Abstract
The torsional vibration damper has a primary side (12) connected to an IC engine crankshaft (23). This is connected via a damping system (32) to a secondary side (14). The torque transmission between the two sides is controlled by an electromagnetic coil (50) on the secondary side which interacts with a permanent magnet (48) on the primary side. An independent claim is included for controlling the actuator (magnet) system.
