Description
The invention relates to a method for burr-free cutting machining of workpieces with a two-dimensionally deflectable, focused laser beam.
In many applications, in addition to high labor productivity and high quality requirements. In the case of the laser cutting methods in question, this relates in particular to the formed cutting edges. It is also desired a narrow kerf. Among these aspects, the methods with a cutting gas supply are disadvantageous in that melting of material with the energy of the laser radiation is achieved and the melt is then expelled with cutting gas supplied under increased pressure into the kerf, although they can be made highly productive with small processing times.
In addition, methods are known in which a material removal takes place by ablation and thereby material is removed by sublimation of the workpiece to be machined. However, these known ablation-based techniques achieve low removal rates and can operate at low feed rates.
Important parameters during processing are a minimum power density at the focal point of the laser beam of 1 × 10 7 W / cm 2 , preferably at least 1 × 10 8 W / cm 2 and a minimum feed rate of 150 m / min, preferably 200 m / min, very particularly preferably maintained at least 700 m / min.
Due to the high feed rates during machining, material removal in the kerf in one go may not be sufficient to achieve complete cutting / cutting. But this can be counteracted with a cyclical passage through the respective machining contour. Thus, for example, for circular contours, the entire circumference can be run over several times, so that identical positions of the workpiece surface can be repeatedly exposed to the influence of the laser radiation successively. A pulsed operation of the laser used is, except for critical areas (corners, small radii) in which larger changes to the feed axial direction are performed, not required and is in many cases even disadvantageous in the formation of a cutting contour or a section. Switching off the laser beam is only necessary in a change from cutting a contour to a contour to be subsequently formed and a reduction in the feed speed, if necessary in the specified critical areas.
Now it has been found that although the quality of the kerf thus formed could be improved, burr formation on the edges of the kerf was unavoidable.
Now a variety of ways to eliminate or reduce the burrs formed are known. Various technologies are used. These may be, for example, electron beams, water jets, thermal chemical or electrochemical deburring.
In general, the known methods which have hitherto been used for deburring have the disadvantage that they are connected in an additional method step, which must be carried out with separate system technology, which in turn leads to a considerable reduction in productivity and cost increase during machining ,

It is therefore an object of the invention to propose a method with which burr on kerfs can be avoided easily and inexpensively in the cutting machining of workpieces with laser radiation.
According to the invention this object is achieved by a method in which the features of Claim 1 can be realized solved. Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention can be achieved with features described in the subordinate claims.
In this case, an at least two-dimensionally deflectable, focused laser beam which is emitted by a single-mode fiber laser or a disk laser is directed onto a workpiece surface for forming a kerf so that material removal is achieved exclusively by ablation. For this purpose, the focal spot of the laser beam is repeatedly moved over the same positions of the workpiece surface along a trainee cutting contour in a first phase of machining. The processing parameters of the process are not changed in this first phase of the processing and then in a subsequent further phase of processing before complete cutting of the workpiece. The focal spot of the laser beam is moved at least once with changed parameters along the cutting contour to be formed during the further (second) second phase of the machining, so that a remelting and / or a material removal at the edges of the kerf can thereby be achieved. A machined workpiece is then at the edges of kerfs, if not complete, at least largely burr-free. As a rule, however, the focal spot can be moved more than once over each position along a cutting contour to be formed during the further phase of the machining.
During the entire period of processing in the first phase, a feed rate of at least 150 m / min, a power density at the focal point of at least 1 × 10 7 W / cm 2 should be maintained and the laser beam should be focused such that the focal point has a diameter smaller than 100 has μm.
The focal spot of the laser beam can be moved n-fold over the cutting contour to be formed, so that each position is exposed n times to the influence of the laser radiation. Until then, however, the workpiece is not completely severed, d. H. the kerf does not reach through the entire thickness of the workpiece.
The complete separation is carried out exclusively during a further phase of processing and thereby changed process parameters, which will be discussed in more detail below. However, this should be preceded by the fact that the individual possible parameter changes can also be combined with each other in a very different manner in the second phase of the method according to the invention. It is also possible to carry out the process in more than two phases of the machining and to change the processing parameters several times, whereby the quality, so the burr freedom can be further improved.
According to the invention, the power density in the focal spot of the laser beam during processing can be reduced in a further second and possibly an additional further phase following the second phase. This can be achieved by reducing the laser power and / or defocusing the laser beam.
