of the electrode head. The distance between the helical turns is preferably between about 0.5 mm and 5 mm and is preferably 2 mm.
Bei dieser Ausbildungsform ist die Verbindung des freien Endes des langgestrecktenThe weight of the electrode head can thereby be determined in a simple manner within the scope of the invention increase (whereby the safe position in the right ventricle is achieved) and the production simplify the fact that the electrode head consists of a metallic core, i.e. an electrically conductive core Material with protruding parts, with the space between each part having electrical insulating material is filled. The protruding parts can be rib-shaped, like Screw threads or hedgehog-like shapes, so that the strip-shaped, spiral-shaped or punctiform Arrangement of the contact material is achieved on the electrode head. In this form of training, the Connection of the free end of the elongated
