目前，临床医学上常用的小便标本收集器具一般为敞口尿杯，病人在化验小便时需将尿液置入尿杯中，由于尿杯无专用手柄，尿液容易污染患者手。另外，尿杯杯口处也不密封，小便在送检的过程中容易溅出和散发气味，污染周围环境。还有，化验人员在进行化验时需将尿杯中的尿液倒入试管中，容易将尿液洒在试管外面。
