Vehicle seat subassembly and vehicle
Technical Field
The present invention relates to automotive safety systems, and more particularly to a vehicle seat assembly, and a vehicle including the vehicle seat assembly.
Background
Autonomous vehicles are receiving increased attention. As the sophistication and sophistication of autonomous vehicles increases, the amount of passenger interaction required for an autonomous vehicle decreases. Finally, an autonomous automobile will likely not require passengers to interact with it, except for certain specific actions (e.g., selecting a destination). In this case, the passenger may divert his attention to a task unrelated to driving. In one scenario, a front passenger may choose to have face-to-face communication with a rear passenger; it may also be chosen to coincide with the orientation of the passenger in the vehicle seat in a conventional vehicle, in order to take care of the scenery and road conditions in front of the vehicle. Accordingly, the vehicle seat in which the front passenger is located may be designed such that the seat back of the vehicle seat is movable relative to the seat base of the vehicle seat so as to be located on the front side and the rear side of the vehicle seat in the front-rear direction of the vehicle, so that the passenger can select to sit on the vehicle facing forward of the vehicle or to sit on the vehicle facing rearward of the vehicle. However, the airbag of the related art, which is installed in a vehicle seat to provide side protection for an occupant, is not suitable for application in the vehicle seat described above because the airbag is designed only for a vehicle seat toward the front of the vehicle and does not consider providing protection for an occupant seated in a vehicle seat toward the rear of the vehicle.
Therefore, there is a need for a vehicle seat that can provide protection for an occupant in both situations where the occupant is seated toward the front of the vehicle and where the occupant is seated toward the rear of the vehicle.

As shown in fig. 1(a) and 1(b), the vehicle seat assembly includes a vehicle seat 11 and a side airbag device 12 (shown in fig. 2) disposed on the vehicle seat 11 (for example, disposed on a side frame of a seat back frame of the vehicle seat 11), and the vehicle seat 11 includes a seat back 111 and a seat base 112, the seat back 111 being connected to the seat base 112 in such a manner as to be movable in a front-rear direction of the vehicle relative to the seat base 112, so that the vehicle seat 11 can face forward or rearward of the vehicle. In the embodiment according to the invention, the relative movement between the seat base 112 and the seat back 111 is realized by a pivot arm 113, and correspondingly the seat back 111 comprises a pivot arm 113, which pivot arm 113 is connected to the seat base 113 in a pivotable manner about a pivot axis parallel to the floor of the vehicle. Optionally, the vehicle seat assembly 11 may also include a locking device for locking the position of the seat back 111 relative to the seat base 112 to prevent the seat back 111 from undesirably moving away from a desired position relative to the seat base 112; the locking device may be, for example, a device such as a motor that performs an automatic locking operation, but the vehicle seat assembly according to the present invention is not limited thereto, and the locking device may also be manually locked, or may not include a locking device in some application scenarios.
In the situation shown in fig. 1(a) and 1(b), the vehicle seat assembly 11 is shown in a first state, and in the situation shown in fig. 2, the vehicle seat assembly 11 is shown in a second state. Herein, the vehicle seat assembly 11 being in the first state refers to a state in which the side airbag in the vehicle seat assembly 11 is not inflated and deployed, and the vehicle seat assembly 11 being in the second state refers to a state in which the side airbag in the vehicle seat assembly 11 is inflated and deployed, and therefore, fig. 1(a) and 1(b) mainly show the vehicle seat 11 in the vehicle seat assembly according to the embodiment of the invention, while the side airbag is housed in the vehicle seat 11 without being seen. A side airbag device in a vehicle seat assembly according to an embodiment of the invention is described with reference to fig. 2.

