Description
The invention relates to a pressure increasing device for hydrogen according to the preamble of the first claim. In particular, the pressure increasing device is used in a fuel supply device of a motor vehicle which can be operated with hydrogen, the hydrogen extraction device of which comprises a container, in particular a cryotank, the pressure increasing device for gaseous hydrogen.
It is already known to store hydrogen, for example as a condensed gas in a container, in particular in a motor vehicle. For this liquefied storage special pressure-resistant containers are necessary, which should have a very good insulation due to the low storage temperatures. It is known to use to avoid heat input from the environment, double-walled, vacuum-insulated container.
However, if the storage takes place in the form of cryogenic, liquefied hydrogen, as condensed gas, an advantageously high range is achieved, for example, for vehicles, since in this state a high energy density is achieved, for example compared with storage of warm, compressed hydrogen gas.
The cryogenic, liquid hydrogen supply is stored in a boiling state in a thermally very well insulated, pressure-tight container. The energy density of the boiling hydrogen is by storage at a temperature slightly above the boiling point at ambient pressure, about 20 K, maximum. In the storage tanks technically converted today, the hydrogen is typically present at temperatures of about 21 K to about 27 K and the corresponding boiling pressures of about 2 bar (abs.) To about 5 bar (abs.).
In the lower part of the reservoir, the boiling hydrogen is present as a more dense liquid phase (also referred to below as LH2) and lying above it as a gaseous phase (also called GH2 in the following).
The direct promotion of hydrogen (hereinafter also referred to as H2) from the storage container into a supply line, towards a consumer, takes place in the simplest case via the static pressure gradient between the tank interior and the surroundings, or through targeted pressurization of the storage container. In principle, it is possible by the geometric design of the starting inside the tank flow line, primarily LH2 or only GH2 to promote.
Stored H2 is generally taken from the gas phase as GH2. If H2 is removed as LH2 from the liquid phase, in a mobile application, the following conditioners, eg. B. booster, or the mode of a consumer yet designed for the promotion of GH2. This is necessary because due to the possible deviations from the normal position of the mobile container, or dynamic, accelerated states, the inlet opening of a sampling line for LH2 can be systematically washed around even at high levels of gas phase temporarily. This is possible in the time course of the emptying of the mobile container, in particular long before the time at which the gas phase in an identical immobile container reaches the inlet opening of the LH2 removal line by pure removal. For this reason, in mobile applications H2 is mainly taken from the gas phase.
The reservoir is supplied during the H2 removal heat, which leads to the evaporation of LH2 in the container and thus to maintain a required for the promotion tank pressure that would otherwise decrease by the removal to the extent that a promotion would no longer be possible. This heat supply required for pressure maintenance via a separate heater, the z. B. can be designed as electrically operated heating element or z. B. directly by supplying heated, gaseous H2, which is diverted targeted a heated flow stream and in the inner container (back) is passed.
The aim is, in an internal combustion engine, the fuel in the gaseous state at least partially by Hochdruckeinblasung in the or the already compressed gas containing combustion chamber or combustion chambers supplied to the combustion, since this minimizes the risk of flashback and the power density and the efficiency of the internal combustion engine can be increased can.
To implement such high pressure injection, the pressure in the stored fuel must ultimately be high enough. This high-pressure fuel is used for the direct injection into the already compressed gas or air-fuel mixture containing engine combustion chambers, which in time, however, only works as long as there is still a sufficiently large amount of fuel in the pressure tank. However, if a certain amount of fuel is removed from this, the pressure in this pressure tank inevitably drops to such an extent that direct fuel injection under high pressure is no longer possible.
Thereupon, the still contained and only under reduced pressure fuel, at least to a certain extent, the internal combustion engine are supplied under low pressure for combustion, in particular under external mixture formation. However, the amount of fuel provided in this method of the internal combustion engine is not sufficient for full-load operation, that is to say that at a certain degree of emptying of the pressure tank, only partial-load operation is possible with low load requirements.
As a result, a larger part of the total filling quantity of the pressure tanks is available for the operation of the internal combustion engine, in comparison with a motor vehicle having a pressure tank. However, only one supply pressure can be achieved, which is less than or equal to the operating pressure of the pressure tank.
The metal hydride is used in finely pulverized form and placed in rotatable pressure-resistant containers, with connections for H2 supply and removal in a heat exchanger housing with a high and a low temperature range.
The metal hydride is cyclically charged with gaseous hydrogen and discharged. The control of this process is carried out by cyclically supplying and removing heat by rotating the containers in the heat exchanger housing. The loading of the metal hydride with hydrogen is carried out by absorbing the hydrogen molecules with heat release, the discharge of the metal hydride by desorbing with heat absorption.
Due to this mode of operation, the term metal hydride compressor will be replaced by sorption-hydride compressor. This should include all types of cyclable hydrides, regardless of their other material properties.
Characteristic of the prior art is that at any time in the pressure-resistant metal hydride compressor housing, the rotatable pressure-resistant containers, exactly one pressure and exactly one temperature is present.
In the prior art cycle times are typically several minutes. High compression ratios are due to the serial d. H. achieved multi-stage arrangement. Continuous promotion, d. H. an approximately Förderdruckschwankungsfreie hydrogen delivery is achieved by parallel arrangement of individual sorption beds and their time-delayed operation.
