Description

Cervical vagus nerve stimulation device
Technical Field
The application relates to the technical field of nerve stimulation devices, in particular to a cervical vagus nerve stimulation device.
Background
The vagus nerve is one of important nerves in the human body, and has a vital regulatory effect on various physiological functions such as heart rate, digestion, inflammatory response and emotion regulation. In recent years, methods for treating conditions such as epilepsy, depression, anxiety, migraine, inflammatory disorders, and heart failure by electrically stimulating the vagus nerve have become an effective clinical treatment strategy. At present, the main vagal nerve stimulation technology in clinic is mainly an invasive scheme, namely, a pulse generator and an electrode are implanted into a patient through surgery, although the implantation mode has definite effect, the implantation mode has traumatism, can bring operation risks, pain and long recovery period to the patient, can leave permanent foreign matters in the body, has potential risks of infection, equipment failure or displacement and the like, and has high cost of the equipment and implantation operation, and brings heavy economic burden to the patient and a social medical security system.
To overcome the above drawbacks of invasive approaches, non-invasive vagal nerve stimulation techniques have been developed and are a hotspot of research. Non-invasive stimulation is mainly performed by means of percutaneous electrical stimulation, in which electrodes are placed at corresponding positions on the skin, and the underlying vagus nerve is stimulated indirectly. Existing non-invasive devices are often large, requiring the patient to be in a fixed sitting or lying position, which greatly limits the freedom of movement of the patient during treatment, resulting in poor treatment compliance, and difficulty in ensuring long-term, regular treatment. According to the cervical vagus nerve stimulation device provided by the application, the electric stimulation unit is skillfully integrated and firmly worn on the neck of a user by configuring the base member with specific structure and material characteristics, so that non-invasive, convenient and effective vagus nerve stimulation is realized. The following describes in detail specific embodiments.
Referring to fig. 1 to 3, the present application provides a cervical vagus nerve stimulation device including a base member and an electrical stimulation unit. The base member has an opening 107 and has a semi-surrounding structure, and is configured such that the opening 107 can be enlarged by elastic deformation so that the opening 107 can pass through the neck of a human body, and the opening 107 is contracted by its own elastic restoring force to be held in the neck of the human body. The electrical stimulation unit is disposed within the base member for generating electrical pulses, the electrical stimulation unit comprising at least one pair of electrodes 105. The at least one pair of electrodes 105 is disposed on an inner side surface of the base member, that is, a side surface close to the cervical skin, and is used for being stuck to the cervical skin by means of elastic restoring force of the base member when the base member is clamped on the cervical of the human body, so as to output electric pulses to act on the cervical vagus nerve.
The cervical vagus nerve stimulation device provided by the application can be clamped on the neck of a human body through the design of the elastic semi-surrounding annular base body part, so that the device is convenient to wear and stably clamped, the hands of a user are effectively liberated, continuous and stable contact between the electrode 105 and the skin is ensured, the device is stable and comfortable to wear, the electrode 105 is reliably contacted, the activity limit on the user is small, the device is convenient for daily use at home, and the reliability and consistency of the stimulation effect are ensured.
The base part is a supporting and fixing body of the whole device, which presents a semi-encircling annular structure with an opening 107 to be able to adapt well to the physiological contours of the human neck. In this embodiment, a key characteristic of the base member is that it has good elasticity, that is, the base member has elasticity so as to be able to expand the opening by elastic deformation and to contract the opening by elastic restoring force. Specifically, when the user uses the device, the base member can be elastically deformed by manually applying an external force, so that the size of the opening 107 can be temporarily enlarged. This design allows the opening 107 to pass smoothly through and around the neck. Once the external force is removed, the base member automatically returns to its original shape, i.e., the opening 107 is narrowed, by virtue of its own inherent elastic restoring force. The continuous elastic restoring force is converted into a soft and continuous clasping force to the neck, so that the neck-clamping type cervical vagus nerve stimulation device can be stably clamped on the neck. When a user normally rotates, lifts the head, and lowers the head in the wearing process, the neck-type cervical vagus nerve stimulation device can synchronously move along with the neck, and the relative position is not easy to change or fall off due to the general movement of the head and the neck. The clamping mode fundamentally realizes the liberation of the hands of the user and ensures the stability of the position of the device in the treatment process.
