Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust gas purification system with control device, and more particularly to an exhaust gas purification system having a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system.
The SCR system has been developed as an exhaust gas purification system for engines (especially for diesel engines) which purifies exhaust gas from nitrogen oxides (NOx).
A shows an SCR system in which an SCR catalyst is provided in an exhaust pipe, wherein ammonia gas is supplied to the SCR catalyst as NOx reducing agent. In this system a solid reducing agent, e.g. solid urea, stored in a storage tank, wherein the solid reducing agent is heated for liquefaction by an electric heater. Subsequently, the liquid reducing agent is supplied to the exhaust pipe upstream of the SCR system. At this time, the reducing agent in the exhaust passage is evaporated to react the gaseous reducing agent and the NOx in the exhaust gas with each other. That is, by using ammonia as the reducing agent, a reduction reaction of the NOx in the SCR catalyst is performed so that the NOx is reduced and the exhaust gas is purified therefrom.
Preferably, in the case where a solid NOx reducing agent is provided to the system, the reducing agent is supplied to the exhaust passage after the solid reducing agent has been converted into a liquid or gaseous reducing agent. In the case that an electric heater is used to liquefy the solid reducing agent, a power supply device is necessary to supply electric power to the electric heater. In the event that an in-vehicle battery is used as the power supply device, the battery voltage drops due to the power consumption of the electric heater. To compensate for the drop in battery voltage, it is necessary to operate the engine, which could increase fuel consumption.
In view of the above circumstances, it is an object of the present invention to provide an exhaust purification system with control apparatus which can effectively utilize heat energy and adequately perform NOx purification.
The object is achieved by an exhaust gas purification system with control device according to
It is conceivable that in an exhaust gas purification system provided with the SCR system, a solid or liquid reducing agent is stored as a NOx reducing agent, the solid or liquid reducing agent is heated to produce a gaseous or vaporous reducing agent, and then supplied to an exhaust pipe becomes. Thus, NOx can be sufficiently reduced by a selective catalytic reduction catalyst (SCR catalyst). The present invention is particularly concerned with the exhaust heat of an internal combustion engine as a heat source for sublimation or vaporization of the solid and liquid reductant. The amount of heat supplied to the solid and liquid reducing agent is controlled using the exhaust heat as a heat source.
That is, an exhaust gas purification system of the present invention is applied to a system comprising a selective catalytic reduction catalyst and a storage section storing a solid or liquid reducing agent. Further, the system includes a heating section that heats the solid or liquid reducing agent and a reductant supplying device for supplying a gas or vapor reducing agent, which has been generated by heating the solid or liquid reducing agent, to an exhaust passage upstream of the selective catalytic reduction catalyst.
According to the present invention, the heating section uses exhaust heat in the exhaust passage as a heat source, and a heat control means controls a heat supply amount from the exhaust gas supplied from the heating section to the storage section. Since the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is used as a heat source to generate the gaseous or vaporous reducing agent, the energy consumption can be reduced compared to the case where the gaseous or vaporous reductant of the solid or liquid reducing agent is used exclusively by the use of a electric heating is generated. In addition, a deficiency or excess of reducing agent supplied to the selective catalytic reduction catalyst may be limited since the reducing agent is adjusted from the exhaust gas supplied amount of heat. Thus, the energy is used effectively and the exhaust gas is purified by NOx.
The amount of heat supplied to the solid or liquid reducing agent varies depending on the flow rate of the exhaust gas. At a higher flow rate of the exhaust gas, the amount of heat supplied to the reducing agent is greater. In addition, the exhaust heat, which is a heat source of the heating section, varies depending on the engine operating state or a state of an exhaust gas purification device arranged upstream of the SCR catalyst. If e.g. a filter (diesel particulate filter) that filters particles from the exhaust gas is disposed in the exhaust passage, the exhaust gas temperature during the regeneration of the DPF becomes excessively high (for example, 600 ° C to 650 ° C), and the exhaust heat is increased. In this case, it is necessary to limit the heat input to the reducing agent.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the exhaust gas purification system with control apparatus includes a flow rate adjusting means for adjusting a flow rate of an exhaust gas which is the heat source of the heating portion, and the heat control means controls the flow rate of the exhaust gas by controlling the flow rate adjusting means so as to control the flow rate to control the amount of heat supplied. Therefore, the amount of heat supplied to the reducing agent can be adjusted by the variation of the flow rate of the exhaust gas, so that preferably the amount of the gaseous reducing agent (for example, ammonia gas) can be controlled.
