Durch Tiefziehen werden bekanntlich Hohlkörper aller Art hergestellt. Als Beispiele seien Töpfe, Dosen und andere Behälter genannt. In jüngster Zeit gewinnt zunehmend die Herstellung von mit Lacken überzogenen Kunststoffformteilen mit Hilfe des Tiefziehens an Bedeutung. Insbesondere im Kraftfahrzeugbau werden Ausstattungsbauteile für die Karosserie des Kraftfahrzeugs oftmals dadurch hergestellt, dass Lackfolien in einem gesonderten Tiefziehprozess vorgeformt und danach mit einem Fügeverfahren wie der Hinterspritztechnik mit dem Kunststoff dauerhaft verbunden werden. Dies erweist sich als ein Fortschritt, da auf einen aufwendigen Lackierungsprozess verzichtet werden kann. Voraussetzung ist bei einem solchen Vorgehen lediglich, dass der Lack ein tiefziehfähiges Material ist.
