Abstract

发明领域
本发明涉及一种用于在外线设备环境中容纳光纤通讯设备的装置。更具体地说,本发明涉及一种用于容纳光纤通讯系统的交叉连接和/或互连设备的包封和管理装置。本发明还涉及用于容纳诸如分光器、波分多路复用器之类的光耦合器的模件。
发明背景
随着通讯领域中使用光纤技术的日益增多,需要一种可实现交叉连接功能和互连功能、同时可保护野外元件的装置。例如,需要能接近室外地点的光缆,该光缆诸如容纳于位于楼房附近的一封壳内,这些楼房在该封壳处连接于一馈线。
为了保护光纤连接免受环境影响和因冲击或破坏行为而受损,这种设备容纳于封壳内,这些封壳可安全地锁住以杜绝未经许可的进入。封壳的一个例子示于美国专利No.5,734,776中。该封壳具有一圆形的底座,并呈圆筒形。也有比较方形的封壳。俄亥俄州Cleveland的Reltec(Realiable Electric)出售一种大致呈方形的封壳或基座,它通常由金属制成,涂成绿色并标识为CAD12。Reltec CAD12封壳在底座处为大致为12英寸×12英寸,高约三到四英尺。
在封壳内提供交叉连接和/或互连功能是合乎需要的。而且,还需要系统装配简单,并且在系统以后的维护中可方便地进入。需要另外的装置和方法用来包封和管理具有交叉连接和互连功能的外线设备。也需要包封和管理光纤接头位置和光耦合器。
发明概要
一种光纤配线架装置包括一框架件,该框架件具有上部和下部模件安装架。上部和下部模件安装架相隔开而限定一个用于接纳安装于框架件的多个光纤模件的空间。每个模件包括一个前部和两个安装凸缘。每个安装凸缘可安装于上部和下部模件安装架中的一个。

本发明还涉及构成一光纤配线架装置的各单独元件。一框架件包括由上部和下部模件安装架定界的一开放的前部。下部模件安装架还包括多个构制和设置用于接纳光缆的开口。一封壳围绕该框架件。
本发明的一连接模件包括一前部和两个安装凸缘。模件的后部与该前部相隔开。相邻于凸缘设置有一顶部和底部,相对并隔开的侧部为连接模件限定一封闭的内部。连接模件的内部容纳多个连接位置,这些连接位置沿前部具有暴露的开口。底部、后部和相对的侧部限定一光缆凹口区,该光缆凹口区限定一用于接纳一第一光缆的开口。

连接模件可以在其内部容纳一接头,该接头连接于通过光缆凹口区进入模件的第一光缆与通向模件前部上的连接位置或通向模件内部所容纳的一或多个光耦合器的单独光缆之间。耦合器的例子包括分光器和波分多路复用器。

较佳实施例详细描述
下面参见图1和3,图中示出一用于交叉连接场合的光纤配线装置10。图2和4表示构制用于互连场合的一类似的光纤配线装置10’。两个装置10、10’均包括一外封壳20和一内框架22,该内框架安装有多个光学模件23。如下面将要详细描述的,模件23具有具体的功能,装置10、10’最好具有不同的模件23,它们选择具有所需要的功能用于具体的场合。
封壳20通常罩覆在地下光缆300、302(图3)和400、402(图4)上从地面延伸出来,这些光缆从地面向上延伸,并含有许多单独的光缆或光缆束。光缆300、302、400、402可以是单芯光缆或多芯光缆。封壳20保护内部元件,在本例中是保护光学通讯设备。封壳20可以是尺寸制成保护框架22和模件23的任何有利的结构。在附图中,封壳20包括一从地面延伸出来的主体竖直部分40和一顶盖42。通常,设有一活动的前门,并且有一把锁提供保护措施。