These prior art hydrogen promoting sorption hydride compressors have both systematic drawbacks due to their basic cyclical operation and those currently precluding automotive applicability with increased delivery pressures and mass flow rates in the relevant range of several kilograms per hour.
The weight of a Sorptionshydridkompressors including all components required for its operation is according to the prior art at delivery pressures of up to 350 bar and delivery rates of up to 25 kg / h several hundred kg. The construction volume including all components is then several 10 liters.
The cycle times in the range of several minutes do not allow adaptation to rapidly changing operating point changes of an internal combustion engine.
During the cyclic operation, the sorption bed is heated in each case via the heat exchanger to the desorption temperature of the metal hydride or cooled to absorption temperature. It is not only the amount of heat that is required for desorbing and absorbing the H2 in the water Metal hydride is required to transfer, but also the amount of heat that is needed to change the temperature of the pressure-resistant container structure. This heat flow component attributable to the structure of the sorption bed is not negligible and may be several tenths of the total heat flow at higher feed pressures which require a relatively stronger pressure-resistant structure. Therefore, it systematically reduces a possible reduction of the cycle time by, for example, improved geometric design of the sorbent bed.
Object of the present invention is to show remedies for the disadvantages mentioned. In addition, supply pressures to the consumer can be achieved, which are well above the operating pressure level of the hydrogen storage. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are content of the dependent claims.
According to the invention, there is a pressure increasing device for hydrogen, at least for the pro rata supply of a consumer burning in a combustion chamber fuel with hydrogen, at least from a pressure-resistant vessel containing a cyclic hydrogen de or absorbing under heat supply or removal, in particular a Hydrid forming metal alloy, wherein the substance is supplied by heat removal and hydrogen supply under a lower gas pressure with hydrogen and is caused by heat supply to the hydrogen release under higher gas pressure, cyclically changing at least a portion of the hydrogen absorbing material is subjected to a higher temperature. The invention is characterized in that, during operation of the pressure increasing device, a first subregion of the vessel always has the higher temperature and that at least the hydrogen absorbing or absorbing substance alternately occupies a position in the first or in a second subregion of the vessel. This second sub-region of the vessel always has a lower temperature than the first sub-region during operation of the pressure-increasing device. In this case, the high-pressure side of the pressure increasing device is connected via a connecting device to the combustion chamber of the consumer and the low pressure side of the pressure increasing device is connected to a hydrogen storage, in particular a cryotank, and the pressure increasing device increases at least in front of the combustion chamber, the pressure of the gaseous hydrogen at least temporarily so that the gaseous Hydrogen flows into the combustion chamber by utilizing a pressure gradient. The consumer can be in particular an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.
This has the advantage that the amounts of heat required for cyclical operation are significantly reduced. Therefore, a compression operation is possible in which the cycle time is shortened. Furthermore, this reduces the weight and the volume of the pressure increasing device, as well as improves the dynamics. Furthermore, such a pressure increasing device enables methods for internal mixture formation in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, is very low in wear and thus advantageously reduces maintenance costs. It can be achieved very high life and very low failure rates, with a sudden collapse of the hydrogen supply can not occur because no abrupt error conditions are to be expected. A vibration-, vibration- and noise-free operation increases comfort and the operating point adaptation can also take place independently of the state of the consumer by varying the delivery pressure.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the pressure increasing device consists of at least two pressure-resistant vessels, which are connected in series and / or parallel to increase the pressure of the gaseous hydrogen gradually and / or with a time delay. This has the advantage that the supply of gas to the consumer is reliably ensured. Furthermore, very high discharge pressures can be generated, which are significantly larger than the demand of the consumer.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the pressure-resistant vessel of the pressure increasing device is divided into at least two sub-housing, which are connected in series as a circuit by a first and a second connecting line and of which a first sub-housing always has the higher temperature during operation of the pressure-increasing device. In this case, at least the hydrogen absorbing or absorbing substance via the sub-housing and the connecting lines circumferentially occupies a position in the first or in the second sub-housing or in the connecting lines.
This leads to a further reduction of the weight and the volume, as well as to a further improvement of the dynamics in an even greater extent. A further reduction of the heat quantities required for the cyclical operation and a continuous compression operation are achieved.
A particularly simple pressure-increasing device is characterized in that the connecting device consists of at least one pressure line which connects an output of the pressure-increasing device with an input of the combustion chamber. If the connection device contains at least one compressed gas storage, this can also be used as a buffer, for example during the downtime of the load and not only during its operation.
An advantageous embodiment of the pressure increasing device is characterized in that the first portion of the vessel or the first sub-housing for heat supply waste heat of the consumer, in particular via the exhaust or its cooling device is supplied.
This has the advantage that no exergetic drive power is required for operation compared to mechanically acting compressors, compressors or pumps for the pressure booster. The operation can be carried out with anergetic waste heat and therefore have a favorable effect on the overall energy efficiency.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, a control device is provided for the pressure increasing device, which generates output data based on input data from the consumer and / or the compressed gas reservoir and / or the pressure increasing device and / or the hydrogen storage, at least for operating point adaptation of the pressure booster and / or Consumer and / or the compressed gas storage and / or the pressure booster and / or the hydrogen storage can be used.
