Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Vorrichtung der im Oberbegriff des Patenanspruches 1 genannten Art.
Eine derartige Vorrichtung ist bereits bekannt (CH-PS 4 63 088) und dient zum Versiegeln von
Verpackungslaminat, das mindestens eine elektrisch leitfähige Metallschicht und eine Thermoplastschicht
aufweist, die zum Versiegeln dient. Das Erhitzen der Thermoplastschicht erfolgt beim Stand der Technik
durch das induktive Erhitzen der Metallschicht mittels der elektrischen Spule, die jedoch eine große Induktanz
und große Trägheit sowie große transiente Ströme aufweist.
Darüber hinaus ist es beim Versiegeln von tütenförmigen
Verpackungsbehältern bekannt, die hochstehende Verschlußrippe mittels zweier Backen zusammenzupressen
und dafür zu sorgen, daß in der Metallschicht eine induktive Erwärmung erfolgt, die durch impulsweises
Erhitzen der Versiegelungsbacke mit Hilfe von Hochfrequnenzströmen vorgenommen wird. Hierzu
dient ein mit Kühlwasser gekühlter Kupferleiter, der in einer der Backen angeordnet ist.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, das Versiegeln mit Hilfe einer einfach aufgebauten Vorrichtung
derart zu verbessern, insbesondere zu beschleunigen, daß mit dem Siegelungsbacken jeweils zwei im
Abstand voneinander befindliche Siegelnähte entstehen, um zu einem produktiven Verpackungsverfahren
beizutragen, bei dem die Verpackungen trotzdem auch wirklich dicht versiegelt sind.
Die Erfindung ist im Patentanspruch 1 gekennzeichnet. Zweckmäßigerweise sind die Schiene und der Kern
in elektrisch isolierendes Material des Siegelungsbakkens eingebettet.
Zu erwähnen ist noch, daß das Einbetten von Spulenschienen in Preßbacken an sich bekannt ist
(FR-PS 12 05 655).
Die bei der Erfindung zur Anwendung gelangenden elektrischen Wechselströme sollten eine Frequenz
zwischen 0,5 und 2 MHz aufweisen.
Anhand der Zeichnung ist ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung näher erläutert. Darin zeigt
F i g. 1 in stark vergrößerter Darstellung einen Teilschnitt durch zwei Verpackungslaminate, die an der
Versiegelungszone durch zwei Siegelungsbacken zusammengepreßt sind, und
Fig.2 einen Siegelungsbacken in schematischer
Darstellung und den elektrischen Anschluß der aus zwei Windungen bestehenden Spulenschiene an einen Hochfrequenzgenerator.
Jede Lage des Verpackungslaminats 6 besteht aus einer Trägerschicht 10, beispielsweise aus Papier oder
Pappe, einer inneren Thermoplastschicht 2 zum Versiegeln aus beispielsweise Polyäthylen oder Polypropylen,
einer Metallschicht 1, vorzugsweise aus Aluminiumfolie, und einer Laminierungsschicht 9, die als
Bindeschicht zwischen der Trägerschicht 10 und der Metallschicht 1 wirkt
Im vorliegenden Fall kann angenommen werden, daß das Verpackungsliminat 6 in Form einer Bahn
hergestellt ist, die zu einem Schlauch umgebildet ist, dessen Längskanten, beispielsweise durch eine überlappte
Naht, miteinander verbunden sind. Der Schlauch, dessen innere Schicht also aus der Thermoplastschicht 2
besteht, kann daher mit dem abzupackenden Füllgut gefüllt werden, indem diese fortschreitend eingegossen
wird. Anschließend wird der Schlauch in Einzelverpakkungseinheiten unterteilt, indem entlang der Schlauchachse
in den erforderlichen Abständen voneinander quergerichtete Schweißnähte entlang verhältnismäßig
schmaler Versiegelungszonen 7 hergestellt werden.
