Abstract

Decorative molding with a veneer part, in particular as a lining part for a motor vehicle, which is provided on its back with a reinforcing layer and on its visible side with a transparent cover, characterized in that on the visible side of the veneer part metallization by depositing metal is provided from the gas phase ,

Description

  • The present invention relates to a decorative molding with a decorative part, which is provided on its rear side with a reinforcing layer and on its visible side with a transparent cover. The present invention particularly relates to such a decorative molding in which the decorative part is formed by a veneer, in particular a thin-layer veneer. The reinforcing layer and the transparent cover on the visible side can be provided in a manner as it is known from JP 30-30922 A is known. In this prior art, the back reinforcing layer is formed by insert molding the decorative part. Thereafter, a transparent cover is formed by overspraying on the visible side. The transparent cover can also be colored. Usually, the decorative molding is produced by means of two-component injection molding on a turning tool.
  • Corresponding decorative moldings are used as lining parts, in particular in a motor vehicle. Thus, the present invention will specifically specify a decorative molding as a lining part for a motor vehicle.
  • In motor vehicles very high demands are placed on the aesthetic design of the vehicle interior. These also cover decorative moldings as lining parts for the vehicle interior. Accordingly, the decorative molding must meet its own particular aesthetic requirements and also be designed in such a way that it fits into the rest of the design of the vehicle interior.
  • In addition to the previously presented prior art, the applicant refers to the DE 43 01 444 C2 , the DE 43 01 444 as well as the DE 41 24 297 and finally the DE 41 22 412 A1 as relevant state of the art.
  • The present invention is based on the problem of specifying a newly appearing, aesthetically pleasing decorative part.
  • To solve the above problem, the present invention proposes a decorative molding having the features of claim 1. This decorative molding comprises a veneer part, in particular a thin-layer veneer, d. H. a veneer with a thickness of between 0.2 and 0.8 mm. This veneer part may be converted into a three-dimensionally shaped preform before applying the reinforcing layer or the transparent cover, for example by applying heat and / or steam, so that the veneer part is already in that spatial extension and more complex, three-dimensional formation in which the later decorative molding in the vehicle interior shows. After that, the veneer part can show light edges and radii. In particular, the veneer with the course of the later decorative molded part is concave and / or curved. Regular forming takes place in such a way that the edge of the veneer part is completely or partially folded around to form a visible edge, in order to create the appearance of a solid wood part in a lateral view of the molded part.
  • The reinforcing layer may comprise overmolded fastening elements, such as, for example, screws or nuts, which simplify the easier assembly of the decorative molded part on the motor vehicle. Usually, the encapsulation of the veneer part and the removal from the mold casting tool takes place with a dimension which is greater than the dimension of the finished decorative molding. Thereafter, preferably, trimming of the edges to produce the decorative molding with the final dimensional shape. The edges which have been exposed by cutting and possibly sealed beforehand during injection molding are subsequently covered by applying a seal, so that the veneer part is fully protected from environmental influences. The cover can be done by painting only the cutting edge.
  • The decorative molding according to the invention is characterized by an applied on the visible side of the veneer part metallization. This metallization is formed by depositing metal from the gas phase. The metallization can be applied by means of PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) or CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition). Both methods are known in the art.
  • The peculiarity of the decorative molded part according to the invention consists in the metallization of the surface by depositing metal from the gas phase. This creates the opportunity to obtain the fine structure of the veneer, which is not possible, for example, when painting with metallic paint. Thus, the finished decorative molding shows the wood-like appearance of a veneer part, but at the same time has a metallic appearance, which makes the special appeal of the decorative molding according to the invention for use as a lining part in a motor vehicle.
  • The deposited on the visible side of the veneer part metal is preferably selected from a group consisting of: aluminum, steel, chromium-nickel and indium. On the visible side of the veneer, one or more of these elements may be deposited from the gas phase.
