Abstract

After completion of the suction work, the compressible suction hose 4 is pushed or drawn into the suction pipe 5 either by hand or by the action of the negative pressure. In order to bring the full negative pressure into effect, the valve 9 is closed while the vacuum cleaner is still running. The spiral spring incorporated into the wall of the suction hose 4 is designed with regard to its spring constants so that the suction hose 4 can be compressed by the force of the full negative pressure, but the suction hose 4 does not significantly shorten the suction pressure during the suction operation.

If the vacuum present when the valve 9 is closed is not sufficient to compress the part of the suction hose 4 located in the suction pipe 5 to its shortest possible length, then the suction hose 4 can also be pressed into the suction pipe 5 by hand. Then the locking finger 11 is actuated accordingly, so that it engages in one of the grooves 12 and thus blocks the suction hose 4 in its compressed position.

In a design of the suction tube 5 as a telescopic tube, as indicated in the drawing, it is possible to first pull the suction hose 4 into the suction tube 5 in its extended position by the negative pressure force and to lock it in this position by means of the locking finger 11 . A corresponding further shortening of the hose arrangement can then be carried out by pushing the telescopic tube together. The length of the suction hose 4 remaining after the shortening of the suction hose 4 outside the suction pipe 5 permits space-saving storage of the hose arrangement and vacuum cleaner. In this case, as shown in FIG. 2, the suction pipe 5 can be inserted into a corresponding holder provided on the vacuum cleaner housing. The remaining hose length then extends above the vacuum cleaner housing between the suction opening 2 and the upper end of the suction pipe 5 . There is therefore no additional space to the side of the vacuum cleaner for accommodating the suction hose 4 .

In addition to the exemplary embodiment described with the hose end 6 of the suction hose 4 fastened to the suction pipe 5 , there is also the possibility of displaceably arranging this hose end 6 in the suction pipe 5 . Appropriate stops and seals must then be provided at both ends of the suction pipe 5 , by means of which the displacement path of the suction hose 4 in the suction pipe 5 is limited. In such an embodiment variant, the suction hose 4 can thus be pulled out of the suction pipe 5 . This results in a larger radius of action if the same hose length is maintained. However, it is also possible to shorten the hose length corresponding to the length of the suction pipe 5 while maintaining the same radius of action. This then leads to an even shorter hose length remaining after the magazine of the suction hose 4 in the suction tube 5 , which further facilitates the space-saving stowing of the vacuum cleaner 1 .

In the case of a displaceable arrangement of the suction hose 4 in the suction pipe 5 , the outside of the corresponding hose section can come into contact with the dirty inner wall of the suction pipe 5 and be contaminated as a result. This can be avoided if a corresponding film envelope is assigned to the corresponding hose section. This film envelope can be connected on the one hand to the corresponding end of the suction pipe 5 and on the other hand to the hose end 6 immersed in the suction pipe 5 . When the hose end 6 is pushed back and forth in the suction pipe 5 , the film envelope makes these movements, so that there is no contact and thus no contamination of the outside of the suction hose 4 on the inner wall of the suction pipe 5 .

To achieve the shortest possible remaining length of the suction hose 4 in the idle state of the vacuum cleaner, it can be advantageous to design the suction hose 4 as a self-extending hose in a partial area and as a self-shortening hose in a further partial area.

Claims (12)

1.
