在管道中起截断介质的球阀种类很多，有硬质密封偏心球阀和软密封偏心半球阀，硬密封偏心半球阀的密封是金属对金属，长时间使用后相接触面会相互摩擦，使密封有一定的泄漏，软密封偏心半球阀的密封是金属对橡胶，长时间使用后相接触面不会相互摩擦，密封可达到零泄漏，目前市场上已有的软密封结构在使用时虽然达到零密封的效果，但其结构复杂、安装维修不方便，特别是在容易发生结垢的恶略环境中使用，因结垢现象的产生而影响到阀门的自如开启，降低了工作效率，影响了使用寿命和经济效益。

本实用新型的工作原理是靠旋转阀芯来使阀门畅通或闭塞，同时上、下半轴与轴承座之间和半球形阀芯与阀体流道一侧之间分别采用软密封结构，使得球阀开关轻便，密封可靠，密封面与球面常在闭合状态，不易被介质冲蚀；而且其各部件之间的连接简单、密封、稳固，不会因长期使用而出现故障或因结垢现象的产生而影响到阀门的自如开启。
