Description

Fume exhaust fan
Technical Field
The invention relates to a range hood, in particular to a range hood with a movable cover plate.
Background
In smoke hoods, it is known to cover the suction opening of the smoke hood with a cover plate, at least when the smoke hood is not in use. When the range hood is in operation or after it has been operated, the cover plate must then be moved with respect to the suction opening in such a way that a suction of the fumes and smoke that occur on the hob mounted below the range hood is ensured. For this purpose, the cover plate can be pushed, for example, with respect to the suction opening of the range hood.
Since the cover plate is partially made of a material having a large weight at the hood, a significant force is required to move the cover plate. In order to be able to apply such forces, the actuating units for moving the cover plate are therefore generally designed to be large and therefore require significant installation space. However, since the range hood is generally designed smaller, in particular because of the visual appearance, the installation space given in the range hood is small.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is therefore to find a solution with which, on the one hand, a reliable movement of the cover plate of the range hood can be achieved and, on the other hand, the installation space required for this in the range hood is minimized.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a range hood having the features of claim 1. Embodiments of the range hood are specified in the dependent claims.
The invention thus relates to a range hood having: a smoke exhaust ventilator housing; a cover plate which is supported on the range hood housing in a displaceable manner and is used for covering a suction opening of the range hood; and an actuating mechanism for moving the cover plate. The range hood is characterized in that the range hood has a connection device for connecting the cover plate to the range hood housing, the connection device comprising a fastening device fastened to the range hood housing, the cover plate being mounted displaceably on the fastening device, and the actuating device comprising at least one thread-pitch cable which extends between the cover plate and the fastening device for displacing the cover plate relative to the fastening device.
According to the invention, the range hood for a kitchen is referred to as a range hood, by means of which the range hood can suck in soot and fumes from a hob mounted below the range hood and, if necessary, from a working surface in the kitchen.
The range hood has a suction opening through which sucked air, in particular soot and fumes, can be sucked into the interior of the range hood. The suction inlet can be arranged in the underside of the range hood or in the front side of the range hood. Furthermore, at least one additional suction opening can be provided at the range hood, which is separate from the suction opening and generally has a small size. In this case, this suction opening can also be referred to as the main suction opening.
In addition, the range hood has a cover plate for covering a suction opening, which can also be referred to as a suction inlet. The cover plate covers the suction opening only temporarily. In particular, in a state of the range hood in which the range hood is not operated, the suction opening can be covered by the cover plate. In the open state of the cover plate, the cover plate can completely or partially release the suction opening. If an additional suction opening is provided at the range hood, it is preferable if the main suction opening is only covered at least temporarily by the cover plate.
The suction opening is disposed in a range hood housing of the range hood. In particular, the part of the range hood in which the ventilation device is received is called the hood housing, through which air is sucked in. The hood housing typically has a box shape or channel shape. A filter element, also called a grease filter, can be arranged in the suction opening. Furthermore, an odor filter, which is also referred to as an activated carbon filter, can be provided.
According to the invention, the cover plate is mounted on the hood housing in a displaceable manner. In the closed state, the cover plate preferably covers the entire suction opening of the range hood. If at least one additional suction opening is provided at the range hood, it is preferred that only the entire main suction opening is covered by the cover plate. In the open state of the cover plate, the path for air directed towards the suction opening, in particular towards the main suction opening, is at least partially released.
The range hood further has an actuating mechanism for moving the cover plate. The actuating mechanism is preferably a motor-type mechanism. The actuating mechanism therefore preferably comprises a drive unit, in particular a motor-type drive unit, by means of which at least one pitch cable can be driven, that is to say pushed. The drive unit generates a rotary motion, which is converted into a translational motion by a pitch cable. The connection from the pitch cable to the drive unit can be realized, for example, by a pinion (Ritzel) which engages in a spiral of the pitch cable.