如果需要的话,上部和下部模件安装架66、68以及光缆托架60可以沿它们的端部直接安装于封壳20。这种结构可省去诸如框架22的后部56和侧部58之类的零件。而且,如果需要的话,可以省去罩盖76。
下面参见图1-4和8-12,图中示出一连接模件24。连接模件24构成模件23中的一个。连接模件24包括一前部90,该前部限定许多连接位置91。前部90还具有相对的安装凸缘92、94,它们沿前部90延伸,用于安装于框架22的模件安装架66、68。凸缘92、94各具有多个用于接纳固定件70的孔96、98。连接模件24的相隔开的后部100和相隔开的顶部102和底部104以及相对并隔开的侧部106、108限定一内部区域。由后部100、底部104和侧部106、108的一部分形成的一光缆凹口110容纳一光缆300,供在模件24的内部连接于连接位置91。凹口110还具有一用于光缆300的开口112。开口112足够大,以容纳一或多条额外的光缆。
每个连接位置91最好具有一适配器200,用于安装于一光纤连接器,诸如SC(图示)、ST、FC、或其它连接器。在开口112处进入连接模件24的光缆300包括其单独的光纤,这些光纤根据需要连接于单独的连接位置91。光缆300的两条所示的示例光纤300a、300b连接于两个连接位置91。在光纤300a、300b的一端上最好有一连接器208(图11)。适配器200最好具有两个端部202和204。端部202设置在模件24内用于连接于连接器208。相对的端部204沿模件24的前部限定连接位置91的暴露的开口用于连接于一第二连接器218。可以使用一个夹子210来使各适配器可拆地连接于模件24,诸如是用美国专利No.5,214,735中所揭示的那种夹子。当模件24如图所示安装于框架22中时,夹子210也使连接位置91朝下倾斜。在较佳实施例中,每个夹子210将各适配器200保持于模件24的前部90的开口93中,以限定各连接位置。在所示的模件24的实施例中,只有示出两个连接位置91,但一个满载的模件24将在每个开口93处限定一个连接位置91。夹子210最好是一卡合安装夹,以方便装配。应优选可拆式夹子210,以允许根据需要对连接器208和端部202进行清洁。
框架22安装有一类似结构的第二连接模件24a,以允许通过使用接插线114a、114b(图3)实现交叉连接,在连接于相应连接模件24、24a的各光缆的光纤之间交叉连接。如光缆300连接于模件24一样,光缆302连接于模件24a的后部。接插线114a、114b和光纤300a、300b示意性地示于图3和9中,但每条光纤具有一个象连接器208、218一样的连接器,用以与适配器200相配。或者,可以根据需要使用上面所提到的其它连接器系统。
每个连接模件24、24a可以由金属片材制成,用诸如螺钉之类的固定件夹持于一起,以允许根据需要接近每个模件的内部。
为了便于光缆管理以及光缆的保护,作为模件23中的一个,设置一交叉连接储存模件26,它沿前部120具有三个卷轴116(图1、3和20)。作为模件23中的一个,沿一互连储存模件26a的前部120设置两个卷轴116(图2、4和21)。凸缘124、126允许将各储存模件26、26a以类似于模件24、24a的方式安装于框架22。孔128、130接纳固定件70,以将储存模件26、26a安装于框架22。沿竖直侧缘117的前部突起118在使用过程中可进一步提供光缆管理和光缆保护。对于互连系统,设置有一光缆夹134(图4),用于将一或多根光缆在前部安装于储存模件26a。柱销135(图21)保持夹片。
光缆凹口110可用来在对连接模件24进行操作和定位过程中避免光缆过度弯曲。使用凹口110可在从地面朝上延伸到模件24上的夹子安装位置的光缆之间提供更大的距离。在将模件24安装入框架22或从中拆下过程中对其进行处理时,有富裕的距离是较为有利的。
在图3的交叉连接系统实例中,在模件24、24a之间的交叉连接场合,光缆300的两条光纤300a、300b(图9)表示为通过接插线114a、114b光学连接于光缆302的两条光纤。在图4的互连系统实例中,光缆400的两条光纤402a、402b表示为光学连接于光缆400的两条光纤。
下面参见图18和19,备选的连接模件224、226具有不同数量的竖直行的连接位置91。模件24、24a包括两个竖直的行。连接模件224包括一单行连接位置91,连接模件226包括三行。也可以是四行或更多行。
下面参见图13-17,模件24表示为在模件内于光缆300和连接位置91之间具有诸如接头和/或光耦合器之类的光学元件。在图13和14中,连接于一-二分光器351的一接头350使模件24具有与位置91相应的行操作和监控功能。连接位置91的行352可起到行操作功能,行354可起到监控功能。在图13中,每对连接位置91(每行中各有一个)将连接于光缆300的一条光纤。根据需要可以使用其它的分光器,诸如一-四分光器等。
在图15和16中,连接于一波分多路复用器(WDM)361的一接头360使模件24具有与连接位置91相应的波分多路复用功能。如果需要,可以使用一“密集”波分多路复用器(DWDM)。对于多路复用功能,连接位置91的行362可用作第一波长口,行364可用作不同的波长口。在图15中,每对连接位置91(每行各有一个)将连接于光缆300的一条光纤。
图17表示仅一个连接元件370,因而光缆300的每条光纤可连接于一通向一连接位置91的光纤。根据需要可选用其它的无源光学元件,以使模件24具有所需的功能。
下面参见图22和23,图中示出构成模件23的空白面板150、170。每块空白面板150、170包括一大致平坦的前部152以及诸凸缘154,凸缘具有孔158、160以使空白模件150、170能安装于框架22。空白模件150、170用来填补框架22的开放空间。空白模件170是单宽度,而空白模件150是双宽度。可以根据需要增加宽度。
在一用于一具体外线设备场合的系统的装配过程中,选择需要的功能(交叉连接、互连等)。同时选择模件23的类型(连接、储存、空白)和模件23的宽度。并且,选择连接的类型以及使用分光器还是光耦合器。选择合适的模件,然后将其安装于一封壳20内的框架22。随着时间的过去,可拆下模件23用于维修、更换或改换功能。而且,可以根据需要改变前部连接。