Dieses Querschweißen des Schlauches wird in vorteilhafter Weise mittels der Vorrichtung nach der
Erfindung durchgeführt, die aus zwei Preßeinheiten bzw. Siegelungsbacken 4,5 besteht, die gegeneinander-
und auseinanderbewegbar sind und aus elektrisch isolierfähigem Material, beispielsweise Phenoplast,
Steatit, Gießharz od. dgl. hergestellt sind. Der Siegelungsbacken 4 ist mit einer als Schiene 3 ausgebildeten
Arbeitsspule ausgestattet, die an einen Hochfrequenzgenerator Ganschließbar ist und in der ein ferromagnetischer
Kern 8 gegebenenfalls ein Ferritkern, angeordnet ist.
Das Schweißen erfolgt durch Gegeneinanderpressen der Laminate 6 durch die Siegelungsbacken 4,5 die die
dazwischengelegte Schlauchzone derart flachpressen, daß die Thermoplastschichten 2 gegeneinandergebogen
und gegeneinandergepreßt werden. Wenn dann die Siegelungsbacken 4,5 ihre Preßstellung erreicht haben,
wird von dem Hochfrequenzgenerator G ein hochfrequenter Wechselstrom von zwischen 0,5 und 2 MHz,
vorzugsweise von ca. 1,5MHz, durch die Arbeitsspule geschickt, die ein hochfrequentes elektromagnetisches
Feld erzeugt, das durch die Metallschicht 1 hindurchgeht.
Der Ferrit- oder Eisenpulverkern 8 dient zur Erhöhung der Induktion in der Arbeitsspule. Da durch
die Metallschicht 1, die sich in einem Abstand von ca. 0,3 bis 1 mm von der Spule entfernt befindet, ein
hochfrequentes elektromagnetisches Feld hindurchgeht, werden in der Metallschicht 1 sogenannte Wirbelströme
erzeugt, die in denjenigen Teilen der Metallschicht 1,
die dem Wechselfeld ausgesetzt sind, eine Wärmeentwicklung hervorrufen. Die in der Metallschicht 1
erzeugte Wärme wird den benachbarten Thermoplastschichten 2 zugeleitet Diese werden in einem solchen
Maß erhitzt, daß sie zu einer homogenen Naht verschmolzen werden, die nach Abschalten des
Wechselfeldes abgekühlt und eine mechanisch dauerhafte Dichtung 7 bildet Nach Beendigung des
Schweißvorganges werden die Schweißeinheiten bzw. Siegelungsbacken 4, 5 vom Schweißmaterial entfernt
und an einer weiteren Zone des Schlauches abermals angelegt Dieser Vorgang wird laufend wiederholt
Die Anwendung des Verfahrens setzt voraus, daß das versiegelbare Material mindetstens eine Metallschicht
bzw. -folie, vorzugsweise eine Aluminiumfolie, enthält und daß diese direkt mit der Thermoplastschicht 2 aus
siegelbarem Material laminiert ist denn die für das Versiegeln erforderliche Wärme wird zuerst in der
Metallschicht 1 erzeugt und anschließend der Thermoplastschicht 2 aus versiegelbarem Kunststoff zugeführt.
Der in F i g. 2 gezeigte Siegelungsbacken 4 veranschaulicht die Ausbildung der Arbeitsspule, die hier aus
zwei in einem Epoxydharz eingebetteten Windungen einer aus Kupfer bestehenden Schiene 3 besteht Die
Spulenanschlüsse 11 sind an den Hochfrequenzgenerator G angeschlossen, der einen hochfrequenten Strom
von ca. 1,5MHz liefert der einen wechselnden
Magnetfluß erzeugt, dessen maximale Feldstärke entlang der Windungen der Schiene 3 konzentriert ist.