Referring to fig. 3, in the present embodiment, the base member is mainly composed of an elastic outer shell 101 and an inner shell 103 disposed inside thereof. The elastic housing 101 serves as the main structural load bearing member and elastic element, the shape and material of which are critical to ensure the stability of the catch. In this embodiment, the elastic casing 101 has a semi-encircling shape, i.e. it is a substantially C-shaped or U-shaped arc beam structure, and when force is applied from two sides of the opening 107 to try to enlarge the opening 107, the whole arc beam structure will bend and deform, and the bending design of the long arm makes it possible for a user to generate a sufficiently large opening displacement with a small breaking force, so that the elastic casing is convenient to wear. In terms of materials, the elastic shell 101 may be made of a metal sheet with certain strength and elasticity, such as a memory alloy, for example, nickel-titanium alloy, stainless steel sheet, or the like, or may be made of a high-performance engineering plastic sheet, such as polyamide, polycarbonate, or a composite material thereof, through an injection molding process. The metal sheet can provide excellent elastic restoring force and durability, while the plastic sheet has advantages in terms of weight, cost, and molding flexibility. The elastic casing 101 may be a single integral piece, as shown in fig. 3, and in other embodiments, the elastic casing 101 may be a separate piece formed by splicing multiple segmented pieces, that is, it may be a combination of multiple pieces. When a plurality of parts are combined, the connection manner and the overall structural design between the parts still need to ensure that the combined elastic shell 101 has overall elasticity meeting the use requirement, for example, in some embodiments, the elastic shell 101 is formed by splicing multiple sections, wherein each section is not deformed, and the connection position between the sections is provided with a movable connection structure and an elastic part, so that the elastic shell 101 is in a deformable semi-annular structure as a whole.
In this embodiment, the inner shell 103 is connected to the elastic outer shell 101 and is disposed inside the elastic outer shell 101, and mainly functions to contact with the skin of a user, improve wearing comfort, and assist in fixing internal components. The inner side of the elastic shell 101 faces the side of the neck skin, i.e. in use. The inner shell 103 can be connected and fixed by a conventional mechanical connection manner such as a buckle, a screw and the like, and an installation space is formed between the inner shell and the screw for installing the electric stimulation unit. The inner shell 103 has the ability to elastically deform following the elastic outer shell 101. The inner shell 103 may be an integral piece, or may be a split piece formed by splicing a plurality of segment pieces. The inner housing 103 as shown in fig. 3 is a single piece, and in other embodiments, the inner housing 103 may be a split piece formed by splicing multiple pieces, i.e., it may be a combination of multiple pieces. When a plurality of parts are used for combination, the connection mode and the overall structural design between the parts still need to ensure that the combined inner shell 103 has overall elasticity meeting the use requirement, for example, in some embodiments, the inner shell 103 is formed by splicing multiple sections, wherein each section is not deformed, and the connection position between the sections is provided with a movable connection structure and an elastic component, so that the inner shell 103 is in a deformable semi-annular structure as a whole. In some embodiments, the inner shell 103 may be a unitary flexible body, such as a soft material of silicone, thermoplastic polyurethane, or the like, and in other embodiments, the inner shell 103 itself may be a semi-rigid structure, such as a plastic piece, but with a separate flexible liner layer on the skin-contacting surface. The material of the integral flexible body or the additional flexible lining layer can comprise one or a combination of more of silica gel, soft filling cotton and comfortable flexible braided fabric with good biocompatibility. The inner shell 103 is provided with a flexible body or a flexible liner layer, so that the holding force transmitted by the elastic outer shell 101 can be more gently and uniformly distributed on the skin to avoid discomfort caused by overlarge local pressure, and on the other hand, the soft contact surface can also increase the friction force with the skin to further prevent the device from sliding, and meanwhile, the skin-friendly feeling is improved, so that the device is suitable for being worn for a long time.