According to the invention, the range hood comprises connecting means for connecting the cover plate to the hood housing. The means arranged between the cover plate and the hood housing for holding the cover plate at the hood housing and moving the cover plate is referred to as a connecting device. The connecting means here comprise fastening means. The part of the connecting means by which the connecting means is fastened at the hood housing is called the fastening means. The fastening can be, for example, a rigid fastening by pushing in, hooking in or snapping in. Alternatively, however, the fastening can also be an articulated connection, for example by means of a hinge.
The cover plate is mounted on the fastening device in a displaceable manner, i.e. the cover plate can be displaced relative to the fastening device. Depending on the orientation of the suction opening and thus of the cover plate, the cover plate can be displaced upwards and downwards or forwards and backwards.
Unless otherwise indicated, the directions above, below, front and rear are as described above with respect to the case of the range hood in the assembled state. The user facing side is referred to as the front side of the range hood and its components. Typically the front side faces away from the mounting wall to which the range hood is secured. The rear side of the range hood and in particular the rear side of the hood housing is usually fastened at the mounting wall.
According to the invention, the actuating mechanism comprises at least one pitch cable. The cable having a core and a helix surrounding the core is referred to as a pitch cable. The core is preferably composed of ropes, in particular strands. The spiral can consist of a wire, in particular a spring wire. The pitch cable is used to transform rotational motion into translational motion. The pitch cable can transmit tensile or compressive forces. According to one embodiment, the pitch cable has a tensile strength of at least 2,200N. The diameter of the core can for example lie between 2 mm and 8 mm. The diameter of the spiral material can be, for example, in the range of 1 mm to 2 mm and the spiral pitch in the range between 2 mm and 3 mm. Based on the structure of the pitch cable consisting of the core and the helix, the pitch cable is flexible (flexibel) and can also be referred to as a flexible rack.
The pitch cable is used to relatively push the cover plate with respect to the fastening means. For this purpose, at least one pitch cable extends between the cover plate and the fastening means. This means that one end of the pitch cable can be fastened to the cover plate and the other end can be connected to a fastening device, in particular a drive unit provided there. Alternatively, however, one end of the pitch cable can also be fastened to the fastening device and the other end can be connected to the cover plate, in particular to a drive unit provided there. Fastening of the end of the pitch cable or the drive unit at the cover plate can be effected directly at the cover plate. It is also within the scope of the invention that the fastening is achieved by one or more intermediate elements, such as a base sheet and/or a clamping protection element.
According to the invention, the cover plate is connected to the hood housing by means of a connecting device, which has a fastening device fastened to the hood housing, at which the cover plate is mounted in a displaceable manner, and the actuating device comprises at least one thread-guiding cable which extends between the cover plate and the fastening device for the purpose of displacing the cover plate relative to the fastening device, whereby a number of advantages can be achieved.
In particular, the cover plate can be pushed in a simple manner in such a way that it optionally releases or closes the suction opening. Furthermore, the position requirement is reduced by using at least one pitch cable and a drive unit connected thereto. Furthermore, the cover plate can also be manufactured from heavy materials, such as, for example, glass, since the pitch cable can transmit large forces. In addition, the noise generation during the displacement of the cover plate can also be reduced by using a screw cable and a corresponding motor-type drive unit. Finally, the use of a pitch cable allows a flexible arrangement of the drive unit for the pitch cable at the cover plate, since the pitch cable can also reliably transmit forces in a curved shape.
The relative displacement of the cover plate with respect to the fastening device is preferably a parallel displacement. The cover plate can thereby also be displaced parallel to the suction opening, or the cover plate pivotably fastened to the hood housing can be displaced parallel to a fastening device which is pivoted relative to the hood housing. It is therefore also within the scope of the invention that the cover plate can be displaced parallel to the fastening device and that the cover plate is displaced here at an angle relative to the suction opening. This can be the case, for example, where: the cover plate is fastened to the hood housing by means of a hinge, and the position of the cover plate is displaced relative to the fastening device in the open position of the cover plate.
According to one embodiment, at least one pitch cable runs parallel to the inner side of the cover plate. The side facing the suction opening is called the inner side of the cover plate.
