由于现在生活楼层都很高，楼上污水或者下雨时雨水随主管道倾泻而下，随重力作用会产生很大的水流速度，即使是很少量的水，也会对下方管道产生很猛烈的撞击，存在安全隐患，与此同时，还会产生巨大的噪音，影响人们的生活。现有设计中会在管内壁增加一些缓冲水流用的栏网或者栏杆，会拦截一些异物，加速管体阻塞，不能满足需求。
