Abstract

The electrodes (9-13) required to measure and record data from electrocardiogram signals are fixed in their geometric position by a plaster (2) which adheres to the skin in the chest area. A miniaturized electronics module (5), a battery (17) and an induction coil (25) are integrated into the plaster. The data thus recorded and other data related to the patient, time etc. is archived in a compressed form in a semiconductor memory (50). Currently detected data and stored data are read in a contactless manner via the induction coil (25) and an externally supplied reading head (40), and evaluated. The entire stock of data can be read in the space of a few seconds by means of a direct electric connection when the plaster is removed. Representation and evaluation of said data is carried out by an external data processing system (26).

The invention relates to mobile devices for measuring and recording data from electrical equipment cardiograms (EKG) for medical and sports applications. Devices of this type are known and used in the medical field to patients over a period of Hours or days the heart rhythms during their normal work and / or at be to record special loads (high-performance sports, training) (so-called long-term - ECG, also 24-hour ECG). A diagnosis of any present is made from the records Heart diseases or the stressful situation created. This diagnosis is supported by Be the recorded ECG signals or by automatic or semi-automatic computer-aided evaluation methods that take significant features of the stored signals into account view, created.

The known data recorders are relatively large and heavy and are used by the patient worn on the belt, together with the leads, this is inconvenient and unwieldy limits the freedom of movement. As a result, the process of data is on the patient drawing constantly aware of what leads to abnormal behavior and thus to a falsification of the Leads to measurement results. In numerous applications in patients doing physical work ten, the known devices due to their weight and the arrangement with wire lead leads to individual, separately applied electrodes, a considerable disability so that it often leads to electrode tearing, interruption of the contacts, detachment of the electrodes and ultimately results in measurement results that cannot be evaluated.

When used in sports training, the weight and construction volume of the recording device are just as good if very important, because in many sports the body accelerates extremely (e.g. high jump, running, skiing, etc.), each exposed in some way Affect device strapped to the body.

Especially in the sports field when using the device with the attachment by medical Laypersons to be expected, whereby the arrangement of the leads in the case of individual electrodes is essential results, but medical knowledge and a qualitative assessment of the Measured values are required, which is not always available. The application must therefore by Design be simple and unproblematic.

It is also desirable for handling when reading out or checking the Function of the device does not require undressing the patient, but through clothing can be made.

It should also be possible for the patient to remove the device himself, e.g. B. if the Pa tient lives far away from the doctor and a direct visit is only possible with great effort. The The device should be easy to pack and send (envelope) to the doctor then read out.

Devices are known (US 757965) which record EKG measured values and on magnetic cassettes record, the devices connections for cable leads that are too stick on the body lead the electrodes. These devices are typically the size of a pack of cigarettes or larger and are attached to the belt, bags or other holders on the body of the  Patient attached (WO 89/05116). Devices are also known (EP 0333 125 B1, EP 0 398660 B1), who use semiconductor memory instead of magnetic tape cassettes. It is also known (WO 85/05514) that compression methods for compressing the large amounts of data obtained can be used using different methods. They are also devices known (WO 94/01040), in which a removable semiconductor memory in the form of a standardized memory card is used, which is read out in a suitable device.

There are also known plaster-like designs of surveillance electronics, the Klein monitor children's respiratory function and body temperature (WO 92/08734) and their measurements Results are transmitted inductively. Beispielhafte Ausführung der ErfindungExemplary embodiment of the invention

Figure 1 shows a typical arrangement of the patch with data recording function for recording and storing electrocardiogram signals. The approximately hand-sized, L-shaped plaster made of an elastic fabric material, into which a number of electrodes ( 2 ) are incorporated on the side facing the body, is coated on the side facing the body with skin-friendly adhesive. On the side facing away from the body, the electrical connections to the electrodes are made in an integrated pocket using a laminated film. The film also carries the electronic components ( 3 ) as well as the coil ( 4 ) provided in this embodiment for inductive data transmission. The electronics are embedded in a body-friendly, elastic potting material together with the battery. In the case of a replaceable battery, the corresponding holder is arranged here. All electronics are protected against moisture, sweat and water to the extent that showering or at least extensive washing of the body is possible without impairment.

The internal structure of the electronics is shown in the block diagram in Figure 2. An integrated microprocessor ( 8 ) processes the measured values digitized by an A / D converter ( 7 ) and stores them in an electrically erasable memory ( 10 ). A differential amplifier ( 6 ) with several channels and means for selecting the channels is arranged in front of the A / D conversion. The signals from the electrodes ( 2 ) are fed in here. A quartz determines the clock frequency and is also used as a time standard (clock).

The processor communicates via a serial inductive interface on a carrier frequency in the medium frequency range, the transmitter and receiver coil ( 12 ) forms a frequency-selective resonance circuit with a capacitor ( 14 ). Receiver amplifier and driver ( 11 ) of the half-duplex interface are shown. Most of the electronics are typically integrated on a single semiconductor chip ( 15 ), so that only a few, inexpensive, discrete components remain.

A so-called flash memory of large capacity, which can be written in blocks, is typically used as the semiconductor memory. It can also be designed to be exchangeable. It stores the programs required for the functions, the configuration data and the recorded measurement data. Another, unchangeable program memory with BIOS routines is typically integrated in the processor ( 8 ) itself, as is a RAM memory, timer, serial interface etc., as are typical for a microcontroller (not shown).

Power is typically supplied by a 3 volt lithium battery, stabilization the supply voltage is not required.

All components and assemblies used are state of the art in their own right.

The operating modes of the electronics according to the invention are implemented by software software dule realized, some of which already exist as firmware in the processor, some as of the manufacturer  manufacturer configuration is saved in the flash memory and sometimes only at the User configuration can be downloaded. Especially the last part of the software can According to the invention are currently modified and thus kept up to date so that Units that were previously sold can also be retrofitted with new functions In addition, the area of application of the plaster with data can be varied using different drawing function can be enlarged, making large series and a favorable price possible are. So z. B. the number of detected and stored channels may be different, as well used data compression algorithms. Progress in development is there passed on that a new software version is imported on the host PC, which at the configuration of a patch with data recording function a new driver version this downloads.

The electronics assembly technology is conventional and widespread. With the "one-time version" the chips are bonded directly to the carrier film and covered with a sealing resin. Flip Chip bonding is also possible. The thickness of the electronics is hardly a millime ter, the weight only a few grams. As a battery z. B. a foil version for use manure, so that the entire structure remains very thin and elastic. The pavement is in able to follow the deformations of the skin. The reusable version will be typical semiconductors used in miniature packages and classic on the film in surface mon Tagetechnik soldered on.

Other versions of the electronics or the plaster are possible, other forms of Data transmission (ultrasound, infrared).