Furthermore, a branched off from the exhaust pipe bypass line and in the bypass line, a flow rate adjustment valve is provided. The bypass line and the flow rate adjustment valve correspond to the flow rate adjustment device. By adjusting the opening degree of the flow rate adjustment valve, the amount of heat supplied to the solid or liquid reducing agent from the exhaust gas in the bypass passage can be controlled. The exhaust heat in the bypass is used to heat the reductant. When the flow rate of the exhaust gas is reduced by the flow rate adjustment valve, a majority of the exhaust gas flows through the exhaust passage, so that exhaust gas is prevented from remaining in the exhaust passage.
As described above, it is conceivable that the exhaust gas temperature becomes excessively high. According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided at the storage portion a refrigerant circulation passage through which an engine coolant flows. The heat controller determines whether the amount of heat supplied to the storage section from the heating section is too large. If it is determined that the amount of heat supplied to the storage portion is too large, the engine coolant flowing through the refrigerant circulation passage reduces the amount of heat supplied to the storage portion. Thereby, the amount of heat supplied to the reducing agent can be limited since the storage portion is cooled by the engine coolant. Furthermore, it is prevented that an excess of liquid reducing agent is generated.
In the case that the amount of heat supplied to the storage portion is controlled by the engine coolant, a means for adjusting the flow rate of the engine coolant may be provided in the coolant circulation passage. Thereby, the control accuracy of the supply of the heat quantity can be improved. Furthermore, it is advantageous to cool the engine coolant supplied to the storage section by a cooler.
When the engine is in the starting phase or idling, the exhaust gas temperature is low. It is conceivable that not enough exhaust heat can be obtained to produce ammonia gas from the solid or liquid reductant. According to another aspect of the present invention, the heating section has a heating element that generates heat by electric power, and the heat control device determines whether the heat supply from the heating section to the storage section is insufficient. When it is determined that the heat supply to the storage portion is insufficient, heat is supplied to the storage portion from the heating element. Thus, heat is supplied from the heating element to the solid or liquid reducing agent when the heat input from the exhaust heat is insufficient so as to substantially prevent the ammonia gas to be supplied to the selective catalytic reduction catalyst from running out. That is, the heating element is used in addition when the heat supplied from the exhaust heat is insufficient. Therefore, power consumption is preferably reduced as compared with the case where only the heating element (electric heater) is used.
In the case that the exhaust heat is used to change the state of aggregation of the reducing agent, it is conceivable that the exhaust gas temperature decreases along with the thermal energy transfer. Meanwhile, it is necessary to keep the catalyst at its operating temperature to accelerate the reaction in the exhaust gas purifying catalyst.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a filter that filters particulates from the exhaust gas and an oxidation catalyst, which is the Oxidation reaction of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas accelerated, provided in the exhaust pipe. The heating section receives the exhaust heat from the exhaust gas as a heat source downstream of the selective catalytic reduction catalyst, the filter or the oxidation catalyst. The purifying function of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst and that of the filter are thereby maintained because the exhaust gas heat downstream from the filter (DPF), the oxidation catalyst or the SCR catalyst is used to change the state of aggregation of the reducing agent. That is, by utilizing the exhaust heat downstream of the DPF, heat of reaction for regeneration of the DPF is prevented from being forwarded to the storage portion. Furthermore, the exhaust heat is used downstream of the oxidation catalyst, so that the heat of reaction of the oxidation reaction can be used for the heating of the reducing agent.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the exhaust gas purification system with the control device has a gas storage section that stores the gaseous or vaporous reducing agent generated by heating the heating section. The gas storage portion is disposed between the storage portion and the reducing agent supply means. The heat control device controls the amount of heat supplied to the storage section from the heating section depending on a pressure in the gas storage section. The amount of ammonia vapor evaporated from the solid or liquid reducing agent is accurately detected depending on a pressure in the gas storage portion. The amount of heat supplied to the reducing agent is preferably controlled.

