  • The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an edge protector which can be used with a wide variety of transport goods and with all common clamping media, but at the same time can effectively prevent damage to the transport good.   • According to the invention, an edge protector to support the securing and fastening of cargo on loading surfaces by means of clamping media comprises two support elements connected at an angle, which has a support side for placing on the cargo and a clamping side for placing the clamping media, wherein on the support side of the edge protector a flexible protective coating ( 5 ) is provided, which in particular is adaptable to the contour of the transported goods. Such an edge protector effectively prevents damage to the goods to be transported by the protective coating and, moreover, can also be adapted to the shape of the transported goods. Thus, a metal angle is generated, which due to its geometry produces the function of stable contact surfaces which can initiate the pressure and the preload forces evenly and gently over the flexible protective coating on the inside reliably into the transported goods. This flexible covering can cling to contours so that a flat fit to the transported material is created and prevents hard edges of the edge protector from coming into direct contact with the transported goods and thereby causing damage. Thus, a wide variety of goods can be secured with one and the same edge protectors. The design also makes it possible to use a wide variety of clamping media in order to exploit the possibility of using the clamping medium with compliant preload force for the respective transport item.
  • Preferably, the edge protectors as a flexible protective coating on a fabric, in particular a felt on which traces of abrasion on Transport goods prevented. Depending on the technical equipment, a fabric can effectively prevent damage due to friction on the transported goods and at the same time optimally apply the contact pressure.
  • In the case of the edge protector, at least one support element can have a guide against slippage of the clamping media. This ensures that the clamping medium is held securely on the edge protector. In particular, the guide comprises an upstand. The lateral guidance also has a statically positive effect on the stability of the edge protector. The upstand provides the additional feature that the edge saver is stackable.
  • Preferably, the guide is rounded at its edges and in particular the longitudinal ends of the upstand, so that injuries are effectively prevented.
  • The edge protector is in particular made of a metal, preferably of steel. This material has excellent pressure behavior and is also very resistant to weathering.
  • Preferably, the two support elements comprise a radius at their connection. This ensures a gentle and good power transmission of the clamping media.
  • A support element may be formed longer than the other, in particular at least half longer. As a result, the edge protector can be safely deposited on the item to be transported, in particular in the case of a box-shaped transport item without the risk of falling down.
  • Furthermore, a support element may have a curvature on the outer surface for pressing clamping media. By means of this, the edge protectors can shift the pressure from the radius to the curvature through the clamping medium and provide a firm and uniform contact pressure.
  • Preferably, the edge protector also includes a groove, which is incorporated in the support surface of the flexible Schonbelages and / or at the intersection of the support elements.
