Abstract

技术领域
本发明总的涉及一种移动通信系统，具体地说，涉及一种用于控制向诸如商业飞机的移动平台发送数据的系统和方法。
背景技术
宽带数据和视频服务以前对诸如飞机、轮船、火车、汽车以及其它集体运输工具等移动平台上的用户是不可获得的。虽然技术上实现了将这样的服务发送到不同形式的移动平台，过去的解决方案一般比较昂贵、数据率低和/或仅用于官方的有限市场或军队用户以及一些高端的海运市场(例如游轮)。
以前开发的试图向移动平台提供数据服务的系统只是很有限地做到了这一点。一个主要障碍是访问宽带数据服务的高昂费用，以及以前开发的系统的有限容量，其对集体运送成百甚至上千个客人的多个移动平台来说是不够的，其中每个客人可能同时请求不同的数据服务。此外，现有的移动通信系统一般不能升级以满足旅行者的要求。
当前的移动平台连接方法本质上是窄带的，并限制数据流向不可能实现普通网络任务的点。典型地，这样的连接通过在用户的计算机和空中-地面或轮船-海岸电话系统之间采用标准计算机电话调制解调器来实现。在这样一个系统中，每个用户在其网络会话持续期间独占使用整个通信信道，并有效地防止其他人使用电话系统的该部分。
另一种公知的移动通信服务通常向移动平台上的用户提供预先存储的万维网内容。该服务期望结合位于移动平台上的服务器，以便通过简单的触摸屏界面向该移动平台上的用户提供其存储的内容。位于服务器上的内容每隔几个星期在移动平台处于非活动状态时更新一次，例如在飞机停在机场入口，或轮船停泊在港口时。移动平台上的数据更新通过装载CD ROM(致密盘只读存储器)或更换服务器上的硬盘来完成。尽管存储在具有这一服务的移动平台上的内容可能不同，但决不会是及时的和最新的。
考虑上述说明，非常需要提供一种用于向移动平台上的用户提供实况和最新数据的系统和方法。具体地说，需要以区分优先次序和实时的方式向多个移动平台上的多种用户提供因特网数据通信(例如网页内容发送)、视频数据服务和音频数据服务及其它。
发明内容
在一个优选实施方式中，本发明提供一种用于向移动平台分配内容的系统，该系统通常包括含有分配内容的规则的数据库和与该数据库通信的决策算法，该决策算法的输出发送到内容发送系统，以控制向移动平台的内容发送。因此，对移动平台的内容的发送和更新，例如因特网网页内容、视频数据和音频数据由本发明的系统设置优先级。例如，决策算法可以确定一组用户比另一组优先，或者改变网页更新以适应特定用户或商业航线的需要。
决策算法还与提供关于可使用移动平台的信息的链接管理系统、或者目前在航线上并请求发送内容的飞机通信。此外，决策算法与多个提供增加的带宽利用的缓冲器通信。通常，该缓冲器由决策算法监测，以确定加载到每个缓冲器上的百分比，并由此确定如何向移动平台重新分配内容。
数据库和决策算法优选设置在通过卫星通信与移动平台通信的地面控制站中，该方法记载在2000年8月16日申请的名为“Method and ApparatusFor Providing Bi-Directional Data Services and Live Television Programming toMobile Platforms(用于向移动平台提供双向数据服务和实况电视节目的方法和系统”的申请文件09/639912中，该申请被转让给本申请的受让人，并在此作为参考与本申请合成为一个整体。
在另一优选方式中，提供了一种向移动平台分配内容的方法，其中该内容设置了优先级，并部分根据所述决策算法执行的规则被发送到多个移动平台上的不同用户。通常，决策算法的输出传送到内容发送系统，其中设置了优先级的内容从决策算法传送到内容发送系统，并因此根据数据库中的规则和决策算法确定的优先级将该内容发送到移动平台。此外，所述方法包括步骤：从链接管理系统提供关于可使用移动平台的信息；以及监视多个缓冲器，以确定何时重新分配内容。
本发明的其它应用领域将从下面的详细描述中更加明显。应当理解，在说明本发明优选实施方式的同时，详细的描述和特定的例子只是用于说明，并非用来限制本发明的范围。

