Abstract

Housing (1) for receiving a plurality of accumulators, which are intended as an energy source for the propulsion of motor vehicles, in particular automobiles, wherein the housing (1) has a bottom wall (2), associated circumferential first and second side walls (3, 4) and possibly a cover (5) removably connected to the side walls (3, 4), characterized in that two opposite first side walls (3) are interconnected by stiffeners (6), which preferably rest against the bottom wall (2) and / or preferably connected to the bottom wall (2).

Description

  • The invention relates to a housing for receiving a plurality of accumulators, which are intended as an energy source for the propulsion of motor vehicles, especially automobiles, said housing having a bottom wall, associated circumferential first and second side walls and optionally a releasably connected to the side walls lid ,
  • In the prior art, it is known to equip vehicles alone or in addition with electric motor drives. These electric motor drives must be supplied with a power source. This power source is constituted by a plurality of accumulators arranged and installed in the vehicle.
  • It is known to arrange the plurality of accumulators in a housing, for example made of sheet steel, so that a proper mounting and attachment to a body structure of the vehicle is made possible and an encapsulated arrangement of the batteries is achieved. In this case, the housing is preferably designed so that it has a bottom wall, peripheral side walls and a cover connected to the side walls, so that a closed housing unit can be formed. The lids are more suitably connected to the housing. For example, they can be bolted to the housing to achieve a secure connection. It is also possible to form the cover as molded as the housing, so also with a bottom wall and circumferential side walls, in which case the lid oriented in the opposite direction to the lower part placed on this and connected thereto, screwed or otherwise secured thereto.
  • A problem that arises with such a design and arrangement is that the housing can not withstand the stresses that act on the housing in the event of a crash, so that the housing can be excessively deformed and the accumulators therein can be damaged, which greater damage may result.
  • Such cases are regularly installed in vehicles such that two parallel, preferably longer side walls of the housing are aligned parallel to the direction of travel of the vehicle and two walls, preferably shorter walls, are directed transversely to the direction of travel. The walls, which are directed transversely to the direction of travel, are adequately secured by the crash systems of the vehicle in the front area and in the rear area of the vehicle, because sufficient energy is dissipated by these crash systems, so that in the event of a crash, the housing in this direction no must absorb higher forces. In the event of a side crash, however, the housings are not adequately secured, so there is a great danger that the housing will be destroyed or damaged in the event of a crash, thus damaging or destroying the accumulators located in the housing.
  • Based on this prior art, the present invention seeks to find an alternative and easy way to create a housing generic type, which is suitable in the event of a crash of the vehicle equipped to withstand the high loads of the crash without the housing is excessively deformed or destroyed, so that the accumulators contained therein are held securely.
  • To solve this problem, the invention proposes that two opposite first side walls are connected to each other by stiffeners, which preferably bear against the bottom wall and / or are preferably connected to the bottom wall.
  • According to this embodiment, the housing on the inside between the opposite first side walls on stiffeners which connect the side walls together and which are preferably also fixed to the bottom wall. In this way, a stiffening of the housing is achieved, which is suitable and intended to ensure the dimensional stability of the housing in the event of a crash.
  • The stiffeners may be suitably connected to the side walls and / or to the bottom wall, for example by stitching, riveting, gluing, screwing or in any other suitable manner.
  • Preferably, the stiffeners abut the bottom wall, which improves rigidity. The stiffeners are also intended to form a detent for battery cells which are inserted into the housing.
  • Preferably, it is provided that the stiffeners are preferably distributed uniformly spaced over the length of the housing.
  • For example, the stiffeners can be arranged at such a distance from one another that a locking of battery cells between these stiffeners is made possible.
  • In order to achieve a further stiffening, it can also be provided that the parallel to the stiffeners extending second side walls each have in the transition to the bottom wall a further stiffness, which are attached to the second side walls and / or optionally to the bottom wall.
  • It can also be provided to improve the rigidity that at least one longitudinal stiffener is arranged, which is directed parallel to the first side walls, which crosses stiffeners and is connected to the stiffeners and / or the bottom wall.
  • It is preferably provided that the longitudinal stiffness is overlapped by the stiffeners in the crossing region.
  • It is particularly preferred that the stiffeners and optionally the longitudinal stiffeners are formed in cross-section as a flat U-profile.
  • As a result, a further improvement of the rigidity is ensured by simple means.
  • In order to allow a simple attachment and also to enable the locking of battery cell components between the stiffeners, for example, it may be provided that the legs of the U-profile-shaped stiffeners and / or longitudinal stiffeners have outwardly projecting tabs or fingers on the bottom wall concerns and if necessary connected with this.
  • Preferably, it is also provided that the stiffeners in the crossing region of the longitudinal stiffener, in particular in their legs, have recesses in which the longitudinal stiffener is inserted.
  • It is also preferably provided that the tabs or fingers form a toothing.
  • In addition, it is particularly preferred that the ends of at least some of the stiffeners in the connection region form flanges on the first side walls, which are supported on the first side walls and preferably extend over the total height of the first side walls, and which are preferably fastened to the first side walls.
  • As a result, a simple and secure mounting option is formed, which also further improves the rigidity of the overall element.
  • Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the first and second side walls of the housing form a peripheral, outwardly projecting flange edge.
  • It may also be preferred that the lid is cup-shaped, with its side walls forming an outwardly projecting flange edge.
  • In addition, it is preferably provided that the lid is placed on the housing, wherein the flange edges of the components lie on each other and are optionally connected to each other with the interposition of a seal.
  • A preferred alternative is seen in that the housing is made of steel, in particular a hot-formed or a cold-formed sheet metal part.
  • It can also be provided that the cover is made of steel, in particular a hot-formed or a cold-formed sheet metal part.
  • For the purpose of weight reduction can be provided that the lid is made of plastic.
  • For the same reason it can be provided that the lid consists of an aluminum alloy or another light metal.
  • In order to ensure a high rigidity is also provided that the stiffeners and / or the longitudinal stiffeners are each a rail made of steel, hot-formed or cold-formed.
