Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to the technical field of pest control, in particular to a device for separating ants by an optimized water drop method.
Background
Solenopsis invicta (Solenopsis invictaBuren) is one of the 100 most serious foreign invasive species in the world, invades more than twenty countries and regions including the united states, china, australia and caribbean regions, and has serious harm to the public safety of the invaded regions, agriculture and forestry production, ecological environment and the like. For example, skin itch, red swelling, pustules and other reactions occur after humans are bitten by solenopsis invicta, and anaphylactic shock and even death can be caused in severe cases; the solenopsis invicta in the farmland can damage the root systems and seeds of crops, and reduce the yield and the activity of the seeds of crops; the variety and number of native ants and other arthropods in the ecological environment can drop significantly after invasion of solenopsis invicta. Currently, in China, according to statistics of agricultural rural areas, by 2023, red fire ants are spread to 625 counties (city and district) of 12 provinces by 06 months. In view of its serious hazard and broad distribution, control of solenopsis invicta is of paramount importance. Meanwhile, the students in the related fields have conducted a great deal of research about their biology and control methods to explore and optimize the practical and effective control methods.
In experimental studies of solenopsis invicta, researchers are often required to collect large numbers of mature complete solenopsis invicta nest cavities from the field for experimentation. However, many experiments require the use of specific species of solenopsis invicta (e.g., workers, larvae, post-termite, etc.), where the solenopsis invicta is separated from the soil to obtain experimental samples. Currently, the most commonly used method for separating solenopsis invicta is the water drop method. Specifically, first, tap water is slowly dropped into a container containing the nest of the solenopsis invicta; then, as the water level in the container rises continuously, the adult in the ant colony will gradually transfer eggs, pupae and the like in the deep soil region to the surface soil region of the nest; when the water surface completely goes through the soil, all the individuals of the ant colony gather together and float on the water surface. At this point, the researcher can use a long-handled strainer or put on a protective glove to drag out the strainer from the water surface and transfer the strainer to a new feeding container. Finally, researchers can accurately select the required type of solenopsis invicta from the colony without soil for subsequent experiments. However, the operator still has to face problems in this process, such as: (1) Transferring the container with the solenopsis invicta nest under the water tap, wherein the heights of the container and the water tap cannot be adjusted, and the water drops splashed on the container wall can damage the coating for preventing the solenopsis invicta from escaping; (2) The water flow speed and the water quantity need to be monitored by operators in real time, so that abnormal conditions such as unstable water flow or the escape of solenopsis invicta are prevented; (3) According to Chen,J.and Wei,X.(2005)An improved method for fast and efficient fire ant colony separation.Proceedings ofAnnual Red Imported Fire Ant Conference.Gulfport,Mississippi,March 22-24,2005,pp.173-175.'s study, it is preferable to separate solenopsis invicta when the water flow is 300 drops per minute, but it is not easy to adjust the faucet to precisely control the water flow rate; (4) One tap can only separate one solenopsis invicta nest at the same time, and the separation efficiency is low.
Therefore, the research on a device for separating ants by an optimized water drop method, which can effectively control the flow rate and the dosage of water and has high separation efficiency, is a problem to be solved by the technicians in the field.