According to a preferred embodiment, the connecting device has a base plate. The base sheet is preferably fastened to the inner side of the cover plate and is connected to the fastening device in a displaceable manner. By providing a basic plate, on the one hand a connection, in particular a displaceable connection, between the cover plate and the fastening device and, on the other hand, a simple fastening of one or more pitch cables can be ensured. The base sheet material preferably has a contour necessary for both functions. In particular, a rail can be formed on the base sheet, which rail can interact with the guide and thus can allow the base sheet and thus the cover plate to be displaced with respect to the fastening device. On the other hand, in the basic sheet material, the receiving region can be formed, for example, by a projecting web, to which the end of the pitch cable can be fastened, or, for example, a clamping protection element can be fastened to which the end of the pitch cable is connected.
According to one embodiment, the fastening device has at least one carrier member. The component at which the fastening element for fastening at the hood housing and at least a part of the guide for displacement are formed or fastened is referred to as a carrier component, hereinafter also referred to as a carrier part. The carrier element can be a sheet metal element or a plastic element, which has a contour which is preferably configured according to the desired function. For example, the carrier member can be made from a strip of material having strips and/or tracks formed or fastened thereto.
According to another embodiment, the fastening means comprises a hinge. The hinge can be used to hingedly connect the fastening means with the hood housing. Alternatively, the fastening device can also comprise a hinge follower. Here, the component at which the part of the hinge arranged at the fastening device is fastened is referred to as a hinge follower. The hinge follower can be embodied, for example, as a strip which extends from the carrier part in the direction of the edge of the cover plate and parallel thereto.
According to one embodiment, at least one pitch cable is connected with an end to the cover plate and with an opposite end region to a drive unit fastened to the fastening device. The drive unit can be fastened in particular to the carrier member of the fastening device. The end of the pitch cable connected to the cover plate can be fastened directly at the cover plate. Alternatively, however, this end of the pitch cable can also be connected indirectly to the cover plate. In this case, this end of the pitch cable can be fastened to the base plate, which is fastened to the inner side of the cover plate at the cover plate. This embodiment is advantageous in that, in particular in the case of a guide of the pitch cable parallel to the cover plate, a projection, for example a web, can be formed on the base plate, on which projection the pitch cable is vertically situated and thus forces can be applied to the cover plate parallel to the face of the cover plate in a simple manner.
The end region of the pitch cable opposite the end of the pitch cable which is not fastened to the cover plate is preferably connected to the drive unit. The drive unit is fastened here to the fastening device, in particular to the carrier member of the fastening device. Preferably the drive unit extends from the cover plate towards the hood housing.
According to a preferred embodiment, the connecting device has a guide for guiding the cover plate at the fastening device. The guide can be, for example, a guide realized by means of a rail. As an additional option, a slide and/or a ball can be provided in the guide.
According to one embodiment, a part of the guide is formed by at least a part of the edge region of the base sheet. In this embodiment, the base sheet preferably has a crimp at two opposite edges, which crimp extends away from the cover plate. The crimp can have an L-shape, but can also be formed by a curved strip of material. The edges can engage with corresponding contours on the fastening means, for example on the carrier part or the hinge follower, and thus allow a displacement. Furthermore, a slide can be received in the guide, for example, so that the displacement of the base sheet material with respect to the fastening device is simplified.
According to one embodiment, at least one pitch cable is at least partially received in the guide tube. The longitudinal rigidity of the pitch cable can thereby be supported and, if necessary, the pitch cable can be held in a curved shape.
According to a preferred embodiment, the actuating mechanism comprises at least two screw threads, which are connected to a common drive unit. Preferably the steering mechanism comprises exactly two pitch cables. In such an embodiment, each of the pitch cables can be joined to the cover plate at or adjacent to a lateral edge of the cover plate, or at or adjacent to a lateral edge of the base plate. By symmetrically engaging the pitch cable at the cover plate, warping of the cover plate can be prevented when pushing. The pitch cable is furthermore connected to a common drive unit, so that a uniform displacement can be ensured.
According to one embodiment, a clamping protection is arranged between the cover plate and the pitch cable. Thereby, gripping of the user's finger or object can be prevented. The clamping protection can be achieved by a spring or other elastic element.
