Eine gattungsgemäße Brennstoffzelle wird beispielsweise in folgenden Druckschriften ausführlich beschrieben, nämlich DE-A-36 40 108, DE-A-195 44 323, WO-A-94/09519, US-A-5 292 600 und in "Spektrum der Wissenschaft" (Juli 1995), Seiten 92 bis 98. A generic fuel cell is described, for example, in the following publications described in detail, namely DE-A-36 40 108, DE-A-195 44 323, WO-A-94/09519, US-A-5 292 600 and in "Spectrum of Science" (July 1995) pages 92-98.
Fuel cells are electrochemical energy converters and comparable to Battery systems that convert stored chemical energy into electricity. in the In contrast to today's conventional power generators, this is done Electricity generation in a fuel cell without going through heat generation.
The heart of the fuel cell is the membrane, which is only used for hydrogen ions (protons) permeable. On the one hand, hydrogen flows over catalysts (e.g. Platinum catalysts) and is split into protons and electrons the other air or pure oxygen. The protons pass through the membrane and combine with the electrons acting as useful current with the Oxygen to water, the only waste left over. In other words: the Hydrogen releases the electrons at one electrode, the oxygen takes them over on the other electrode.
Plastic membranes are currently used in fuel cells. The relevant materials are in particular polysulfones (DE-A-198 09 119), thermoplastic polyether ketones and polytetrafluoroethylene with sulfonic Perfluorovinyl ether side chains (Nation 117 -DuPont).
Despite various approaches, the proton conductivity of the Membrane to be desired, both under technical as well economic considerations. It is therefore understandable that in particular in the Material technology of the membrane is a lot of effort.
With the fuel cell according to the invention using a proton-conducting Hybrid membrane comprising a matrix into which a channel-forming protein is mixed is that is at least up to 100 ° C temperature resistant, a new material Pioneered, combined with a high efficiency of proton conductivity at the same time technically simple and inexpensive production.
A hybrid membrane is a combination system of one technical and one biological material. The technical material is the matrix, while the channel-forming protein (membrane protein) that forms biological material.
The matrix of the membrane is a polymer material, preferably a thermoplastic Plastic, an elastomer or thermoplastic elastomer.
The thermoplastic is preferably based on a halogenated and / or sulfonated polyalkene, in particular a halogenated and / or sulfonated polyethylene.

Also thermoplastic elastomers, especially in combination with the above mentioned materials can be used, the proportion of thermoplastic Component is the proportion of the elastomer component.

insbesondere folgende Gruppen:
- - Halobacterium halobium, insbesondere Bacteriorhodopsin
- - Micrococcus
- - Actinomyces-Bacterium
- - Streptomyces-Bacterium

The microorganisms appear after growth and inclusion in the membrane killed.
wenigstens 100 Molen Kristallwasser. In diesem Zusammenhang ist insbesondere das
Natrium-Aluminium-Silikat der folgenden Formel zu nennen:
Na86[(AlO2)86.(SiO2)106].276 H2O
Advantageously, the matrix additionally contains a carrier material for the protein, in particular a molecular sieve with a high crystal water content, namely with at least 100 moles of crystal water. In this context, the following formula is particularly worth mentioning:
Na 86 [(AlO 2 ) 86. (SiO 2 ) 106 ] .276 H 2 O
Furthermore, it is advantageous if the molecular sieve is part of a partial Dehydration is loaded with the protein, forming a Molecular sieve / protein adduct. Part of the crystal water is removed and replaced by the protein. With this measure, the proton conductivity as well the structural strength of the membrane increases.
Es zeigen: The invention will now be explained on the basis of schematic representations. Show it:

According to Fig. 1, the fuel cell 1 comprising comprising a proton conducting membrane 2 as an electrolyte, a matrix in which a channel forming protein is mixed, which is at least to 100 ° C temperature resistant. The membrane 2 is covered on both sides by catalyst layers 3 . Gas-permeable electrodes in the form of an anode 4 and cathode 5 rest on the outwardly facing surface of the catalyst layers 3 . The electrically conductive plates 6 limit the fuel cell on the anode or cathode side, these plates forming a structural unit with the gas-permeable electrodes. There are also gas connections for the hydrogen (H 2 ) and oxygen (O 2 ).
Several individual cells 1 can now be interconnected to form cell stacks, the membrane contributing to a small overall space with a layer thickness of 0.05 to 1 mm, in particular 0.1 to 0.2 mm.
- - erste Einzelreaktion an der Anode 4 (H2 → 2H+ + 2e);
- - Protonenwanderung durch die Membran 2;
- - Elektronenfluss über einen äußeren Stromkreis 7, der mit einem elektrischen Verbraucher 8 in Verbindung steht;
- - zweite Einzelreaktion an der Kathode 5 (2H+ + 2e + S O2 → H2O).
- - First single reaction at anode 4 (H 2 → 2H + + 2e);
- Proton migration through membrane 2 ;
- - Electron flow through an external circuit 7 , which is connected to an electrical consumer 8 ;
- - Second single reaction at the cathode 5 (2H + + 2e + SO 2 → H 2 O).
Since it would be too expensive to close the existing filling station network through a hydrogen network replace, the development is towards the hydrogen directly on board the car produce, preferably from methanol, which can easily be made from natural gas or from renewable raw materials and that can be refueled like petrol. This requires a reforming reactor as a small chemical plant. Furthermore, the Direct methanol fuel cell with internal reformer using a Reformer layer known (DE-A-199 45 667).
Als Sauerstofflieferant genügt zumeist die Luft. The air is usually sufficient as an oxygen supplier.
The water that forms also ensures that the crystal water of the Molecular sieve not when using a molecular sieve / protein adduct is used up.
The proton localization via the membrane 2 will now be described in connection with FIGS . 3a, 3b.
With some materials (e.g. natural rubber), the matrix itself is almost impermeable to charged ions, including protons. In order to pass this through, a channel-forming protein, for example gramicidin, is mixed into the matrix and forms a water-filled pore. The protons can passively pass through the membrane along this pore due to the electrochemical gradient, ie without a chemical reaction which drives the process - FIG. 3a.

Realignment of the water molecules is usually still necessary between two transfer steps. It is believed that flexible side chains in the channels interrupt the water chain. Depending on the applied voltage, the side chain is positioned; it can thus open or close the hydrogen bridge (transfer) like a switch (no transfer) - Fig. 3b.