Further, the inner housing 103 is provided with two protrusions 1031 near the opening of the base member. The two protrusions 1031 are arranged symmetrically left and right, and they bulge inward, i.e., in a direction toward the skin. The two protrusions 1031 are specifically designed to be positioned to correspond to and conform to the target stimulation areas on the left and right sides of the neck, respectively, when the device is worn. The configuration of the protrusions 1031 such that the contact pressure of the site with the skin is greater than the flat portion of the inner shell helps to ensure that the functional elements thereon, such as the electrodes 105 provided on the protrusions 1031, remain in continuous, intimate contact with the skin, reducing poor contact due to skin wrinkles, perspiration or slight movement, thereby providing a basic guarantee for effective electrical stimulation.
In this embodiment, the protruding portion 1031 is designed to have elasticity itself, so as to improve the adaptability and comfort of wearing. This flexibility can be achieved in a number of ways, for example, by integrally forming the entire boss 1031 from the same or a softer elastomeric material as the main body portion of the inner shell 103, or by designing the boss 1031 with a hollow cavity or by using a low density elastomeric filler that allows it to deform adaptively when subjected to pressure. The resilient protrusions 1031 can adapt to the neck size, shape and soft tissue thickness differences of different users, and conform to individual unique neck contours by compressive deformation of themselves, thereby expanding the applicable population range of the device. In addition, the elastic material can effectively buffer the local pressure of the electrode to the skin, disperse the pressure, remarkably improve the comfort of wearing for a long time and avoid generating indentation or discomfort.
The electro-stimulation unit is a collection of components for generating stimulation pulses, which are housed and protected inside a base component. The electro-stimulation unit mainly comprises a circuit board 106 for generating electrical pulses, a battery 104 for supplying power and electrodes 105 for delivering the electrical pulses to the human body. The circuit board 106 is provided with a pulse generating circuit, which is generally composed of a microcontroller, a waveform generating chip, a power amplifying circuit and other necessary passive components, and can generate an electric pulse signal with adjustable amplitude, frequency, pulse width and other parameters, and the parameters can be set or selected by doctors or users according to different treatment requirements. As shown in fig. 1 and fig. 3, the elastic outer casing 101 or the inner casing 103 of the base member is provided with a control key 1061 for triggering the circuit board 106 to execute a set function, the control key 1061 includes one or more of an on key, an off key, and a stimulus intensity adjusting key, and the control key 1061 is in the form of one or more of a touch type, and a dial type. The control keys are used for controlling basic functions of the device, such as starting up, shutting down, adjusting the intensity of electric stimulation, and the like. The specific form of the control key can be diversified to adapt to the light and thin requirements of the patch type device. For example, a touch key can be used, a user can control by touching a specific area without physical travel, which is beneficial to keeping the surface of the device flat, and a miniaturized physical key such as a touch switch or a dial switch can be used. The control keys are correspondingly provided with key marks on the elastic shell 101, so that a user can flexibly control the control keys according to own feeling and requirements when using the control keys.
The battery 104 is the source of energy for the device and may be of the type that is a rechargeable battery, such as a lithium polymer battery, or a rechargeable capacitor or a removable and replaceable disposable battery. In order to facilitate the repeated use, the base member is preferably in a chargeable form, and correspondingly, the elastic outer shell 101 or the inner shell 103 of the base member is provided with a chargeable interface, the circuit board 106 is electrically connected with the chargeable interface, or the circuit board 106 is provided with a wireless charging coil. The wireless charging coil can realize non-contact charging, so that the tightness and the use convenience of the device are further improved, and the chargeable interface is used for charging through a charging wire, and can be a magnetic adsorption interface, a Micro-USB interface, a Type-C interface or the like.