In a defocusing performed the focal spot can be increased so that its diameter is at least three times as large as the width of the formed kerf. It may have a diameter of 325 microns with a focal distance of 5 mm to the workpiece surface, preferably a diameter of 650 microns at a distance of the focal point of 10 mm.
The inventive method can be controlled and / or operated regulated. In a closed-loop control, for example, a distance signal or a depth measurement signal can be used, for example, to change the position of the focal point.
Alone or in addition, during a further phase of the machining to be carried out after the first phase, the feed rate can also be reduced.
As an alternative, it has been found that a kerf which does not extend completely through the workpiece during the first phase of the machining can be formed and burr formation can be avoided by carrying out at least one final separating cut along the cutting contour to be formed in the further phase Processing is performed, the laser power is increased. It can be processed with a power that corresponds to at least 1.5 times the power during the first phase.
If the laser power is increased during a further phase of the machining, it is also possible to proceed in such a way that a small kerf is formed during the machining in a previously performed phase with reduced laser power. For this purpose, the focal spot is moved at least once along the entire cutting contour to be formed. in the Following this phase, the complete separation of a workpiece with the significantly higher laser power can then be carried out. In this case, the focal spot can be guided with a higher number along the cutting contour to be formed. Each position of the cutting contour can be exposed to the laser energy as often.
In the method according to the invention, the focal spot can be guided with different numbers in the various phases of the machining along the cutting contour to be formed.
It is also possible, during a phase subsequent to the first phase of the machining, to influence the movement of the focal spot in such a way that the feed axis direction is changed in an oscillating manner and the actual feed movement is superimposed by an oscillating movement. This can be irradiated with such a movement, both the kerf, as well as their edges. As a result, a kerf with obliquely inclined walls can be obtained, whereby formed vapors and optionally formed melt can be more easily removed from the kerf.
In the invention, at least during the first phase of the processing, the feed rate should be kept very high compared to the conventional methods. It should always be kept above 200 m / min, preferably above 500 m / min and more preferably above 700 m / min. The invention will be explained in more detail by way of example in the following.
Beispiel 1example 1
With a laser source YLS-5000-SM with a power P L = 5 kW, a focused laser beam whose focal point was 25 μm in diameter was aimed at a workpiece in order to be able to cut out a contour.
The workpiece had a thickness of 1 mm and was made of stainless steel 1.4301.
In the first phase of the processing, the focal spot was deflected by means of two pivoting reflecting elements (scanner mirror) so that the cutting contour was traversed a total of 18 times at a feed rate of 800 m / min at a power P L = 5 kW. The workpiece has not been completely severed by then. A residual layer thickness of 0.05 mm remained in the kerf until the machining parameters for a second phase of machining were changed to completely separate the workpiece. In this phase, the cutting contour was traversed twice with the focal spot. The feed rate of 800 m / min was maintained and only the power of the laser source in a range between 500 and 750 W reduced. The edges of the kerf still had a ridge with a width of 100 μm and a height of 25 μm.
In this example, a third phase of the processing was performed in addition, while the power of the laser source again increased to P L = 5 kW. The feed rate has been kept constant at 800 m / min. The laser beam was however defocused so that the focal spot on the workpiece surface had a diameter of 650 μm with a focal point distance of 10 mm. The cutting contour with the defocused focal spot was scanned twice.
The edges of the kerf still showed a ridge with a width of 100 μm after this phase of processing. The height of the ridge was still 20 microns.
In a conventional approach, however, only burrs with a width of 200 microns and a height of 100 microns are achievable.
Beispiel 2Example 2
It was processed with the same laser source, a workpiece with the same parameters as in Example 1.
In contrast, however, in a first phase of processing, the focal spot was guided twice along the cutting contour to be formed. The focal spot is moved at a feed rate of 800 m / min and a focal point diameter of 25 μm. The power of the laser radiation was in the range between 500 W and 750 W. With this relatively low power a kerf was formed along the trainee cutting contour, which had a depth of 0.05 mm.
In a subsequent subsequent phase carried out subsequent to the first phase, only the power P L of the laser was increased to 5 kW and the focal spot was moved a further 16 times along the cutting contour to be formed, thereby completely severing the workpiece in the last separating cut.
The remaining burr at the edges of the kerf again had a width of 100 μm and a height of 25 μm.
