Description
Process for the preparation of water-insoluble monoazo reactive dyes The invention relates to a process for the preparation of water-insoluble monochloro-s-triazinyl monoazo dyes, which are particularly suitable for dyeing polyamides.
In the preparation of such dyes, an important step is the reaction of the amino monoazo dye with the primary condensation product of cyanuric chloride and a primary or secondary amino compound. It is how this z. B. is described in French patent specification 1177 851, the cyanuric chloride, which is known to be only very slightly soluble in water, dissolved in acetone and either brought in this form with the monoazo dye in connection or made a suspension by pouring the acetone solution into water, with which the further reactions are carried out. Working with acetone always involves a certain risk of fire, which must be taken into account, especially when manufacturing large quantities, by using specially secured apparatus. In addition, the acetone is lost in the reaction. Recovery is too expensive.
It has now been found that the disadvantages mentioned are avoided if one reacts cyanuric chloride with an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic primary or secondary amino compound in an aqueous medium free of organic solvents with the addition of small amounts of emulsifiers or dispersants and then the resulting primary condensation product in the same reaction medium with an aminomonoazo dye of the general formula Rl-N = N-R2-NH-R3 in which R1 is an aromatic hydrocarbon radical optionally substituted by - Cl, - Br and / or - N02, R2 is an optionally substituted by - Cl, - CH, and / or - OCH3 substituted aromatic hydrocarbon or pyrazolone radical and R3 is hydrogen or a radical of the formula - CH, - C, Hs - CH, - CH, - OH -CH2-CH2-CO-O-CH3 -CH2-CH2-CO-O- C2H5 or -CHZ-CO-O-CZHS means condensed. Benzene, for example, can be used as the aromatic hydrocarbon radical in the amino monoazo dye.
Als Beispiele für die Aminoverbindungen, die mit Cyanurchlorid kondensiert werden, seien genannt: Methylamin, Äthylamin, Monoäthanolamin, Diäthanolamin, Essigsäure-monoäthanolamin-ester, Cyclohexylamin, Aminoessigsäure, Aminoessigsäureester, ß-Aminopropionsäure, ß-Aminopropionsäureester, Dimethylamin, Methylanilin, Oxäthylanilin. As examples of the amino compounds that condense with cyanuric chloride may be mentioned: methylamine, ethylamine, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, acetic acid monoethanolamine ester, Cyclohexylamine, aminoacetic acid, aminoacetic acid ester, ß-aminopropionic acid, ß-aminopropionic acid ester, Dimethylamine, methylaniline, oxethylaniline.