Claims (30)
1.一种光纤配线架装置,包括:
一框架件,它具有上部和下部模件安装架,上部模件安装架与下部模件安装架相隔开,该框架件限定一个内部;
安装于该框架件的多个光纤模件,每个模件包括一个前部和两个安装凸缘,每个安装凸缘可安装于上部和下部模件安装架中的一个;
模件中的一个限定一连接模件,并还包括一与前部相隔开的后部、一与凸缘相邻并相隔开的顶部和底部、以及相对并隔开的侧部,该连接模件构制和设置用于容纳多个沿前部具有暴露的开口的连接位置,该底部、后部和相对的侧部限定一光缆凹口区,该光缆凹口区限定一用于一第一光缆的开口;
一安装于连接模件的后部的光缆夹;
模件中的另一个限定一储存模件,该储存模件具有设置在前部上的第一和第二卷轴。

将选定的各模件安装于框架件的上部和下部安装位置,使各前部面对同一方向;并且
通过连接模件连接两根光缆。

19.一种连接模件,包括:
一壳体,它包括一前部和两个安装凸缘、壳体的与前部相隔开的一后部、与一底部相隔开的一顶部,顶部和底部相邻于安装凸缘而设置、以及相对并隔开的侧部;
多个沿前部具有暴露的开口的连接位置;
底部、后部和相对的侧部限定一光缆凹口区,该光缆凹口区限定一用于接纳一第一光缆的开口;以及
一从后部的光缆凹口区延伸出来的光缆夹。
20.如权利要求19所述的连接模件,其特征在于,诸连接位置包括多个构制和设置用于连接于一光纤连接器的适配器,这些适配器设置成一角度,该角度在壳体底部的方向上有一角度分量。

28.一种储存模件,包括:
一本体,它具有一前部、两个端部和两个延伸于两个端部之间的侧部;
