Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a current sensor based on the compensation principle and with the features specified in the preamble of claim 1.
Such a current sensor is known from DE-A-44 23 429. The circuit principle of the known sensor is shown in Fig. 4. The current i1 to be measured flows through the primary winding 1 of a current transformer which has a magnetic core 2 and a sensor 3 which measures the magnetic flux in the magnetic core 2 . Any sign-selective magnetic field sensor of sufficient sensitivity can be used for this. Its output signal is fed to a downstream evaluation electronics 4 , which delivers a signal dependent on the size and direction of the magnetic induction in the magnetic core 2 to the amplifier arrangement 5 . The amplifier arrangement 5 contains one or more linearly controlled push-pull output stages which drive a compensation current i2 dependent on the input signal through the secondary winding 6 and a terminating resistor 7 connected to it in series and connected to earth. The magnetic field generated by the compensation current is opposite to that of the primary current i1, and it is controlled so that the magnetic flux in the core becomes approximately zero. The current i2 in the secondary winding 6 is thus a measure of the instantaneous value of the current i1 to be measured in the primary winding 1 . This then also applies to the output voltage u a dropping across the terminating resistor 7 , which corresponds in size and phase position to the current i1 to be measured in the primary winding 1 . Since non-linearities of the characteristic lines of the magnetic core and magnetic field sensor do not go directly into the output signal by means of this principle of flux compensation, both direct and alternating currents can be mapped very linearly and with high accuracy.
Dadurch soll bei gleichem Kompensati onsstrom ein geringeres Bauvolumen des Sensors erreichbar sein.DE-A-44 23 429 proposes the secondary winding in at least two To split partial windings and each partial winding with its own, the compensation onsstrom supplying amplifier to connect. This is intended to compensate for the same a smaller physical volume of the sensor.
In compensation operation, the primary flooding of the magnetic core of a sensor according to FIG. 4 is the same as the secondary flooding. The converter ratio i2 / i1 is determined by the ratio of the number of turns N1 / N2 of the two windings. With larger primary currents of typically a few 100A to a few kA and a reasonable number of turns of a few thousand, the secondary currents are of the order of a few 100mA. A disadvantage of the known Kompensati onsstrom sensors is therefore their relatively high current requirement for generating the compensation current, which must be covered from an external auxiliary power source. At supply voltages of typically 10 to 30 V, there are power losses of a few watts, which are divided between the secondary winding - including its division -, the terminating resistor and the amplifier arrangement - and to a lesser extent also the magnetic field sensor and the evaluation electronics. This can be particularly problematic due to the heat development that occurs when, as in switchgear and drive systems, for example, several sensors are accommodated in a single housing or control cabinet.
To avoid additional losses in the amplifier output stages, the Supply voltage of the compensation current sensor the voltage requirement of Secondary winding, terminating resistor and output stage at the maximum to be measured If possible, do not exceed the current.
A supply voltage adapted to the sensor is, however, within a given range System not always available at no additional cost. Operation at an excessive The supply voltage, on the other hand, must be compensated for by additional losses accordingly higher utility services are purchased. Even with optimal adaptation there are still unnecessary losses at medium current amplitudes. The one The range of compensation current sensors in systems is therefore limited.
The object of the invention is to provide a compensation current sensor ben, which - with a comparable measuring current range - less energy from the auxiliary sensor giequelle takes, and with no excessive losses, even with an excessive supply supply voltage can be operated.
With a current sensor, this task is performed according to the compensation principle the preamble of claim 1 solved by its characterizing features.
Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen sind in weiteren Ansprüchen angegeben.Advantageous refinements are specified in further claims.
The sensor according to the invention contains a switched amplifier that is dependent speed is controlled by the measuring current. With this measure, the sensor can Minimize losses that occur. There are extended areas of application for specific versions so that the variety of types can be restricted. Au In addition, the range of short-term measurable current amplitudes can be extended to higher values.
A further description of the invention, its configurations and further advantages takes place below with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing len.