Speicherabschnitt 20 ander Abgasleitung 11 angeordnet.
- In the above embodiment, the reducing agent storage section becomes
20 supplied amount of heat as a function of the ammonia pressure PNH controlled. The reducingagent storage section 20 However, the amount of heat supplied can also be dependent on the temperature inside thehousing 22 that of thetemperature sensor 22B is detected, controlled. In particular, it decreases with increase in temperature inside thecase 22 the amount ofsolid reductant 25 sublimed or vaporized ammonia gas or vapor. When the temperature inside thecase 22 is lower, is also the amount of from the solid reducingagent 25 sublimed or vaporized ammonia gas or vapor is lower. When the temperature inside thecase 22 higher than a predetermined value, the valve becomes18 for metering the amount of coolant or the flowrate adjustment valve 52 Controlled in such a way that the flow of engine coolant in thecoolant circulation line 17 increases or the flow rate of the exhaust gas in thebypass line 51 is reduced. When the temperature inside thecase 22 is lower than a predetermined value, the flow of engine coolant in the coolant circulation line becomes17 decreases or the flow rate of the exhaust gas in thebypass line 51 elevated. At the same time, the heater can24 be turned on to the solid reducingagent 25 To supply heat. - • The solid reducing
agent 25 amount of heat supplied may instead of the ammonia pressure PNH depending on the by theexhaust gas sensor 16 detected exhaust gas temperature or controlled. In particular, the amount of the solid reducing agent is25 vaporized ammonia gas larger when the exhaust gas temperature is higher. At a lower exhaust gas temperature, the amount of solid reductant is25 evaporated ammonia gas less. If the exhaust gas temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature range in which the ammonia gas is adequately evaporated, the valve becomes18 for metering the amount of coolant or the flowrate adjustment valve 52 controlled in such a way that the engine coolant amount in thecoolant circulation line 17 increases or the flow rate of the exhaust gas in thebypass line 51 is reduced. On the other hand, when the exhaust gas temperature is below the predetermined temperature range, the engine coolant amount in thecoolant circulation line 17 decreases or the flow rate of the exhaust gas in thebypass line 51 elevated. At the same time, the heater can24 be turned on to the solid reducingagent 25 To supply heat. - In the first embodiment, the reducing agent storage section is
20 at theexhaust pipe 11 arranged. In the second embodiment, the reducingagent storage section 20 on thebypass 51 arranged. The position of the reducingagent storage section 20 relative to theexhaust pipe 11 or thebypass 51 however, it is not limited thereto as long as the exhaust heat is provided to the reducingagent storage section 20 can be supplied. The reducingagent storage section 20 can eg from theexhaust pipe 11 be arranged spaced, wherein the exhaust heat of air as the heat transfer medium to the reducingagent storage section 20 can be transferred. - In the second embodiment, the bypass is
51 downstream of theammonia removal device 14 and the reducingagent storage section 20 at thebypass 51 arranged. Thebypass line 51 but can be between theSCR catalyst 13 and theammonia removal device 14 or between theDPF 12 and theSCR catalyst 13 be arranged. Alternatively, thebypass line 51 upstream of theDPF 12 be arranged.
