Abstract

The invention relates to a method for repairing small paint defects in powder coating layers, in which the paint defects are left out, a filler body adapted to the shape and / or volume is introduced into the recess, the filler body is connected to the powder coating layer surrounding the recess and cured. The filler body is charged to an electrical potential that differs from that of the recess before being inserted into the recess. The electrically charged filler is then introduced into the electrically differently charged recess.

Description

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for Repair of small paint defects in powder coatings according to the Preamble of claim 1 as it is based on the generic laid out DE 196 46 956.2 emerges as known.

From the unpublished DE 196 46 956.2 it is for repair known paint defects in powder coating layers known, the powder coating Cut out layer in the area of the paint defect, in the cutout a filler adapted to the shape and / or volume of the recess insert and the filler with the surrounding the recess To connect and harden the powder coating layer. Despite the advantageous This procedure is the procedure of the repair still in need of improvement.

The object of the invention is the underlying repair To improve the tur procedure so that the repair of Powder coating layers with a packing is simplified.

The object is achieved in a method with the Process steps of claim 1 solved. By the electri discharge and the electrical charge of the Packing is the packing without further action in the Recess at least until the filler cures pers held.

In Fig. 1 a section of a curved powder coating layer 1 is shown a substrate. The substrate can be made of metal, plastic and / or fiber-reinforced plastic, MDF material and / or similar powder-coated materials, for example. When applying the powder coating layer 1, errors, such as trapped dust particles, can occur despite various precautionary measures. To repair a faulty location, this is provided within a very limited framework, in particular the set and hardened powder coating layer 1, with a cutout 2 which, in the present exemplary embodiment, is cylindrical.

During the insertion of the recess 2 , the faulty location is blown with ionized air, as a result of which the frictional electricity occurring during milling is electrically neutralized and the recess is ideally brought to an electrical zero potential, ie is electrically discharged. At the same time, the recess 2 is also cleaned by the preferably dried air.

Before the recess 2 is introduced into the powder coating layer 1 , the layer thickness of a film is measured, from which the packing 3 is to be manufactured, in particular to be punched. Logically, the measurement of the film thickness of the film takes place at the point at which the filler body 3 from the film out to be punched. Advantageously, the filler 3 is simultaneously electrically charged during punching out, as a result of which it can be introduced into the electrically neutral cutout 2 without any further measures.

Due to the recess 2 made in accordance with the layer thickness of the film or the filler 3 and to a maximum of the depth of the powder coating layer 1, the error, for example, the dust grain is eliminated in the present case.

As already mentioned, the recess 2 is advantageously machined and, in particular, by means of asymmetrical milling - ie the cutting edges of the milling cutter do not run through the center of the milling surface - or grinding into the powder coating layer 1 . Furthermore, the recess 2 can also be drilled and / or sawn and / or burned out and / or punched out and / or ground using a laser. For all types of insertion of the recess 2 in the powder coating layer 1 , care must be taken that the recess 2 is introduced into the powder coating layer 1 with regard to its surface or width and also with respect to its depth with precisely defined dimensions and with a predetermined edge contour.

Ebenso sind die Ränder des Füllkörpers 3 den entspre chenden Rändern der zylindrischen Aussparung 2 angepaßt.2 as illustrated in Figure - - tion is then in the Ausspa 2 a of the powder coating formed plate-like and electrically charged filler body 3 is introduced from the powder coating and / or a precursor. ie that, inter alia, the contour of the bottom of the packing 3 is adapted to the contour of the bottom of the recess 2 . Likewise, the edges of the packing 3 are adapted to the corresponding edges of the cylindrical recess 2 .

The filler 3, which is at least partially meshed before being introduced into the recess 2, is dimensioned in accordance with the volume of the recess 2 and is continuously connected in the sense of a monolith; that is, the diameter of the monolithically associated filler body 3 of the width of the recess 2 and the layer thickness of the filler body 3 approximately to the depth of the recess corresponds approximately.

With regard to the filler body 3 , this exact dimensioning can be realized in a simple manner by the filler body 3 being shaped, in particular punched out, from a previously produced lacquer film. In at least some effect powder coatings, this coating film is expediently produced by electrostatic spraying in order to maintain the desired optical properties.

On the visible side 5 of the filler body 3 arranged in the recess 2 , a pressure body 4 is created, which expediently protrudes beyond the edges of the recess 2 and which also lies flat against the edges of the recess 2 on the visible side 5 of the powder coating layer 1 .

