Abstract

The handle (1) to be attached to the lower end of the shaft of an umbrella is cylindrically shaped and hollow (3). A groove (5) positioned axially along the outer surface (6) of the handle can be used for the insertion of a rectangular sheet (4) of a rigid material provided with a text, a picture, or combination of both. The groove (5) reaches down to the lower edge of the handle (1), facilitating the sheet (4) to be slid in and out conveniently as required. The insert (4) can be made of the same material as the handle (1) or in a contrasting color or texture. It can be level with its surroundings (6) or slightly raised.

Umbrella handle

The invention relates to an umbrella handle with a holder for an umbrella pole.

Such umbrella handles are known in various elaborate designs, such as the one shown in DE-OS 197 48 456.

The invention is based on the object of creating an umbrella handle with a shape that is easy to produce and which also offers the possibility of individualizing the umbrella handle in relation to different types of use, origin, customer and the like. This is achieved with the umbrella handle mentioned at the beginning in that it is formed by a substantially cylindrical, tubular sleeve, the axial cavity of which is designed to accommodate the umbrella pole and which has an axial groove on its outer longitudinal surface for receiving a suitably insertable strip with a visually striking surface.

This umbrella handle is easy to manufacture due to its hollow cylindrical design. In addition, the inclusion of the insertable and thus replaceable bar offers the possibility of individualizing the umbrella handle in any desired way through the design of the bar, e.g. by adding a label to indicate a certain origin or a certain target group.

The umbrella handle is designed in such a way that the strip inserted into the longitudinal groove reaches up to the front of the sleeve. This not only gives the umbrella handle a pleasing appearance, it also allows the strip to be

The design can also be easily pulled out of the longitudinal groove in the axial direction of the bar and replaced with another bar if necessary, or the desired individually designed bar can be pushed into the longitudinal groove from the front side of the umbrella handle during manufacture.

To give the strip a special individual look, it is conveniently coloured in a contrasting colour to the colour of the sleeve.

The grip of the umbrella handle can be particularly increased by making the bar protrude slightly from the surface of the sleeve.

The umbrella handle 1 shown in Figure 1 consists of the sleeve 2, which is tubular and has the axial cavity 3, which serves to accommodate a correspondingly designed umbrella pole. The umbrella pole (not shown) is expediently pressed into the cavity 3, where it is held by a tight fit or by gluing if necessary. The sleeve 2 carries the strip 4, which is inserted into a groove 5 in the sleeve 2 that fits the strip 4.

Figure 2 shows the same umbrella handle, which is rotated by 90° compared to the illustration in Figure 1. Figure 2 shows how the bar 4 is individually designed, for which the book

letters A, B, C and D are selected. Of course, any other label can be placed on bar 4.

The strip 4 protrudes slightly from both the longitudinal surface 6 of the sleeve 2 and the front side 7 of the sleeve 2, which improves the grip of the umbrella handle. The strip 4 fits snugly into the groove 5 and is held in place, e.g. clamped or glued. It is of course also possible to fasten the strip 4 in the groove 5 using small screws or small pins.

Figure 3 shows a plan view of the umbrella handle 1 according to Figure 1, from which it can be seen how the strip 4 is inserted into the sleeve 2 in the axial direction from the front side 7.

The sleeve 2, which essentially forms the umbrella handle, can be injection-molded from plastic, but metal is also suitable for the sleeve, and the longitudinal surface of the sleeve can be grooved if necessary to improve the grip of the umbrella handle 1 in the hand. A light color, e.g. white, beige or silver, is preferably chosen as the color for the sleeve 2, whereas a darker color is preferably chosen for the strip 4 to provide a contrast with the sleeve. The colors of the components of the umbrella handle can also be selected in a different color than those described above.

Claims (4)

1. Umbrella handle ( 1 ) with a receptacle for an umbrella pole, characterized in that it is formed by a substantially cylindrical, tubular sleeve ( 2 ) whose axial cavity ( 3 ) is designed to receive the umbrella pole and which has an axial groove ( 5 ) on its outer longitudinal surface for receiving a suitably insertable strip ( 4 ) with a visually striking surface. 2. Umbrella handle according to claim 1, characterized in that the strip ( 4 ) extends to the front side ( 7 ) of the sleeve ( 2 ). 3. Umbrella handle according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the strip ( 4 ) is of a different color to the color of the sleeve ( 2 ). 4. Umbrella handle according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the strip ( 4 ) protrudes slightly from the longitudinal surface ( 6 ) of the sleeve 2 .
