  • The measures specified therein are known as in-mold decoration (IMD) and described by way of apparatus, for example in PLASTVERARBEITER 2005, No. 5, pages 38-40 or in KUNSTSTOFFE 2006, No. 7, pages 68-71.   • As explained in more detail there, the transfer films are crystal clear-transparent or tinted or structured multilayer films with decorative and / or informative decors, which in the course of the injection molding process, ie in a single operation and without requiring further processing steps, on the surfaces of the thermoplastic Injection molded parts are applied. The decors are for each other distanced to each other along a long transfer film on this arranged. The is preferably unwound above a horizontally operated cavity of a supply roll and, after detachment of a respective decor in the cavity, then wound up again under the cavity without the decorations. In the cavity, the transfer film, each with a decoration facing the injection mold, is clamped in the correct position in front of the ejection mold and thus back-injected with the hot plastic when the cavity is closed. The cavity geometry of the closed cavity between the two mold surfaces results in the outer shape of the molded part, which is firmly adhering to the decor after cooling. This decor dissolves when ejecting the molding of a release layer on the transfer film. The latter is then further wound around a decorative division with the cavity open for the next positioning.
  • The thus decorated molding is fully automatically fed to a cleaning station and then a control station. In the cleaning station, any deposits on the decorated surface, in particular any residues of the separating layer, are removed by means of fluid streams. The control station performs a visual inspection of the applied decoration, compared to the given decor, on defects, auszuschleusen to false decors and pass only completely perfectly decorated parts in the clearance.
  • Such defects occurring in the decoration itself are based, in particular, on residues of the transfer film remaining on the surface of the hot ejection mold and solidified there. In the next injection process, such residues penetrate from the mold surface through the film into the decoration to be applied and then appear as dark spots on the decorated molded part. If such defects are detected in the control station, the production cycle must be interrupted to clean the surface of the ejection mold. For this purpose, the injection molding cavity is moved apart, and the transfer film is pulled into a loop in order to lift it from the ejection mold and thereby make its surface manually accessible for mechanical cleaning. Thereafter, the transfer film is rewound until it rests tensioned over the entire surface against the ejection form. Such a break in the production cycle cleaning is a time-consuming process, and she wastes several meters of transfer film with dozens of fresh decorations.
  • The DE 1 02 34 534 B3 relates to the partial encapsulation of small stampings such as electromechanical contact tongues. For the sheet metal strip, from which the contacts are to be punched out, passed through the injection molding tool, in the cavity of a punching zone is integrated, which occurs shortly before the complete closing of the mold in function.
  • In recognition of the above circumstances, the present invention is the technical problem underlying optimizing the cleaning process in the cavity in terms of time and material requirements.
  • This object is achieved by a method for applying decors on injection-molded parts with the features of claim 1, as well as for carrying out the method by a device having the features of claim 3.
  • Thereafter, the transfer film passes through an upstream punching station between its supply spool and its entry into the injection molding cavity. In the course of the production cycle corresponding to the feed succession a few successive decorations are punched window-shaped from the foil, so without this cut through.