以下优选实施方式的描述只是示例性的，决不是用来限定本发明、本发明的申请或其应用。
参照附图，根据本发明用于向移动平台发送内容的系统在图1中一般性地由附图标记10表示。如图所示，系统10包括与数据库14和内容发送系统16通信的决策算法12，其中内容发送系统16管理和控制内容18向一个或多个移动平台20的发送。
虽然这里的详细描述是针对向商业飞机上的乘客发送内容的飞行中的系统，本发明还可用于其它集体运输模式，例如轮船、火车、公共汽车等等，对飞机的参考不应当构成为限制本发明的范围。此外，这里使用的术语“内容”包括通信数据，例如因特网页内容、诸如飞行中音乐或广播信息的音频数据、诸如飞行中娱乐节目的视频数据或单元数据(cellular data)及其它。
决策算法12部分根据数据库14中用于分配内容18的规则集执行。例如，该规则可以设定一组用户比另一组优先，例如一等舱的乘客比二等舱的乘客或一条航线比另一条航线优先，也可以更改网页内容更新速率以适应特定用户或用户组的需要。此外，该规则可以建立特定的移动平台，对特定类型的内容具有优先级。因此，内容发送系统16根据数据库14中灵活的规则集向移动平台20发送已经由决策算法12设定了优先级的内容，这使得数据能更为有效地发送到多个移动平台20。
如进一步所示，决策算法12与链接管理系统22通信。链接管理系统22提供关于哪个移动平台20可供利用来获得内容18的信息。因此，决策算法12利用这样的信息和数据库14中的规则，以便设置向内容发送系统16传送的内容的优先级。例如，数据库14可以包含这样一条规则，即具有某个末尾数字的飞机只请求某个类型的内容18。此外，决策算法12可以这样执行，使得请求特定类型内容(例如指定因特网网站)的某些飞机末尾数字被给予最高优先级。因此，数据库14中的任何规则和规则组合以及决策算法12中的优先级都可以用来根据特定的应用要求控制内容18向移动平台20的分配。
如进一步说明的，决策算法12也与多个路由器24通信。通常，路由器24将通过不同RF(无线电频率)链路发射的数据传送到与地面控制站通信的卫星。在实践中，决策算法12监视路由器24以确定每个缓冲器上的加载，然后决策算法12可以根据该加载执行优先级。例如，如果缓冲器达到其容量的50％或更少，则内容18可能仅仅向内容发送系统16重新发送。因此，可以改善带宽的利用，以促进内容18向移动平台20的有效传送。
因此，提供了一种用于向移动平台传送内容的系统和方法，其中根据来自例如数据库、链接管理系统和多个路由器中的规则的多个输入内容，以设置了优先级的顺序将内容发送到多个移动平台。由此，内容以及时和低成本的方式被发送到移动平台上的用户。
本发明的描述仅为示例性，因此，不脱离本发明实质的更改在本发明的范围之内。这样的更改不能视为脱离本发明的精神和范围。

Claims (18)

1.一种用于向移动平台分配内容的系统，包括：
含有内容分配规则的数据库；
与该数据库通信的决策算法；以及
内容发送系统，
其中执行所述决策算法，以将来自数据库的规则通信到内容发送系统，以控制内容向移动平台的分配。
2.如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括与所述决策算法通信的链接管理系统，其中该链接管理系统向所述决策算法提供可供使用的移动平台。
3.如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括与所述决策算法通信的多个缓冲器，以提供带宽利用。
4.如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述数据库和决策算法位于与所述移动平台通信的地面控制站中。
5.如权利要求4所述的系统，其中所述地面控制站通过卫星通信与所述移动平台通信。
6.如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述内容包括因特网网页。
7.如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述内容包括音频数据。
8.如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述内容包括视频数据。
9.如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述决策算法存储在所述数据库中。
10.一种用于向移动平台分配内容的系统，包括：
含有内容分配规则的数据库；
与该数据库通信的决策算法；
与该决策算法通信的链接管理系统，其中该链接管理系统向决策算法提供可供使用的移动平台；
多个与决策算法通信的缓冲器，以提供带宽利用；以及
内容发送系统，
其中执行所述决策算法，以将来自数据库的规则通信到内容发送系统，以控制内容向移动平台的分配。
11.如权利要求10所述的系统，其中所述数据库和决策算法位于与所述移动平台通信的地面控制站中。
12.如权利要求11所述的系统，其中所述地面控制站通过卫星通信与所述移动平台通信。
13.如权利要求10所述的系统，其中所述内容包括因特网网页。
14.如权利要求10所述的系统，其中所述内容包括音频数据。
15.如权利要求10所述的系统，其中所述内容包括视频数据。
16.一种向移动平台分配内容的方法，包括步骤：
(a)执行决策算法，与具有内容分配规则的数据库通信；
(b)向内容发送系统发送来自决策算法的输出；以及
(c)根据数据库中的规则向移动平台分配内容。
17.如权利要求16所述的方法，进一步包括：从链接管理系统向所述决策算法提供可使用移动平台。
18.如权利要求16所述的方法，进一步包括监视在提供带宽利用的多个缓冲器上的加载。
