Dazu sind an den Getränkemehrwegfässern aus Metall UHF-Transponder angeordnet, die die Identifizierung jedes einzelnen Fasses auch bei Pulkerfassung und die Fassverfolgung auf dem Lebensweg des Fasses in der Logistikkette vom Hersteller über den Handel bis zum Verbraucher und die Rückverfolgung des Leergutes ermöglichen. Bei einer Vertiefung zum Anbringen der Transponder muss direkt am Druckbehälter (Fass) manipuliert werden, um zum einen die Transponderaussparung zu erzeugen und zum anderen die erzeugten Öffnungen wieder mit Material (Kunststoff) zu verschließen. Die andere Lösung benutzt eine Transpondervorrichtung, in der eine Schlitzantenne eingebracht ist, die senkrecht zum Fass ausgerichtet ist. Zum Erreichen der Lesefähigkeit der Fässer im Pulk werden mehrerer Transpondervorrichtungen je Fass angebracht. Transponder und Leseeinheiten müssen für diese Lösung speziell entwickelt werden.