Referring to fig. 3, the circuit board 106 and the battery 104 are mounted in a mounting space formed between the elastic outer case 101 and the inner case 103. The circuit board 106 and the battery 104 act as the main weights inside the device, and their layout positions have a significant impact on wearing comfort. In a preferred embodiment, the circuit board 106 and the battery 104 are separately disposed at both ends of the base member near the opening 107 to disperse gravity, and the circuit board 106 and the battery 104 are electrically connected by the lead 102 disposed in the installation space. The circuit board 106 and the battery 104 are arranged at the two ends of the base part close to the opening 107, and the distribution mode is beneficial to distributing the weight of the device on the two sides of the neck more uniformly, so that unbalanced feeling and fatigue feeling caused by the fact that the weight is too concentrated on one side or the rear of the neck are avoided, and the comfort of wearing for a long time is remarkably improved. For electrical connection, the circuit board 106 and the battery 104 are connected by the lead 102 provided in the internal space of the base member.
The electrode 105 is the part of the electro-stimulation unit that is in direct contact with the human body, and in some embodiments is made of a biocompatible conductive material such as medical stainless steel, silver/silver chloride, conductive silicone, etc. The number and placement of the electrodes 105 is directly related to the targeting and effect of the stimulation, in embodiments of the application the electrodes 105 are provided on the inside surface of the base member, which is exposed to the inside surface of the inner housing 103, to ensure that the device is able to penetrate through openings in the inner housing 103 or be in direct contact with the skin when worn. In one embodiment, the electrodes 105 are a pair disposed on the inner side of the base member and near one end of the opening 107 to correspond to the vagal location on the left anterior side of the neck or the right anterior side of the neck, and the pair of electrodes 105 are centrally disposed on the inner side of the base member near one end of the opening 107, such as the vagal body surface projection location corresponding to the left anterior side or the right anterior side of the neck, for unilateral vagal stimulation. This single-sided stimulation scheme is adequate for certain specific conditions and helps simplify the device structure and control logic. In another embodiment, the electrodes 105 are arranged in two pairs on the inner side of the base member and near the two ends of the opening 107 to correspond to the left and right anterior cervical vagal locations, respectively, and the two pairs of electrodes 105 are arranged on the inner side of the base member near the two ends of the opening 107 to correspond to the left and right anterior cervical vagal locations, respectively. This bilateral electrode design allows the device to stimulate the bilateral vagus nerve simultaneously or alternately, which may result in a more balanced or effective therapeutic effect, particularly for diseases requiring bilateral intervention. The electrode 105 can always maintain a stable and proper contact pressure with the neck skin by virtue of the elastic restoring force of the base member, whether a one-sided or a two-sided design is adopted. The stable contact ensures that the electric pulse can be efficiently conducted to subcutaneous tissue with lower impedance and acts on the target vagus nerve, so that stimulation interruption, energy loss or skin burning sensation caused by poor contact is avoided, and the reliability and consistency of the treatment effect are ensured.
Referring to fig. 3 again, a specific assembly process and a using process of the neck-type cervical vagus nerve stimulation device provided by the present application are as follows. First, the electrode 105 is mounted to a predetermined position of the inner case 103 and the electrical connection terminal thereof is secured reliably. Next, the circuit board 106 and the battery 104 are placed and fixed, respectively, in the mounting positions reserved for the inner case 103. The wires 102 are then used to connect the battery 104 to the power input of the circuit board 106 in the correct polarity, while the other set of wires 102 is used to connect the electrodes 105 to the pulse output of the circuit board 106. All wires should be firmly connected and protected by insulation as necessary. Thereafter, the inner case 103, to which the internal components have been mounted, is aligned and assembled with the elastic outer case 101. The assembly mode can be snap fit, screw fastening or ultrasonic welding, etc., so as to ensure that the two are combined to form a complete and stable base component whole with well-protected internal elements. The final assembled device has an initial size of the opening 107 smaller than the diameter of the neck of the user, but can be easily broken off and put on the neck by the elasticity of the elastic housing 101. After wearing, the device will be comfortably and firmly clamped in the neck, with the electrodes 105 held in good contact with the skin under elastic force and facing forward on both sides of the neck, at the cervical vagus nerve. The user can start the treatment by operating the control 1061 and selecting the appropriate stimulation intensity.
