Das technische Calciumcyanamid, welches unter dem Namen Kalkstickstoff oder Stickstoffkalk sich im Handel befindet, zeigt den Nachteil, daß es stark staubend und ätzend ist. Bei der praktischen Verwendung des Materials als Düngemittel zeigen sich deshalb gewisse Nachteile. Es ist wiederholt versucht worden, diese Nachteile dadurch zu beheben, daß man das Material mit Wasser, Öl, kalkbindenden Zusätzen, wie Chlorcalcium-, Chlormagnesium.-Lösungen behandelte. Es ist auch auf diese Weise ein Material erhalten worden, welches für eine gewisse kurze Zeit nach der Behandlung nicht staubte. Alle so behandelten Materialien zeigten aber den Nachteil, daß nach relativ kurzer Zeit, namentlich durch Einwirkung von Feuchtigkeit und Kohlensäure der Luft, wiederum die fest gewordene Substanz zerfiel und stärker wie früher staubte.The technical calcium cyanamide, which is known as calcium cyanamide or nitrogen lime is in the trade shows the disadvantage that it is very dusty and corrosive. Man bekömmt auf diese Weise ein hartes Produkt, welches sich zerkleinern läßt, und das in diesem Zustande nicht staubt und ohne Stickstoffverlust sehr lange haltbar ist. Ein Vorteil dieses Verfahrens besteht auch darin, daß das beim Zerkleinern abfallende Pulver, oder das Pulver, welches man bei weitgehender Zerkleinerung erhält, durchaus staubfrei und gleichfalls ohne Stickstoffverluste haltbar ist.
