Bei manchen Fahrzeugen wird zudem der Stoßfänger mit Schaum oder anderen elastischen Stoffen gefüllt. Den Großteil der Aufprallenergie absorbieren gleichwohl Querträger, die üblicherweise als Hohlprofile aus Stahlblech gefertigt sind.