- In the second embodiment, a downstream end of the bypass is
51 with theexhaust pipe 11 connected so that the exhaust, which is thebypass line 51 flows through, to theexhaust pipe 11 is returned. Alternatively, the exhaust gas passing through thebypass line 51 flows, be discharged into the atmosphere. - In the above embodiments, the heat transfer section penetrates
21 the exhaust pipe wall11a and the exhaust heat becomes thesolid reductant 25 through theheat transfer section 21 fed. Thehousing 22 However, it can directly on an outer surface of the exhaust pipe wall11 a be arranged and the exhaust heat may be the solid reducingagent 25 over the exhaust pipe wall11a be forwarded. In addition, in the heat transfer section, at least one of theheat receiving fins 21A and the heat release ribs21B be omitted. - • During a set period of time after starting the engine, the heating may be switched off
24 the solid reducingagent 25 heat. When starting the engine, it is conceivable that not enough exhaust heat can be made available from the solid reducingagent 25 Ammonia gas to produce, since the exhaust gas temperature is low. Therefore, the heating heats up24 the solid reducingagent 25 during the specified period of time, thereby at least partially compensating for an insufficient supply of ammonia at the start of the engine. The specified period of time is defined as corresponding to a certain elapsed time after ignition is turned on or during which the engine speed reaches or exceeds a predetermined speed. - In the case of solid urea or solid ammonium carbamate, which sublimates rapidly, as a solid reducing
agent 25 is used, the housing may be provided with a reducing agent supply port. The amount of reductant solid fed through thereductant supply port 25 The amount of NOx in the exhaust gas is adjusted accordingly, and that of the reducingagent storage section 20 supplied amount of heat is controlled so that the temperature set in the housing one for sublimation of the reducing agent solid25 suitable temperature is. - In the event that the reducing
agent storage section 20 at thebypass 51 is provided, the reducingagent storage section 20 with thecoolant circulation line 17 be provided. The reducingagent storage section 20 amount of heat supplied may vary depending on the flow rate of the exhaust gas, the flow rate of the engine coolant and theheater 24 being controlled. - In the above embodiments, the heater is
24 for example provided. Theheating system 24 but can also be omitted. - For example, if an initial temperature for the production of ammonia gas from the solid reducing
agent 25 by evaporation or pyrolysis is lower than a minimum temperature of the exhaust gas, theheating 24 be omitted. Alternatively, that of the solid reducingagent 25 vaporized ammonia gas in thegas storage section 27 be stored when the exhaust gas temperature is high. When the exhaust gas temperature is low, the exhaust pipe becomes11 in thegas storage section 27 stored ammonia gas supplied. In this case, the heater can24 be omitted. - In the above embodiments, in the
heating 24 an electric heater provided as a heating element. Alternatively, the heating element can generate the heat by a chemical reaction. - In the first embodiment, the reducing agent storage section is
20 downstream of theammonia removal device 14 arranged. Alternatively, the reducingagent storage section 20 between the SCR catalyst and theammonia removal device 14 , between theDPF 12 and the SCR catalyst or upstream of theDPF 12 be arranged. - In the above embodiments, the engine coolant reduces the solid reducing
agent 25 from theheat transfer section 21 amount of heat supplied when the ammonia gas pressure PNH is greater than the upper limit Pmax. Alternatively, a cooling device (not shown) for reducing the amount of heat that the solid reducingagent 25 from theheat transfer section 21 is supplied, be provided. - In the above embodiments, in the reducing
agent storage section 20 stored solid reducingagents 25 used as a reducing agent. Alternatively, a liquid reducing agent such as a urea-water solution may be used instead of the solid reducing agent. That is, the liquid reducing agent becomes in the reducingagent storage section 20 stored and vaporized by the exhaust heat to become a gaseous reducing agent (ammonia gas). The gaseous reducing agent flows through thegas line 26 in thegas storage section 27 and first in thegas storage section 27 saved. Subsequently, the gaseous reducing agent (ammonia gas) through the outlet opening15 in theexhaust pipe 11 output. - The SCR system of the present invention can be applied not only to a diesel engine but also to a gasoline engine (spark ignition engine).
