Abstract
FigurThe invention relates to a method for generating random numbers in microcomputers of the test technique. It is used for stochastic execution of test processes. The essential features of the invention are that two non-corroded electrical oscillations, a counter and a microcomputer are used to generate random numbers. According to the invention, the counter started by the microcomputer and counting a vibration is stopped by the second vibration. The counter reading after stopping the counter is available as a random number for further processing. figure

The inventive solution finds application where random numbers are required in microcomputers, for example in automatic test processes in which the test takes place stochastically.
Solutions are known, which are described below. In DE-OS 35 13 916 a solution is described in which a feedback shift register is used with the possibility to change the number of clock pulses which separate the input word and the output word. This method has the disadvantage, in addition to a considerable circuit design, that a pseudorandom number is generated which depends on the input word and is therefore not really random. Furthermore, the solution is described in DE-OS 28 04 089, in which a counter is used, which is stopped by an operator at any time and further includes the possibility of setting the counting range by this operator. This method has the disadvantage that an operator is required and thus an automatic operation is not possible.
The object of the invention is to provide random numbers for stochastic testing processes controlled on the basis of microcomputers.
The invention has for its object to provide a method that makes it possible to automatically provide random numbers in microcomputers.
According to the invention the object is achieved in that two non-corrected electrical oscillations whose frequency differs at least by a factor of 100 are used. The oscillations are generated by two independent sources, in such a way that there is no correlation between the frequencies nor between the phase angles of the two oscillations.
The higher frequency vibrations are counted by a counter started by the microcomputer and the lower frequency vibration is used to stop the counter. The random number is then available after stopping the counter as a count for further processing.
Ausfuhrungsbeispielexemplary
The invention will be explained below using an exemplary embodiment.
Die Zeichnung zeigt das Blockschaltbild. The drawing shows the block diagram.
The generator 1 and 2 are connected in each case with a counter 3 and this with the microcomputer 4 circuitry. The generator 1 with the lower frequency is provided to stop the counter 3, the generator 2 with the higher frequency provides the vibrations that are counted in the counter 3. If a random number is to be determined, the counter 3 is started by the microcomputer 4 and counts the oscillations of the generator 2 until it is stopped by the generator 1. The count is then further processed as a random number in the microcomputer 4.
