V nej širším smyslu jsou mandaly diagramy, které ukazují, jak se chaos stává harmonickou formou. Mandala v dnešní době slouží i jako nástroj pro kreativní relaxaci a sebepoznání, využívá se též v arteterapii.Mandala, a Sanskrit word, means a circle or a magic circle. K tvorbě mandal lze užít různé předlohy anebo vytvářet vlastní vzory, např. s využitím pomůcek, jako jsou pravítka nebo kružítka. Dokonalejší pomůckou jsou šablony tvořené dvěma tenkými deskami - vnitřní kruhovou otočně uloženou v kruhovém otvoru vnější desky. Takovou šablonou je i dětská hračka, u níž je kruhová deska opatřena výřezy ve tvaru květů, hvězd nebo zvířátek. Používá se tak, že se obě desky položí na papír a obkreslují se tvary výřezů. Otáčení umožňuje uživateli zaplnit kruhovou plochu zvolenými tvary víceméně rovnoměrně. Takovou šablonou ale nelze dosáhnout dokonalé středové symetrie, která je podstatným znakem klasických mandal.Various patterns can be used to create mandalas, or you can create your own patterns, for example using aids such as rulers or compasses. Uvedený úkol řeší šablona k vytváření mandal, tvořená průhlednou kruhovou deskou opatřenou souborem výřezů a uloženou otočně v kruhovém vybrání základové desky. Podstata šablony spočívá v tom, že kruhová deska má na obvodu vyznačeny body v úhlové vzdálenosti 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 až 1/n kruhu od výchozího bodu, přičemž v každém bodu je proveden boční zářez označený odpovídající číslicí 1, 2, 3,4 až n.This task is solved by a mandala-forming template consisting of a transparent circular plate provided with a set of cut-outs and rotatably mounted in a circular recess of the base plate. Šablona podle obr. 1 je tvořena základovou deskou 1 čtvercového tvaru a kruhovou deskou 2 z průhledného plastu, která je otočně uložena v kruhovém vybrání základové desky i.
