Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a sleeve with a plurality of cassettes, each of which is accessible by itself and in which a supply length of an optical waveguide is stored.
From DE 44 05 666 a universal connection unit for optical fibers is known in which houses a variety of cassettes. The particular advantage with this Connection unit lies in the good accessibility of the assigned to a subscriber Single-fiber splices, each arranged in a separate cassette. The main cable will introduced from below into the connection unit designed as a hood sleeve, part of the Optical fiber is cut open and distributed via couplers on branching wires. A other part of the fiber optic wires of the main cable is continued uncut.
According to an alternative solution, only a supply length of the cable is put into the sleeve introduced in order to be able to branch off later.
The disadvantage of this sleeve is that the main cable at the assembly point in the sleeve must be introduced. Because of the limited flexibility of the wires in the main cable, this must be done Cables are inserted through an oval opening in the sleeve. Sealing such oval opening with a round lead in and a round lead out themselves very difficult.
The time required for the assembly of this known sleeve is considerable and Assembly is particularly difficult when the cable is in a busy area is or is relocated, e.g. B. next to train tracks. Then the splicing process must then be interrupted when a train passes by.
The present invention has for its object to provide a sleeve, its assembly can be made much easier.
This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
The stock lengths of the optical fibers provided within the sleeve are already factory-fitted in the sleeve inside the cassettes. The ends of the optical fibers protrude from the sleeve with a relatively large length and are replaced by conventional Splicing to the optical fibers of the stranding element to be branched off in a very short time optical cable connected. For example, 8-12 fibers are spliced and in one Cassette filed. Due to the relatively large length of the protruding from the sleeve Fiber optic cables can be placed at a correspondingly large distance from the cable will.
Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are covered in the subclaims.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown schematically in FIGS. 1 to 5.
In Fig. 1, a main cable 1 with z. B. 144 fibers, from which a variety of fibers are to be branched. For this purpose, the main cable 1 is stripped in a manner known per se and the stranding elements which contain the optical fibers are exposed. At least one stranding element is severed and the severed fibers are spliced onto the fibers of a branch cable 2 . The branch point is then sealed moisture-tight with a standard sleeve 3 . This standard sleeve 3 can be buried in the ground and should normally not be opened again.
The branch cable 2 consists of a corrugated plastic tube in which several bundles run, which are made up of a large number of plastic tubes. Each plastic tube contains an optical fiber. For better identification of the bundles, they are wrapped with differently colored ribbons.
The branch cable 2 is inserted into a hood sleeve 4 , which consists of a bottom part 4 a and the removable hood 4 b. A large number of cassettes, not shown in FIG. 1, are accommodated in the interior of the hood sleeve 4 each separately accessible. Each plastic tube is inserted into a separate cassette and the optical waveguide located in the plastic tube is stored with a supply length within the cassette. For this purpose, the plastic tube inside the cassette is removed.
The hood sleeve 4 can be accommodated at a certain distance from the main cable 1 in an underfloor container 5 or, in a manner not shown, in a container located outside the ground. The container 5 is provided with a removable lid 5 a. After removing the cover 5 a, the hood sleeve 4 can be removed from the container 5 . For this purpose, it is provided that a spare length is stored a 2 of the branch cable 2 in the container. 5 Since the branch cable 2 consists only of the corrugated plastic tube and the plastic tubes with the optical fibers in it, so there is no central tension element or strain relief elements, the branch cable 2 can be bent over relatively small radii, ie the dimensions of the container 5 can be kept small.
If, for example, two new subscribers are to be connected to the network, the cover 5 a is removed, the hood sleeve 4 is removed, the hood 4 b is removed and the desired cassettes are made accessible. In a manner known per se, the subscriber cables 6 a + 6 b can then be connected to the desired fiber using known splicing technology. The subscriber cables 6 a + 6 b led out through the floor 4 a are sealed off from the floor 4 a. Likewise, the cable 2 is sealed from the opening in the bottom 4 a. Since all openings in the bottom 4 a are circular and the cables 2 and 6 a + 6 b that are brought in and out are also circular, the sealing presents no difficulties.
In a cable 1 for the purpose mentioned, the number of optical fibers is z. B. 144, in some cases up to 192. In each case 12 optical fibers are combined in a stranding element. A stranding element is e.g. B. a plastic tube in which the 12 optical fibers are housed. For each optical waveguide of the stranding element to be branched off, an optical waveguide and a cassette are provided in the hood sleeve 4 .
In the factory pre-assembly of the hood sleeve 4 , an optical fiber from a plastic tube with an outer diameter of z. B. 0.9 mm surrounded. From an element so produced, for. B. lengths of 15 m separated. The plastic tube is removed from the middle of such a length over a length of approximately 2.5 m. The exposed length of the optical fiber is stored in a cassette and the ends of the plastic tube are fixed at the entrance to the cassette. Several, e.g. B. 2 × 12 such cassettes are prepared. The plastic tubes emerging from the cassettes are formed into two bundles and wrapped with differently colored ribbons. The two bundles are inserted into a plastic corrugated hose, which is passed through an opening in the bottom part 4 b of the hood sleeve 4 and sealed. The cassettes are stacked and the hood 4 b liquid-tightly connected to the bottom part 4 a. The space between the bundles and the plastic corrugated hose is sealed in order to avoid longitudinal water migration as is usual in cable technology.
Fig. 2 shows a cassette 7 , in which the plastic tubes 8 a and 8 b enter. In the interior of the cassette 7 , the plastic tube is removed from the optical waveguide 9 , so that the optical waveguide 9 is freely accessible in the cassette 7 . The cassette 7 has a space which accommodates the storage length of the optical waveguide 9 .
FIG. 3 shows a cassette 7 in which a subscriber cable 6 with two optical fibers 10 a and 10 b by means of splices 11 a and 11 b with the optical waveguide 9 is connected.
Fig. 4 shows a stack of twelve cassettes 7 with the associated plastic tubes 8 a and 8 b. The plastic tubes 8 a and 8 b are formed into two bundles 12 a and 12 b, each by means of a band or thread 13 a and 13 b, which have a different color for the sake of identification. The bundles 12 a and 12 b are surrounded by a plastic corrugated hose 14 . The structure shown in FIG. 4 is prepared at the factory and is located within the hood sleeve 4 .
In Fig. 5, two stacks are shown, each having twelve cassettes 7, one above the other are arranged. In this arrangement, a subscriber cable 6 is already connected.
