Abstract

The method involves using biometric characteristics of fingertips. The outer shape of the fingertip and its pattern of lines are detected as characteristics specific to a person and are fed to an analyzer. The fingerprint and the shape of the fingertip can be analyzed from different perspectives so that the system cannot be deceived using planar images of the original or applying images to a cylindrical surface as an approximation to the finger.