According to one embodiment, the cover plate is arranged at the front side of the hood housing. The suction opening is also arranged in this embodiment at the front side of the hood housing. In such an embodiment, the suction opening can optionally be in the vertical or be inclined forward relative to the vertical. In the latter case, the range hood can also be referred to as a tilt chimney. For these embodiments, the connection device is preferably oriented in such a way that the cover plate can be pushed upward or downward by the connection device at the hood housing. The suction opening or at least the lower part of the suction opening is preferably released by pushing the cover plate upwards. This arrangement and displacement of the cover plate can be achieved with the connecting device used according to the invention, since a large force can be applied by one or more pitch cables, which force also allows lifting, that is to say upward displacement, of the cover plate made of heavy material. The cover plate can also be lowered, that is to say pushed down, because the pitch cable has a high tensile strength and can therefore also be subjected to large tensile forces.
According to another embodiment, the cover plate is arranged at the underside of the hood housing. In this embodiment, the suction opening is provided in the underside of the range hood. In this embodiment, the connection device is preferably oriented such that the cover plate can be pushed forward and backward, i.e. moved out and into, on the hood housing. The suction opening or at least a part of the suction opening is preferably released by pushing the cover plate forward.
The cover plate of the range hood can consist of glass, stainless steel, aluminum or plastic, for example. The advantages of the invention can be particularly exploited for each of these materials. For example, by using a screw thread cable, a reliable displacement of the cover plate can be ensured even in the case of heavy materials, i.e. glass. The tightening of the pitch cable is simplified in relation to other materials.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of an embodiment of a range hood 13 according to the invention. The hood 13 in the embodiment shown consists of a hood housing 12 and a cover plate 11. In the embodiment shown, the suction opening 14 covered by the cover plate 11 is located at the front side of the hood housing 12 and is inclined forward from the vertical. A ventilation device (not shown) is arranged in the interior of the hood housing 12, through which air is sucked into the interior of the hood housing 12 via the suction opening 14.
Fig. 1 shows the range hood 13 in a state in which the cover plate 11 covers the suction opening 14. Fig. 2 shows the range hood 13 according to fig. 1 in a state in which the cover plate 11 has been moved out upward and thus the suction opening 14 is released. The suction opening 14 can extend over the entire front side of the hood housing 12. In this case, in the state according to fig. 2, the only lower region of the suction opening 14 is released by the cover plate 11. However, the suction opening 14 can also be formed only in the region below the front side of the hood housing 12. In this case, the cover releases the entire suction opening 14 in the position according to fig. 2. In the embodiment shown in fig. 1 and 2, an additional suction opening (not shown) can be provided in the underside of the hood housing 12.
Fig. 3 shows a schematic perspective rear view of the cover plate 11 with the connecting device. The view of the cover plate 11 facing inward, that is to say on the side of the cover plate 11 which faces the hood housing 12 in the assembled state of the cover plate 11 at the hood housing 12, is referred to as the rear view.
As can be seen from fig. 3, the connecting device in the illustrated embodiment comprises a fastening device, which consists of the carrier member 2 together with the hinge follower 3 arranged there and the hinge 4 at the hinge follower 3. The hinge 4 is located at the upper end of the hinge follower 3.
Furthermore, the connection device comprises a basic plate 10 which is fastened, for example glued, at the inner side of the cover plate 11. Furthermore, the connecting device has a guide 1 which extends parallel to the hinge follower 3 and in particular extends at the edge of the base sheet 10. The guide 1 is formed here by a part of the edge of the base sheet 10, a rail formed at the edge of the hinge follower 3, and a slide on each side. In the embodiment shown, an actuating mechanism is also shown, which comprises a motor-type drive unit 5 and two pitch cables 8. The pitch cable 8 extends from the drive unit 5 fastened at the carrier member 2 to the side along a horizontal line and then bends downwards along the hinge follower 3. The horizontal and turning areas of the pitch cable 8 are received in the guide tube 6, respectively. The lower end of the pitch cable 8 is fastened at the basic plate 10 in the embodiment shown by clamping a protective element 9.
