Claims (23)
eine aufblasbare Fahrzeuginsassenschutzvorrichtung, die in eine Position zwischen der Seitenstruktur des Fahrzeugs und einem Fahrzeuginsassen aufblasbar ist; und
eine Aufblasvorrichtung zum Aufblasen der aufblasbaren Fahrzeuginsas senschutzvorrichtung und zum Erhalten der aufblasbaren Fahrzeuginsas senschutzvorrichtung in einem aufgeblasenen Zustand für mindestens fünf Sekunden, wobei die Aufblasvorrichtung ein unter Druck stehendes gespeichertes Aufblasströmungsmittel enthält, wobei das Aufblasströ mungsmittel im wesentlichen aus Helium besteht.
einen Behälter zum Speichern unter Druck des Aufblasströmungsmittels, wobei der Behälter einen Auslaßdurchlaß hat, durch den das Auf blasströmungsmittel von dem Behälter zu der aufblasbaren Fahrzeugin sassenschutzvorrichtung strömt;
ein zerbrechbares Verschlußglied, das an dem Behälter befestigt ist und die Strömung des Aufblasströmungsmittels durch den Durchlaß blockiert; und
einen Zünder, der, wenn er betätigt wird, dazu führt, daß das Verschluß glied bricht, um dem Aufblasströmungsmittel zu erlauben, durch den Durchlaß zu strömen.
Behältermittel zum Speichern von Aufblasströmungsmittel unter Druck, wobei die Behältermittel mindestens einen Teil haben, der geöffnet wer den kann, um Aufblasströmungsmittel freizugeben, um aus den Behälter mitteln zu strömen;
erste Auslaßmittel, die mit dem Behälter verbunden sind, um Aufblasströ mungsmittel mit einer relativ hohen Geschwindigkeit über einen relativ kurzen Zeitraum aus der Aufblasvorrichtung abzugeben; und
zweite Auslaßmittel, die mit dem Behälter verbunden sind, um Auf blasströmungsmittel mit einer relativ niedrigen Geschwindigkeit über ei nen relativ langen Zeitraum aus der Aufblasvorrichtung abzugeben.
Behältermittel zum Speichern von Aufblasströmungsmittel unter Druck, wobei das Aufblasströmungsmittel im wesentlichen aus Helium besteht, wobei die Behältermittel mindestens einen Teil haben, der geöffnet wer den kann zur Freigabe von Aufblasströmungsmittel, um aus den Behäl termitteln herauszuströmen;
erste Auslaßmittel, die mit den Behältermitteln verbunden sind, um das Aufblasströmungsmittel in die aufblasbare Fahrzeuginsassenschutzvor richtung zu leiten, wobei die ersten Auslaßmittel das Aufblasströmungs mittel mit einer relativ hohen Strömungsgeschwindigkeit über einen relativ kurzen Zeitraum aus der Aufblasvorrichtung abgeben; und
zweite Auslaßmittel, die mit den Behältermitteln verbunden sind, um das Aufblasströmungsmittel in die aufblasbare Fahrzeuginsassenschutzvor richtung zu leiten, wobei die zweiten Auslaßmittel das Aufblasströmungs mittel mit einer relativ niedrigen Strömungsgeschwindigkeit über einen relativ langen Zeitraum aus der Aufblasvorrichtung abgeben, wobei der relativ lange Zeitraum mindestens fünf Sekunden umfaßt.