The filler 3 of the powder coating layer 1 arranged outside the cutout 2 is then connected. Here, at least at the beginning of the connection, a pressure of preferably a maximum of 1 bar is exerted on the pressure element 4 and via the pressure element 4 on the fill element 3 . This results, inter alia, in a good connection and a qualitatively good, in particular smooth transition between the filler 3 and the powder coating layer 1 .

The connection is preferably made by an adhesive layer "adhesive layer" (not shown), which is arranged either on the filler 3 or even before the filler 3 is introduced into the recess 2 along the corresponding walls of the filler 3 .

Then the filler introduced into the recess 2 is heated by 3 and possibly also the “adhesive layer” and / or reacted. Due to the heating and / or the reaction, in particular the filler 3 and possibly also the adhesive layer cures. Here too, pressure is exerted on the filler 3 at least at the beginning of the hardening process via the pressure body 4 . Since the surface of the pressure element 4 bearing on the filling element 3 - that is to say the contact surface 6 - is expediently designed to be as smooth as possible, this pressure also results in a good surface area of the hardened filling element 3 .

The reaction is preferably initiated and / or maintained by UV radiation and / or electromagnetic, in particular IR radiation, and / or hot air. If the curing of the packing 3 is introduced by electromagnetic radiation, the material and the layer thickness of the printing body 4 are expediently chosen such that the pressure body 4 transmits them in the direction of the packing 3 by at least 50% of the radiation emitted behind it.

Furthermore, when curing and / or when connecting the filler 3 to the powder coating layer 1 , gas formation can occur, which is why the pressure element 4 expediently has 3 pores in the area of its contact surface 6 on the filler, through which the resulting gas is discharged.

So that these pores do not adversely affect the surface quality of the visible side 4 of the packing 3 , the pores have the smallest possible cross section. In particular, they are so-called micropores or at least the contact surface 6 are microporous materials. In particular, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has proven to be the material for the contact surface of the pressure element 4 , since layers of this type can be produced in a known manner with this material. In the case of repair materials which have only little to no outgassing, the pressure body 4 , which in particular has a non-stick coating (not shown), can be made of polished metal and / or glass.

Furthermore, the contact surface 6 , in a special embodiment also the entire pressure body 4, can be produced from so-called nanoparticles. If the connection of the filler 3 and / or the curing of the filler 3 by means of electromagnetic, in particular IR radiation, is initiated in such a contact surface 6 or such a pressure body 4 , it is expedient to make the size of the nanoparticles smaller than the wavelength of the radiation to choose.

Since the filler 3 may have a volume shrinkage depending on the material used during curing, it is also advantageous to provide the filler 3 with a volume that approximately corresponds to the volume of the recess 2 plus the volume shrinkage of the filler 3 that occurs during curing.

Furthermore, when applying a further, in particular a clear lacquer layer 7 to the powder lacquer layer 1, it may be advantageous to introduce the recess 2 and to fill the recess 2 with the filler 3 before the clear lacquer layer 7 is applied .

In Fig. 3, a powder coating layer 1 is shown, which is provided with a faulty area of the in particular tied and hardened powder coating layer 1 with a truncated cone-shaped recess 2 in the area. The cone of the recess 2 closes towards the substrate. The cutout 2 , which is made to a maximum of the depth of the powder coating layer 1 , simultaneously eliminates the error, for example a grain of dust.

In Fig. 4 the frustoconical recess 2 is shown with the filler 3 arranged therein and above the filler 3 on an orderly repair device. The filler 3 is made of powder coating and / or a preliminary product of the powder coating and is in particular shaped like a plate. The edges of the filler body 3 are in terms of their geometric dimensions, and in terms of its course, the example. In a one brin supply of the recess 2 is not necessarily round, but optionally also, for example, may be kidney-shaped, the edges of the Ausspa tion 2 adapted.

To introduce the filler 3 into the recess, it is completely covered with a previously described paint film. From the covering paint film, the packing 3 is pushed out and brought into the recess 2 and / or pressed in when it is ejected.

As shown in Fig. 4, it can happen that the filler 3 disintegrates into individual fragments 8 . A before the setting with the remaining powder coating layer 1 from individual fragments 8 formed filler 3 is in the sense of the inven tion also to be understood as a coherent filler 3 ; ie arranged in the recess 2 entire filler body 3 of the recess 2 is not necessarily completely monolithic det ausgebil before its connection to the walls or the floor.