In fig. 5 and 6 it is shown how the cover plate 11 is moved in relation to the fastening device by the pitch cable 8 when the drive unit 5 is actuated. In fig. 5, the positions corresponding to the states shown in fig. 1 are shown, for example. In this position, the base sheet 10 and the cover 11 are moved downward relative to the position shown in fig. 6, for example, corresponding to the state shown in fig. 2. This can be seen, for example, by the downward extension of the pitch cable 8 beyond the length of the guide tube 6. The position of the carrier member 2 and the part of the guide that is formed at the carrier member 2 are in both states in fig. 5 and 6. In fig. 6, the cover plate 11 and the base plate 10 are thus displaced upward relative to the fastening device and thus also relative to the hood housing 12, as a result of which the suction opening 14 is released.
Another embodiment of the connection device is shown in fig. 4. This embodiment differs from the embodiment shown in fig. 3, 5 and 6 only in the shape of the base plate 10 and the hinge follower 3. Furthermore, the slider 7 used in the guide 1 can be better seen in fig. 4 from an exploded view. The basic plate 10 according to the embodiment of fig. 4 forms a U-shaped surface. At the lateral edges of the base sheet 10, as in the first embodiment also, the edges are bent and thus spaced apart from the inner side of the cover plate 11. The carrier member 2 also has a strip shape in the second embodiment, in which the carrier member extends upwards, downwards and backwards (that is to say away from the cover plate). In the second embodiment, upwardly projecting hinge followers 3 are formed at the upper edge of the strip-shaped carrier member 2 at a distance from its lateral ends. Furthermore, the parts of the hinge follower 3 are then formed at the lateral ends and protrude downward. These downwardly projecting webs together with the bent edges of the base sheet and the slide form a lateral guide 1. The actuating mechanism consisting of the drive unit 5 and the pitch cable 8 guided in part in the guide tube 6 corresponds to the actuating mechanism according to the first embodiment of fig. 3.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown. For example, the embodiment of the connecting device shown in fig. 3 can also be implemented rotated 180 °. In this case, the fastening means are preferably fastened not by a hinge but by a rigid fastening element at the hood housing. When the drive unit is actuated, the screw thread cable is pulled out upwards and the base plate connected thereto and the cover plate connected thereto are then pressed upwards. In this further embodiment of the connection device, the condition shown in fig. 2 will thus be obtained and the suction opening will be at least partially released. The suction opening is covered by the cover plate by the insertion of the screw thread cable.
The structure of the range hood 13 and the functional mode of the embodiment of the operating mechanism composed of the drive unit 5 and the pitch cable 8 can be explained as follows.
The guide 1 consists of a hinge follower 3 and a base plate 10, which is fastened in design (flap). The guide 1 can consist of a slide 7, of a ball guide or the like. The hinge follower 3 can be connected by means of the carrier member 2. A hinge 4 can be fastened or integrated at the hinge follower 3. The motor-driven drive unit 5, which can be fastened to the carrier part 2, has a guide tube 6 which can be geometrically adapted to the insertion position, wherein the screw thread cable 8 converts a rotary motion into a translational motion. The pitch cable 8 is fastened to the base plate 10 by means of a clamping protection 9.
Depending on the arrangement of the mechanism, the cover plate is moved upwards or downwards or alternatively forwards or backwards by operating the drive unit 5. The damping system can also be integrated or fastened.
The present invention has a number of advantages.
On the one hand, the cover covers the suction opening in the closed state and releases the suction opening when the cover is opened. The actuating mechanism of the range hood is a space-saving mechanism, which can be integrated into the range hood in a simple manner. Furthermore, the design of the cover plate is flexible. On the one hand, larger-sized cover plates can be used, and on the other hand, the material of the cover plates can be freely selected and is, for example, glass, aluminum, stainless steel or plastic. In addition, the motor-driven drive by means of a pitch cable is generally quieter than known screw drives or the like, so that noise generation can be reduced when the cover plate is pushed. In addition, a design of the range hood with less gaps can be realized. Finally, the clamping protection for fingers and objects can be integrated in the handling mechanism.
