Abstract

Air purification device consists of an adsorptive filter molded to a filter casing which is closed on one side and through which fluids can radially flow. Either the filter element can rotate about its axis of symmetry and move through a desorption device or the filter element is fixed and a desorption device can move along the filter casing. The desorption air stream is deviated as partial air stream from the whole feed stream removed by a low pressure suction. Preferred Features: The filter casing can be continuously moved through the desorption device or the desorption device can be continuously moved along the filter casing. The casing is divided into segments and can be moved discontinuously through the desorption device or the desorption device can be moved discontinuously around the filter casing.

The invention relates to an air cleaning system, in particular for a vehicle interior space, consisting of a sorptive filter that turns into a radially closed on one side flow through filter jacket is formed, which is either about its symmetry axis rotates and moves its filter jacket through a desorption device or is permanently installed and a desorption device can be moved along the filter jacket is.

Activated carbon filters have long been used as odor filter systems in the automotive industry used. A characteristic of such an activated carbon filter, however, is that it filters de Effect due to saturation with the pollutants and odors to be filtered increasing service life subsides. The result is that such systems are replacement filters, which will be replaced by completely new filter units after a certain service life have to. This exchange is costly and environmentally harmful on the one hand and others it leads to short maintenance intervals.

The solution to this problem lies in regenerable filter systems. So with several filter units can be worked, of which one unit is always in Adsorption and one unit is in desorption.

This principle is already known from DE 42 14 246 A1 known. Here two activated carbon filters are operated in parallel, whereby one is always in the heated state and its desorption air via a con is guided. Two other solutions with two filter units each are in the DE 195 17 016 Al and described in DE 196 03 866 A1. Is in DE 196 03 866 A1 the sorbent by hot air, which is generated with a heating element warms, so this process takes place in DE 195 17 016 A1 on the direct heating of the metallic carrier. The disadvantage of these three examples mentioned so far is that always only half of the total amount of activated carbon used for gas cleaning for ver  is standing. Because in today's vehicles there is space for the filters for air purification is severely limited, there is the disadvantage that due to the small volume too little activated carbon is available for effective odor filtration. On another principle is shown in DE 35 17 105 C1. This is a continuous process in which a gas stream is passed across the axis of rotation a rotating cylinder with a perforated sheet metal jacket filled with activated carbon is leads. The problem of the insufficient amount of activated carbon is solved here, but has a bulk bed filter has a very high pressure drop compared to matrix filters, which also due to abrasion of the activated carbon increases over the service life.

The air purification system described above describes the state of the art conditions with desorbable activated carbon filter units show that they are not yet optimal Requirements resulting from the operation in motor vehicles are sufficient.

The object of the present invention is to record an improved air purification system gene, which has a significantly longer service life and in which there is sufficient ad at all times sorber are available for the actual gas cleaning, d. H. in which at any time enough There is enough memory for strong odor events. At the same time System have a comparatively low pressure drop and this must not or increase very little over the service life.

B. in zyklischen Abständen, erfolgen. To accomplish this task, the carrier with the sorbents becomes a Hohlzy less educated. The hollow cylinder is closed on one side. The one to be cleaned Gas flow flows radially through the filter jacket from outside or inside. The system is ent neither constructed so that the filter jacket is rotatable about its axis of symmetry and on egg ner fixed location sits a desorption through which the filter jacket can be rotated, or that the filter jacket is firmly installed and the desorption Direction is movable along the filter jacket. The rotation can be done in both cases  both continuously and discontinuously, e.g. B. at cyclic intervals. With this structure, a continuously regenerable filter system is obtained. Thereby, that only that part of the cylinder jacket which is in the desorption is desorbed device is located, the energy expenditure for regeneration is so low that the System with the energy sources available in today's vehicles convenient gets along.