The filler 3 arranged in the recess 2 is connected to the powder coating layer 1 arranged outside the recess 2 by the measures mentioned above. The connection is made by a direct connection of the material of the filling body 3 with the material of the powder coating layer 1 surrounding it . The connection of the filler 3 with the powder coating layer 1 does not have to be made along the entire common area, but can be limited to individual common partial areas. In the case of filler bodies 3 formed from fragments 8 , the fragments 8 are simultaneously connected to one another in the same way.

If, as shown in Fig. 4, a defective spot is only noticed after the application of a clear lacquer layer 7 , the procedure for repairs can be largely analogous, but it now makes sense to use a filler body 3 formed from the powder lacquer, which also has a visible side is provided with a clear lacquer layer, the layer thickness of this clear lacquer layer corresponding approximately to that clear lacquer layer 7 which is otherwise arranged on the powder lacquer layer 1 of the substrate.

In FIGS. 5 and 6, a device 9 for repair of faulty spots in powder paint layers 1 in top view and in a side view.

In general, the device 9 has a rotatably supported base plate, which can be arranged, for example, via a rotary stepping motor 18 on an arm of an industrial robot (not shown). The industrial robot is expediently a Cartesian gantry robot, so that control that is as precise as possible is made possible.

The individual machining tools for the various work steps are arranged in a star shape on the base plate 10 . The axes of the machining tools are oriented transversely to the axis of rotation of the base plate and parallel to the surface orthogonal signals of the powder coating layer 1 in the region of the recess 2 .

The axis of rotation of the base plate 10 itself is oriented transversely to the surface of the powder coating layer 1 in the region of the recess 2 . By this measure, the processing tool of the machining site, remains the same for a change whereby the introduction of the filler body 3 to a high degree is reproduction ible.

In a particular embodiment, for example, the machining tools such as the lenses of a microscope can be arranged with different lenses that can be inserted into the beam path, the machining tools with the lenses and the rotating plate of the microscope carrying the lenses being comparable to the base plate 10 .

In the device 9 of FIGS . 5 and 6, the Bear processing tools are mounted on the flat base plate 10 . The base plate 10 is rotatably supported by means of the rotary stepping motor 11 , the axis of rotation of which is oriented orthogonally to the flat side of the base plate 10 .

The machining tools are star-shaped and arranged with their processing axis Bear parallel to the flat side of the base plate 10 on the base plate 10 . The processing tools are specifically a milling headstock 11 , a dial gauge 12 , a micrometer 13 , a punch 14 , a vacuum holder 15 , a halogen lamp 16 and the preferably heatable pressure body 4 with a flat contact surface 6 .

The processing tools are rotatable about the base plate 10 and linearly slidable in the direction of the pivot axis of the base plate 10, for example, on a robot arm (not shown). With this arrangement, the respective machining tool can be positioned with its machining axis in a simple manner with high precision perpendicular to the surface of the powder coating layer 1 in the region of the faulty location.

The milling spindle 18 , which has ball bearings in the milling headstock 11 and is driven by a speed-controlled motor 17 , is roughly lowered with a pneumatic cylinder 19 onto the surface of the powder coating layer 1 and adjusted with the micrometer screw 13 so that the surface in the region of the faulty point is just touched.

The zero point thus obtained is recorded with the dial gauge 12 and the required milling depth is set with the micrometer 13 . The device 9 is then raised with the pneumatic cylinder 19 , the milling cutter is brought into position and lowered via the pneumatic cylinder 19 . A hydraulic shock absorber lowers the milling spindle to the previously set milling or drilling depth. During milling, the cut-out 2 is permanently blown out with preferably ionized air. As a result, it is electrically discharged, dust-free and easily cooled.

If necessary, the finished recess 2 is blown further with ionized air even after the milling process has ended, the recess being irradiated during this time with the halogen lamp 16 and preferably being heated to approximately 50.degree.

In a sensible manner, the halogen lamp 16 is also used to illuminate the workpiece in addition to heating the recess 2 .

The filler 3 to be inserted into the recess 2 is punched out of the film using the punching tool 14 . The punched-out filler 3 is held in place by the vacuum holder 15 and the base plate 10 is brought back into the working position above the savings 2 . After lowering the cylinder 19 of the packing 3 is fitted exactly over a seated in the die 14 in the piston Ausssparung. 2

The packing 3 is then pressed with the heated pressure body 4 and heated to a maximum of 110 ° C (depending on the type of powder). Depending on the thickness of the filler 3 , the filler 3 is fixed after about 1-4 min so that it is with the halogen lamp 16 at about 175 ° C (depending on the type of powder) in about 15 minutes (depending from the type of powder) can be cured.
