Abstract

Hollow filled wire is used for the plasma spraying of metal alloys or mixed metal and ceramic materials. The plasma flame is employed not only for the spraying, but also the melting and atomisation of the hollow wire. Use of a hollow wire greatly extends the range of materials which can be plasma sprayed by permitting the incorporation of powder materials into the metal wire.