Da bei einer gemäß F i g. 2 ausgebildeten Versiegelungseinheit das Wechselfeld entlang der Windungen in
hohem Maße konzentriert ist, werden beim Versiegeln zwei Schweißnähte gebildet, die sich im Abstand A
voneinander befinden. Der geschweißte Schlauch wird zweckmäßigerweise durch Abschneiden zwischen den
Schweißzonen bzw. Versiegelungszonen in die vollständig versiegelten Verpackungseinheiten unterteilt. Um
eine befriedigende Schweißung über die ganze Schlauchbre-te zu gewährleisten soll die Schiene 3
länger sein als die Breite des plattgedrückten Schlauches, so daß sich sämtliche Teile des Schlauches im
Bereich der Spule bzw. Schiene 3 befinden.
Das Verfahren kann als ein Verfahren zum indirekten Erhitzen einer Laminatschichi durch Wärmeerzeugung
in einer benachbarten Schicht des gleichen Laminates bezeichnet werden. Im vorliegenden Fall ist die zu
erhitzende Schicht eine Schicht aus schweißbarem Thermoplast, die auf die Schweibtemperatur erhitzt
werden soll. Dieses Erhitzen der Schicht aus versiegelbarem Material wird in solcher Weise durchgeführt daß
eine benachbarte dünne Metallschicht durch ein hochfrequentes elektromagnetisches Feld erhitzt wird,
das in der Metallschicht Wirbelstromverluste hervorruft Der Wirbelstrom in der Metallschicht erhitzt das
Material der Metallfolie schnell, während die benachbarten Thermoplastschichten von der direkten Einwirkung
des hochfrequenten elektromagnetischen Feldes nahezu unbeeinflußt bleiben. Durch die Tatsache, daß
die erhitzte Metallschicht der Thermoplastschicht benachbart angeordnet ist, wird diese durch Konvektion
von der Metallschicht her, also indirekt, auf die Schweißtemperatur erhitzt.
Es hat sich gezeigt daß durch die Vorrichtung gemäß der Erfindung äußerst kurze Versiegelungszeiten erzielt
werden können, da die Wärme nicht erst durch wärmeisolierende Papierschichten 10 hindurchgeleitet
zu werden braucht und außerdem Beschädigungen durch Versengen der Außenseite des Verpackungsmaterials
vermieden werden, da ja die Arbeitsspule bzw.
. Schiene 3 oder der Siegelungsbacken 4 nur äußerst mäßig erwärmt werden.
Die Vorrichtung kann natürlich auch für andere Verpackungsmaterialien als solche verwendet werden,
die entsprechend der obigen Beschreibung erst zu einem Schlauch umgeformt und dann mittels quergerichteter
Versiegelungszonen unterteilt werden sollen.
Es besteht natürlich auch die Möglichkeit, in jeder der Siegelungsbacken eine Arbeitsspule vorzusehen.
Claims (2)
1. Vorrichtung zum thermischen Versiegeln von aus einem Schlauch geformten und aus einem Verpackungslaminat
bestehenden Verpackungen, wobei das Laminat außer einer elektrisch leitfähigen Metallschicht eine Thermoplastschicht aufweist und
die zu verbindenden Laminate mit Hilfe von Siegelungsbacken so zusammendrückbar sind, daß sich
die Thermoplastschichten berühren, und mindestens eine Metallschicht durch ein im Bereich der Versiegelungszone
im wesentlichen orthogonal bzw. unter rechtem Winkel zur Ebene der Metallschicht
angelegtes und über eine elektrische Spule im Siegelungsbacken von einer Spannungsquelle erzeugtes
elektromagnetisches Wechselfeld induktiv so erhitzbar ist, daß die an die benachbarten Thermoplastschichten
abgegebene Wärme diese in der Versiegelungszone aufschmelzen und dann durch Abkühlen
verschmelzen, und bei der die Spule einen magnetisierbaren Kern aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß die Spule (3) aus einer Schiene mit zwei Windungen besteht, deren Abstand über die Laminatbreite gleich ist, wobei die
Spule (3) einen Abstand von etwa 0,3 bis 1 mm von der Metallschicht (1) hat.
2. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß die Schiene (3) und der Kern (8) in elektrisch isolierendes Material des Siegelungsbakkens
(4) eingebettet sind.
