Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The present invention consists in a method and the apparatus necessary for its implementation for the preparation of barium oxide from carbonate of barite and strontium oxide from carbonate of strontiane. The method is characterized in that the substances to be processed are placed in a closed container, which is respectively of electrodes. whose arc is permeated, introduced and decomposed while stirring at the same time. The electrodes may consist partly of the substance to be decomposed itself. The yield of barite achieved by this method is 85 to 90 pCt., While the method currently used - direct action of generator gases - only a yield of 25 to 30 pCt. revealed. Due to the high yield indicated when using the present process, the desugarization of the processes in the sugar factories or the desugarization of the molasses by means of barite has become worthwhile. The costs for the regeneration according to the method described are insignificant. However, a technical advantage lies not only in the yield, but also in the uniformity of the melts achieved by simultaneous stirring. In the electrical process, the ampere meter and voltmeter are used to maintain a certain temperature, whereas in the previously customary process the very high temperatures required cannot be continuously determined and maintained uniformly. The precipitated at the desugarization carbonate or barium carbonate strontia be BEZW by the present process immediately in the wet state again in Ba O. Sr O, and CO 2 are broken down in order to be added to the warm drains to be desugarized or to the molasses.
In the drawing, the apparatus is shown in longitudinal section.
Die durch die Zerlegung des kohlensauren Baryts frei gewordene Kohlen-The substance to be melted passes through the funnel A in a dry, moist or wet state between the stationary outer cylinder C and the inner tube-end cylinder D , which is fitted with wings B arranged in the shape of a screw, into the interior of the apparatus E. Here the material is passed through the The arc formed by the electrodes F and G is melted and accumulated in the existing sump L. The liquid material collected in the sump is simultaneously moved continuously by the adjustable stirrer K , located inside or outside of the rotating cylinder D and reaching into the sump L , for the purpose of obtaining the high yield given above. If the liquid material is sufficiently stirred, it is removed through the tapping hole H and collected in a closed container. The highly conductive extensions XY of the electrodes are sealed. In order to be able to regulate the setting of the electrodes precisely, a closable inspection hole Z is provided in the cylinder C. The carbon released by the decomposition of the carbonate barite
Die Kohlensäure kann auch seitlich entfernt werden.acid is discharged through the cylinder D , by means of a pump, etc. The carbon dioxide can also be removed from the side.