In a first embodiment, the cylinder jacket from a temperature stable but not directly heatable carrier exist, applied to the adsorbents are. In this case, one of the outer cylinders is located on the upstream side of the cylinder Lindemantelfläche adapted heating element that as a part of the total volume flow Desorption volume flow passes. On the outflow side there is one of the inner ones Suction channel adapted to the lateral surface. About this suction channel is a sub pressure the amount of air desorbed is extracted and directed to the outside or the intake air of the engine. The vacuum is z. B. by the intake of the engine or generated by a vacuum pump. The cylinder jacket is made by the heating element and suction channel rotated existing desorption device. Sealing the zylin dermantels is carried out by a circumferential guide, which is also connected to the vacuum suction can be connected to extract any leakage air. This system can also be constructed so that the filter jacket is permanently installed and the heating element and the suction channel around the filter jacket while sitting on a fixed axis.

If the filter jacket in the design described above is homogeneous, so the movement is preferably continuous. In the event that the filter jacket through air-tight partition is divided into segments, the movement is preferred segment by segment.

In a second embodiment, the filter jacket consists of a bellows consists of a pleated medium consisting of a carrier layer, a layer of Ad sorbents and a cover layer. The filter jacket is airtight  Partitions divided into segments, with each segment having an equal number of folds contains. As in the first embodiment, the desorption device is made of a heater element on the upstream side on the outer cylinder surface and a suction channel e.g. B. with a vacuum pump or with a connection to the engine air intake on the Ab upstream. Here too, either the filter jacket is permanently installed and Heizele The ment and suction channel move around the segment in segments on a fixed axis The filter jacket or the filter jacket is rotatably mounted and moves in segments due to the permanently installed heating element and suction duct components.

In a further embodiment, activated carbon is on a metallic carrier be upset. The metallic carrier can due to its ohmic resistance take over the function of the heating element itself. The cylinder jacket can be in segments be divided, which are provided with electrical contacts such that a segment over Applying an electrical voltage can be heated. The system is up builds in that always on the downstream side of the segment that is being heated up Suction channel with vacuum suction is located. It can either be the suction channel Move on the outflow side on the inner surface of the cylinder or the suction channel is fixed and the cylinder jacket moves. The rotation takes place in segments.

It is also possible to use an activated carbon instead of a carrier with activated carbon to use woven fabric or an activated carbon fabric. This material stands out by from that it is electrically heated. In this case, the cylinder jacket becomes like this trained that the largest possible air flow results. The cylinder coat can be divided into segments which are provided with contacts such that they can be heated by applying an electrical voltage. The system is constructed in such a way that it always heats up on the downstream side of the segment a suction channel with vacuum suction is located. Either the Ab Move the suction channel on the outflow side to the inside of the cylinder or the suction channel is fixed and the cylinder jacket moves. The rotation takes place in segments.

In Fig. 2 the system shown in Fig. 1 can be seen in plan view, only the cylinder jacket and the components of the desorption device are shown.

The filter jacket ( 1 ) is attached to an axis ( 2 ) via struts ( 4 ). The filter thus constructed is rotatably attached to a mandrel ( 6 ) and is driven by a motor ( 8 ). The mandrel ( 6 ) is attached to the filter housing ( 13 ) via a grid ( 5 ). At the bottom of the housing there is a circumferential guide ( 11 ) in which the filter casing ( 1 ) moves as it rotates. The guide is connected to the suction channel ( 3 ) via an additional channel ( 14 ). In this way, any leakage air ( 15 ) that arises is extracted. The front of the filter is closed with the help of a disc ( 7 ). The disc ( 7 ) is displaceable on the axis ( 2 ), so that the filter both in the closed (disc ( 7 ) lies on the filter jacket ( 1 )) and in the open (disc ( 7 ) is above the filter jacket ( 1 )) condition can be operated. In the closed state, the air flow ( 9 ) to be treated is passed through the filter jacket ( 1 ) from the outside. This situation is shown in Fig. 1. In the open state, the air flow ( 9 ) passes through the filter unfiltered in the bypass. Regardless of whether the system is switched to filtration or bypass, a desorption air flow ( 10 ) is extracted through part of the filter jacket ( 1 ) via the suction channel ( 3 ). The course of the adsorption air flow ( 9 ) and desorption air flow ( 10 ) is shown schematically in FIG. 2 in the form of a top view.

