Abstract

A mobile phone is provided with the facility to lock/unlock its keyboard following the input of a locking/unlocking command. In the locked state, the phone stops scanning the keypad 113 and can only revert back to an unlocked state via the use of a release key. This stops the mobile phone from being woken up when a user accidentally depresses one of the keys whilst it is in sleep mode. locking/unlocking of the phone may be executed via the volume slider 115 or may alternatively involve the use of the hash key 116. The telephone may be programmed to automatically enter the locked state following a predetermined interval of inactivity. Saves energy by reducing keypad scanning power and preventing accidental transition from idle to active state.

Description

HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNGBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION GEBIET DER ERFINDUNGFIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a device and a method for controlling a terminal of the multiple access by code separation to reduce the elec to achieve tric power consumption, and in particular to a device and a method for controlling a Key lock operation in such a CDMA terminal, to reduce electrical power consumption achieve.

BESCHREIBUNG DES STANDES DER TECHNIKDESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

In such a slotted Operating mode, CDMA terminals can periodically provide data for one given period of time received during most of their Circuits in a sleeping state, namely an abge switched state, held during the other period to increase their electrical power consumption Reduce.

In the case of a portable phone, when a button is in an on state (in an idle state) of the portable phone is accidentally pressed, the phone state switched in an active state. In this case it takes a considerable amount of time for the phone to recover returns to its sleep state. With such a trag The phone can accidentally press its call button  will. Such an unintentional depression of the button results in unnecessary battery drain.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DER ERFINDUNGSUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An object of the invention is therefore to provide a direction and a method of controlling a key lock operation in a CDMA terminal to create a Achieve reduction in electrical power consumption chen.

According to the present invention, in which a key lock manually set, this is only free given when a call service is running. Where one Key lock function has been set, a Ta lock mode automatically on when no optional key input for a predetermined time is measured. Fig. 2 shows the configuration of a Tastenverriegelungsvor direction according to an embodiment of the present OF INVENTION dung. As shown in FIG. 2, the key lock device includes a key input unit 200 which is provided with a plurality of function keys which enable various operations of the mobile cordless telephone, such as setting the key lock function and dialing, to be carried out. The key lock device also includes a memory 300 configured to store information about setting and releasing the key lock function and a message informing about a key lock state, and a control unit 100 to set a lock bit that is assigned to set the key lock function in response to a key input received in it. The control unit also serves to reset the set lock bit in response to a release key input received in the state when the key lock function is set, thereby releasing the key lock function. Although one of the keys included in the key input unit 200 can optionally be used as the key for generating the release key signal, in the illustrated embodiment the volume key 115 is used for this purpose. The reason why the volume key 115 is used to generate the release key signal is that the key is located on the side part of the phone body, so that the likelihood of an unintended key release is reduced by an unintentional key actuation. The key lock device further includes a timer 400 that operates under the control of the control unit 100 . When the key lock function is set to an automatic mode, the timer 400 of the control unit 100 automatically enables the key lock function to be set when no key input is made for a predetermined time. The display unit 112 serves to display the key locking state under the control of the control unit 100 .

Fig. 3 is a flow chart showing a control method of locking keys, the keys using the locking device shown in Fig. 2 in accordance of one embodiment of the present invention is executed. The key lock control method of FIG. 3 relates to the case where the key lock function has been set in a manual mode. The sequential steps of the key lock control method of FIG. 3 will now be described in detail in conjunction with the configurations of FIGS. 1 and 2.

In step 3a, the control unit 100 determines whether the current operating state of the mobile cordless telephone corresponds to a key locking state. If the current operating state does not correspond to the key lock state, the method goes to step 3b. A key query is carried out in step 3b. Based on the result of the key query, it is then determined in step 3c whether or not a lock key input is received in the control unit 100 . When a lock key input is measured, the control unit 100 sets a lock bit assigned in the memory 300 in step 3d so as to set a key lock state in which scanning of keys other than the release key is prevented. The operating state of the mobile cordless telephone is thus switched to the key lock state. At this time, the control unit 100 also controls the display unit 112 to display a message informing about the set key lock state.

In the key lock state, the control unit 100 determines in step 3e whether or not a release key input is received from it. If a release button input is measured, the process goes to step 3f. In step 3f, the control unit 100 resets the lock bit assigned in the memory 300 in order to thereby release the key lock state. The method then returns to step 3b. On the other hand, if it is determined in step 3c based on the result of the key scan in step 3b that an optional key input other than the lock key input is received, the process goes to step 3g to a processing routine which the assigned key input is assigned to execute.

FIGS. 4 and 5 are flow charts each stenverriegelungsverfahren a Ta executed show, using the key lock control shown in Fig. 2 apparatus according to another embodiment of the constricting vorlie invention. This key lock control method applies to the case where the key lock function is set to be in a manual mode. The sequential steps of the key lock control method of FIGS. 4 and 5 will now be described in detail in connection with the configurations of FIGS. 1 and 2.

In step 4a, the control unit 100 checks whether an automatic key lock function key input is received from it. When an automatic key lock function key input is measured, the control unit 100 executes step 4b. In step 4b, the control unit 100 sets a function setting bit that is assigned in the memory 300 .

On the other hand, the control unit 100 checks the function set bit assigned in the memory 300 in step 5a when the phone is initially turned on or switched to its slotted mode. That is, the control unit 100 checks whether the automatic key lock function has been set or not. If the automatic key lock function has been set, the process proceeds to step 5b. In step 5b, the control unit 100 checks the lock bit assigned in the memory 300 to determine whether or not the current operating state of the phone corresponds to a key lock state. If the current operating state does not correspond to the key locking state, the control unit 100 controls the timer 400 in step 5c. Thereafter, the process goes to step 5d, in which key scanning is carried out. Based on the result of the key scan, it is then determined in step 5e whether an optional key input has been generated or not. If an optional key input is measured, the control unit 100 receives time information from the timer 400 in step 5f. Based on the received time information, the control unit 100 checks whether a predetermined time has passed or not. If it is determined that no key input is measured during the predetermined time, the process goes to step 5g. In step 5g, the lock bit assigned in the memory 300 is set to "1" so as to set a key lock state. The operating state of the telephone is thus switched to the key lock state. At this time, the control unit 100 also controls the display unit 112 to display a message informing about the key lock state set. In the key lock state, a query for keys other than the release key is prevented. In the key lock state, the control unit 100 determines in step 5h whether or not a release key input is received from it. If a release button input is measured, the method goes to step 5i. In step 5i, the control unit 100 switches the lock bit, which has been allocated in the memory 300 , to "0", in order to thus release the key lock state. The process then returns to step 5c. On the other hand, if it is determined in step 5e based on the result of the key query in step 5d that an optional key input has been generated, the process goes to step 5j to execute a processing routine associated with the received key input.

Thus, it is necessary, if desired, number keys for a telephone number or other function keys in the key lock state, press the release button to release the key lock status. In In this state, a desired key signal is possible to enter.

As is clear from the above description, it is according to of the present invention possible automatically a buttons lock function and automatically switch on  posed to trigger key lock function. So it is possible to prevent the terminal from being activated unintentionally fourth, reducing power consumption.

Although the preferred embodiments of the invention are made from For illustrative purposes, experts are know that various modifications, additions and Replacements are possible without sacrificing the scope and idea of Deviate invention as set out in the appended claims is described.
