Background
Existing quick connectors typically use ferrules to form a leak-proof seal. When the nut of the fitting is tightened, the ferrule is compressed between the nut and the receiving fitting. Due to this compression, the ferrule effectively bites into the tube, forming a firm grip and tight seal.
However, this sealing method has the disadvantage that any vibration, pulsation, thermal shock or side load on the fitting may cause the lock nut to loosen after a long period of use, thereby resulting in a loss of sealing performance of the ferrule and reducing the service life of the quick connector.