The desorption air flow ( 10 ) is heated via the heating element ( 12 ). The suction channel ( 3 ) covers 1/16 of the inner filter surface. The heating element ( 12 ) covers 1/32 of the outer filter surface. In this way it is ensured that all of the heated desorption air ( 10 ) is discharged via the suction channel ( 3 ). In the present example, the filter jacket consists of a polyurethane foam to which activated carbon particles are applied with the help of an adhesive that is stable up to 150 ° C. The outer diameter of the filter jacket is 18 cm, the inner 12 cm. This results in a thickness of the Fil termantels of 3 cm. The activated carbon has an active surface area of 1100 m 2 / g and an average grain diameter of 0.4 mm. This drum filter has a pressure drop of less than 220 Pa at an air flow of 6 kg / min. According to DIN 71460-2, this filter has a mass flow of 195 k / h. an adsorbed mass of more than 13 g n-butane and an immediate breakthrough of less than 0.3%. The Desorpti onsluftstrom, which is 1/10 of the airflow to be treated, is heated to a temperature of 150 ° C via the heating element ( 12 ). The heating element consists of an expanded metal made of V2A stainless steel and the heating takes place by applying an electrical voltage. The drum filter rotates continuously at a speed of 1 degree / minute.

The filter jacket ( 201 ) is firmly mounted on the circumferential seal ( 211 ) in the filter housing ( 213 ). Inside the filter jacket ( 201 ) is a rotatable suction channel ( 203 ) which is connected via a coupling ( 205 ) to a fixed suction channel ( 206 ) and can be rotated by a motor ( 208 ) via a drive shaft ( 202 ). In Fig. 4 the filter jacket is shown in plan. The filter jacket is divided into 16 segments by the air-permeable walls ( 215 ). In these segments a pleated and coated with activated carbon expanded metal ( 214 ) is introduced such that each segment contains 2 folds. The outer circumference of the cylindrical filter jacket is 18 cm, the inner 10 cm. The fold height is 4 cm, the length of the filter and thus the width of the folds is 18 cm. The expanded metal consists of the material 1.4301 (V2A stainless steel) and has the mesh parameters 4 × 2 × 0.3 × 0.3 mm (mesh length x mesh width x web width x material thickness). The activated carbon has an active surface area of 1100 m 2 / g and an average grain diameter of 0.4 mm. This drum filter has a pressure drop of less than 150 Pa at an air flow of 6 kg / min. According to DIN 71460-2, this filter has a mass flow of 195 k / h. an adsorbed mass of more than 6 g of n-butane and an immediate breakthrough of less than 2%. Sliding contacts ( 212 ) are arranged on the partition walls ( 215 ) in the filter jacket ( 201 ). These sliding contacts are connected to the coated expanded metal via electrical lines ( 218 ) which run on the partition walls ( 215 ). The segment in front of which the suction channel ( 203 ) is now connected via the contacts ( 212 ) on the partition walls and the contacts ( 204 ) on the suction channel ( 203 ) via the electrical lines ( 216 ) to a voltage source ( 217 ) and so on electrically heated. The desorption air flow ( 210 ) is sucked off by the heated filter material and discharged through the rotatable suction channel ( 203 ) and the fixed suction channel ( 206 ). The desorption temperature is 200 ° C. This air cleaning system also has a bypass flap ( 207 ), which is attached to the front of the filter. If it lies on the filter jacket and thus closes it on the end face as shown in FIG. 3, the air flow ( 209 ) to be treated is guided radially through the filter jacket from the outside. If it is in a position in which the filter jacket is open, the air flow ( 209 ) to be treated is carried out directly through the filter jacket and thus unfiltered due to the air resistance of the coated expanded metal ( 214 ).