Fig. 1 shows the sensor according to the invention in a schematic diagram which largely corresponds to the circuit principle already described with reference to Fig. 4, so that only the changed function blocks 4 and 5 are to be described in more detail. The external ground potential is selected as the reference potential for the output signal in accordance with FIG. 4. However, the applicability of the invention is not limited to this case. The evaluation electronics 4 takes over according to the invention in addition to the Spei solution of the magnetic field sensor 3 and the processing of its output signals referred to as measured value, the function of generating one or more high-frequency, pulse-shaped signals A, A ', the fundamental frequency at a sufficient distance above the maximum frequency to be measured Primary current i1 must lie, advantageously in the range of a few 100 kHz or MHz. The high-frequency signals A, A ', the pulse duty factor of which is controlled by a pulse width modulation method as a function of the sensor output signal M, are supplied to the amplifier arrangement 5 . This is made up of one or more switchable, controllable semiconductor components, for example transistors, which - possibly via further components - establish connections from the output of the amplifier arrangement 5 to the supply (and possibly further, internally generated) potentials. The control of the semiconductor components takes place digitally in that they are almost exclusively either in the fully switched on or in the switched off state, and the transition times between them are kept as short as possible. As a result, the switching and transmission losses occurring in the amplifier 5 can be greatly reduced compared to the losses incurred in the case of an analog control.
A large part of the voltage drop that occurs with respect to the reference potential of the external earth arises via the inductive resistance of the secondary coil 6 . It does not generate any losses, but causes an instantaneous change in the secondary current i2 (t) with an increasing deviation from the setpoint. This again generates a change in flux in the magnetic core 2 , which is registered by the sensor 3 . The connection of this loop takes place in such a way that a negative feedback arises. As a result, the voltage drop across the inductive resistance of the secondary winding 6 is reversed and the current returns to its setpoint. If the control gain and operating frequency are sufficiently high, the high-frequency deviations from the setpoint remain small and the torque value of the secondary current is an exact representation of the current i1 (t) to be measured.
The pulse-shaped control signals A, A 'required for the operation of the switched amplifier 5 can, for. B. generated from an oscillator signal with a fixed frequency by changing its duty cycle depending on the sensor signal by pulse width modulation. Alternatively, a frequency modulation method with a constant pulse length or the self-regulating control oscillation can be used if a bistable element with switching hysteresis (Schmitt trigger) is integrated into the loop.
In addition to the advantages already mentioned, the principle described also has the those on that due to the elimination of analog amplifier stages only a limited one additional component effort is required that with a high clock frequency large bandwidth of the measurement signal can be realized, and that the current sensor automatically adapts to a wide range of supply voltages. By integrating a simple rectifier stage, the system can also be switched voltage supplies adapted and - for pure AC applications - u. U. can also be combined with a power supply from the load circuit.
Fig. 2 shows an example of an advantageous design of the evaluation and driver electronics 4 , and the switched amplifier 5 according to the principle described. The electronics 4 feeds the device 3 with a device 13 , prepares its output signal M and generates the drive signals A, A 'for two field effect transistors 9 , 10 , which are interconnected in a half bridge, with a driver device 12 . To generate the control signals A, A ', the driver device 12 contains a high-frequency oscillator and a pulse width modulator. According to the direction and amount of the current target current amplitude, one of the two transistors 9, 10 is clocked. During the off phase, the inverse diode of the other transistor acts as a freewheeling diode. Different pulse patterns can be used for this, but the two transistors must never be switched on at the same time to avoid short circuits in the voltage supply.
As an alternative to the example shown here, other variants can be used, which may differ due to the control method, the type of semiconductor switch used (bipolar transistors, IGBT, etc.) and the type of bridge circuits (half bridge, full bridge, for pure AC applications with a capacitive one Half bridge) and the connection of the measuring resistor 7 (external e.g. to ground, or internal). In the case of unipolar currents to be measured, the principle can also be applied with only one semiconductor switch 11 (see FIG. 4), but a freewheeling diode 8 must then be provided in parallel with the series connection of secondary winding 6 and terminating resistor 7 .
Since the supply current required to operate the magnetic field sensor 3 and control electronics 4 is generally small compared to the compensation current i2, it can be done directly in all embodiments without major losses with the aid of a simple voltage stabilization (e.g. consisting of the series connection of a resistor and a Zener diode) can be obtained from the external power supply.
