Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for producing a decorative molded part, in particular as a lining part for a motor vehicle, in which a veneer part is back-tipped with a reinforcing layer on the back and is provided with a transparent cover on a visible side. In view of the compression of the veneer layer produced during back injection and to improve the appearance, it is proposed with the present invention that the visible side of the back injection molded veneer part is surface-treated before the cover is applied.

Description

  • The present invention relates to the production of a decorative molding with a veneer layer, which is provided on the back with a back-injected reinforcing layer and on the visible side with an over-sprayed transparent cover. Such decorative moldings come in particular as lining parts for a motor vehicle into consideration. Thus, the present invention relates in particular to a lining part for a motor vehicle.
  • Lining parts in this sense, for example, deposits in dashboards, covers the center console and covers, decorative moldings or flaps, for example, ashtrays inside the side doors.
  • A method for producing a decorative molding of the type mentioned is out JP 30-30922 A known. In this prior art, the back reinforcing layer is formed by injection molding a basically any plastic. Thereafter, a transparent cover is formed by overspraying on the visible side. The transparent cover can also be colored. Usually, the decorative molding is produced by means of two-component injection molding on a turning tool. In this case, the reinforcing layer is molded onto the back of the veneer layer in a station, while at the same time as the last step in the two-component injection mold, the transparent cover is molded on the visible side of the veneer layer.
  • In addition to the previously presented prior art, the applicant refers to the DE 43 01 444 C2 as well as the DE 41 24 297 A1 and the DE 41 22 412 A1 as relevant state of the art.
  • Lining parts in motor vehicles must meet very high aesthetic requirements. The decorative moldings must match the highly technical and aesthetic features of the vehicle. The back reinforcing layer is also designed to be adapted accordingly with a view to easy installation of the decorative molding. Thus, inserts can be encapsulated for attachment in the formation of the reinforcing layer and connected to this.
  • The present invention is based on the problem to provide a method for producing a decorative molding with a veneer layer with improved visual appearance.
  • To solve the above problem, the present invention proposes a method having the features of claim 1. In the method according to the invention, the visible side of the back-injected veneer part is surface-treated before the cover is applied. In this case, the surface treatment is one which completely or partially reverses the compression of the wood fibers of the veneer part caused by the injection pressure acting on the back of the reinforcing layer. This compression results in some of the organic aesthetics of the veneer part being lost. This is where the present invention operates and interposes a surface treatment step between the back-molding of the reinforcement layer and the formation of the cover. Only after this surface treatment step, in which the compressed by the injection pressure wood grain is raised in parts again, the sealing of the decorative molding takes place on the visible side by applying the transparent cover. The transparent cover is usually applied as an overmolded plastic layer on the side facing away from the stiffening layer of the veneer.
  • The surface treatment can be carried out, for example, by moist air or steam. In such a surface treatment, the surface of the veneer part swells easily, whereby the compression of the veneer caused by injection molding is wholly or partially reversed. Alternatively or additionally, the veneer can also be brushed in the context of the surface treatment according to the invention. The brush acts on the slightly compressed surface of the veneer so that the fibers are straightened up by the brush. The brush can be a rotating brush which is pressed against the veneer and brushes the later visible side of the veneer part. In view of short cycle times for the production of the decorative molding, however, it is preferable to radiate the visible side in the context of the surface treatment, d. H. Blast blasting particles onto the surface of the veneer part and thereby re-erect the organic fibers. If the face-side cover is over-molded in a turning tool, blasting may occur during turning of the intermediate product, i. H. take place after the back molding of the veneer part to form the reinforcing layer. Alternatively, the intermediate product can also initially be removed from the injection mold, surface-treated and then fed to an injection mold for overmolding the visible cover.
  • The blasting is preferably carried out by blasting mineral, synthetic or natural blasting agents. To be preferred are ceramic or glass beads. The surface quality of the abrasive depends on both the speed at which the particles are shot onto the surface to be irradiated, as well as the nature of the irradiated Wood material of the veneer. So the particles can be basically spherical. Likewise, particles with a broken, angular and irregular surface can be used.
  • It has proven to be expedient to use blasting particles which have a particle size of between 10 and 300 μm, preferably of between 70 and 125 μm.
  • Furthermore, practical experiments have shown that the particles have a velocity of between 50 and 150 m / sec, preferably between 70 and 130 m / sec. should be shot on the visible side. The distance between the nozzle radiating the particles and the surface to be irradiated should be between 5 and 50 cm. It has been found that the jet of particles should strike the surface of the veneer at an angle of between 90 ° and 45 °.
  • For the design optimization and adaptation of the visible side, a further surface treatment step is preferably interposed between the blasting and the application of the cover. In this further surface treatment, paint can be applied to the top of the blasted veneer. Also, the blasted veneer may be treated with a primer to improve the adhesion of the cover forming material to the surface of the veneer. Alternatively or additionally, the blasted surface can also be treated mechanically, for example ground.

Claims (7)

  1. Method for producing a decorative molded part, in particular as a lining part for a motor vehicle, in which a veneer part is backed with a reinforcing layer on a rear side and provided with a transparent cover on a visible side, characterized in that the visible side of the back-injected veneer part is surface-treated before applying the cover becomes.
  2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the visible side is surface-treated by blasting.
  3. A method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that for blasting mineral, synthetic or natural blasting agents, preferably ceramic or glass beads are used.
