Description

Use of a steel for the production of cold rolls The invention relates to steels for cold rolling, in connection with a stepped austenitizing a substantial increase in the steel that was previously available for cold rolling from steels used for this purpose Allow hardening depths without causing overheating in the steel structure appear.

Cold rolling is usually made of steels with 0.80 to 1.100 / a carbon and 1.0 to 2.5% chromium. To increase the achievable hardening depths it is common to use steels with the basic composition mentioned, molybdenum and vanadium as well as adding nickel in small quantities. In this way one arrives at steel alloys, which have approximately the following composition: 0.55 to 1.2% carbon, 0.10 to 1.0% silicon, 0.5 to 2.0% manganese, 1 to 3% chromium, 0.1 to 0.8% vanadium and optionally up to 3% nickel, the remainder iron.

Making full use of these alloy additives to improve the Hardening is not possible, however, because it is necessary to achieve the required surface hardness water quenching of over 100 Shore required an increase in the hardening temperature would be required, which lead to the increased carbide solution, but also the hardness committee would greatly increase due to hardening cracks.

Also the way after austenitizing at elevated temperatures quenching from normal hardening temperatures does not lead to success, because this is associated with a coarsening of the grain, which not only reduces the hardness committee increases, but also the sensitivity of the roller made from the steel Use enlarged. As a result, the austenitizing temperature is on ranges limited, in which a larger proportion of the carbides present are still undissolved in the Austenite remains. The ones that can be achieved with cold rolling from the steels mentioned For this reason, hardening depths do not yet correspond to what is desired today Values.

The purpose of the invention is to propose steels for cold rolling which make it possible to achieve significantly higher hardening depths than with the previously usual Steel is the case. This object is achieved according to the invention through the use of a Steel with 0.70 to 1.10% carbon, 1.0 to 2.50% chromium, 0 to 1.0% molybdenum, 0 to 1.0% tungsten, 0 to 0.5% vanadium, 0 to 0.5% nickel, 0.11 to 0.20% aluminum and the remainder iron with the usual melting-related contents of silicon and Manganese as well as the normal impurities of phosphorus, sulfur and nitrogen solved.

Steels of this type are known per se, but not for that Manufacture of cold rolls. But especially here they offer something that should not be underestimated Advantage that consists in applying a certain heat treatment a much better hardenability can be achieved than when using other steels is the case. As a result of the aluminum content envisaged in the steel namely, it is possible to carry out the treatment in the austenite range at a higher temperature than usual and thereby achieve that more carbides go into solution. This creates the prerequisite for better hardening. To Carrying out the solution heat treatment is then the bale on a lower, but always the temperature still above A1 is cooled and quenched from there. These The purpose of cooling treatment is to relieve the temperature stresses inside the bale to reduce and thereby enable crack-free hardening.

Although it is already known a method which consists in the heat to be hardened objects initially to a temperature above Acl, then to a temperature between Acl and Ar, and cool from this temperature of abzuschrekken. In the known heat treatment, however, the reason for doing this is solely to reduce the thermal stresses that arise in the workpiece to a minimum and thereby avoid hardening cracks. For this purpose, the hysteresis is used, which determines the transformation behavior of such steels and which is shown in the fact that the temperatures Acl and Ar are clearly different from one another.

The present method does not use this hysteresis, it does is based on the surprising finding that the mechanism of carbide dissolution and excretion has a hysteresis, similar to the conversion mechanism.

It has proven to be particularly useful to use a steel Composition to use: 0.80 to 0.90% carbon, 1.60 to 1.80% chromium, -0.10 to 0.30% Mölybden, 0.10 to 0.20% vanadium, 0.11 to 0.12% aluminum and The rest is quiet with the content of manganese and silicon caused by the melting as well as, the usual impurities in Phosplrör 'sulfur and nitrogen. One of this Steel-made roller, for example, is initially used for extensive carbide dissolution heated to austenitizing temperature of 880 to 920 ° C, then in the furnace to the Quenching temperature cooled from 820 to 830 ° C and then quenched in water.

These measures can be used in the steels mentioned without crack and Danger of overheating, hardening depths can be achieved which correspond to those of air hardeners. In addition, by selecting the upper limit of the austenitizing temperature, the Hardening depth controllable within certain limits. The level of the austenitizing temperature is in adaptation to the respective alloy composition of the invention the steel to be used. Compared to the special example mentioned differences of at most 50 ° C. In practice, this means that for solution annealing temperatures between 850 and 970 ° C come into question. The quenching temperatures are always between 800 and 850 ° C, preferably at 820 to 830 ° C.

Instead of being treated in the furnace, this can also be used for steels known inductive heating can be used.