It is to be noted that, although a schematic view in which the first side airbag 121 and the second side airbag 122 are inflated and deployed at the same time is shown in fig. 2, this is merely for the sake of easy understanding of the operation position at the time of inflation and deployment of the side airbag apparatus 12 in the vehicle seat assembly according to the invention, and in reality, only one, but not both, of the first side airbag 121 and the second side airbag 122 will be inflated when the vehicle 100 is involved in a collision. As will be understood with reference to fig. 2, the first side airbag 121 is designed to be deployed when the vehicle seat 11 faces the front of the vehicle, and the second side airbag 122 is designed to be deployed when the vehicle seat 11 faces the rear of the vehicle. It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the terms "first side airbag" and "second side airbag" are merely for descriptive convenience and are not limited to the cases described in the above embodiments, for example, the first side airbag may be deployed when the vehicle seat 11 faces the rear of the vehicle, and the second side airbag may be deployed when the vehicle seat 11 faces the front of the vehicle. Preferably, the first side airbag 121 is designed to have a smaller volume in a deployed state than the second side airbag 122 in a deployed state in consideration of the auxiliary protection effect of the B-pillar, and those skilled in the art will appreciate that this is merely an example and the side airbag apparatus in the vehicle seat assembly according to the present invention is not limited thereto, and for example, the two side airbags may be designed to have as large a volume in a deployed state. In order to occupy less space, the first side airbag 121 and the second side airbag 122 may be folded at first and then stored in the vehicle seat 11, and the folding may be performed, for example, by simultaneously winding a portion of the side airbag from the left and right edges thereof to the center, or by simultaneously winding a portion of the side airbag from the upper and lower edges thereof to the center and then simultaneously winding the portion of the side airbag from the left and right edges thereof to the center, or by using another airbag folding method selected by those skilled in the art from the prior art. The structure of the side airbag device 12 in the vehicle seat assembly according to the embodiment of the invention will be described in more detail with reference to fig. 3.
Fig. 3 shows a schematic configuration diagram of a side airbag apparatus in a vehicle seat according to an embodiment of the present invention. A side airbag device in a vehicle seat according to an embodiment of the invention will be described in further detail below with reference to fig. 3.
As shown in fig. 3, the side airbag apparatus 12 includes a controller and a gas generator in addition to the first side airbag 121 and the second side airbag 122 described above. The controller (not shown) and the gas generators (i.e., the first gas generator 123 and the second gas generator 124 in fig. 3) of the side airbag apparatus 12 are described below.
The controller is used to determine the orientation of the vehicle seat 11 and detect an impact signal to output a control signal. The controller determining the orientation of the vehicle seat 11 may be performed by a sensor, which accordingly comprises a sensor that may be provided on the seat back and/or the seat base for detecting whether a passenger is seated on the vehicle seat and for determining the orientation of said vehicle seat. For example, the sensor includes a weight sensor provided on the seat back that determines that the vehicle seat is oriented forward or rearward by detecting a pressure signal from the front side or the rear side of the seat back. For another example, the sensor includes an optical sensor provided on the seat back that determines that the vehicle seat is oriented forward or rearward by detecting an optical signal from the front side or the rear side of the seat back. It will be understood by those skilled in the art that in the side airbag device according to the present invention, the controller may employ any detection device capable of detecting the orientation of the vehicle seat without being limited to the above sensor.
The gas generator is configured to generate gas to inflate the first-side airbag 121 or the second-side airbag 122 based on a control signal of the controller, such that the first-side airbag 121 deploys when the vehicle seat 11 faces the front of the vehicle and the second-side airbag 122 deploys when the vehicle seat faces the rear of the vehicle. Specifically, in the embodiment shown in fig. 3, the gas generator includes a first gas generator 123 and a second gas generator 124, the first gas generator 123 being configured to inflate the first side airbag 121, and the second gas generator 124 being configured to inflate the second side airbag 122. The vehicle seat assembly according to the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments. For example, in the vehicle seat assembly according to the invention, the number of gas generators is not limited to two, for example, the number of gas generators may be set to only one, and the gas generators may also be designed to include a first vent path that is in fluid communication with the first side airbag for inflating the first side airbag, and a second vent path that is in fluid communication with the second side airbag for inflating the second side airbag.
The operation of the vehicle seat assembly according to the present invention will be described below.
When the vehicle 100 is impacted, the controller of the side airbag device 12 detects the impact signal and determines the orientation of the vehicle seat 11 to output a control signal;
the gas generator generates gas to inflate the first side airbag 121 or the second side airbag 122 based on a control signal of the controller;
the first side airbag 121 is deployed when the vehicle seat 11 faces the front of the vehicle, and the second side airbag 122 is deployed when the vehicle seat faces the rear of the vehicle.
Therefore, in the vehicle seat assembly according to the present invention, one side airbag is adapted to be deployed with the vehicle seat facing forward of the vehicle, and the other side airbag is adapted to be deployed with the vehicle seat facing rearward of the vehicle, the two side airbags are not in fluid communication with each other, and it is possible to determine which of the two side airbags needs to be inflated by the gas generator by judging the orientation of the vehicle seat before the side airbags are inflated and deployed. Therefore, the vehicle seat assembly according to the present invention can provide protection to the occupant in both cases where the occupant is seated toward the front of the vehicle and seated toward the rear of the vehicle, and is higher in safety.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is also provided a vehicle comprising one or more of the vehicle seat assemblies described above to improve the safety of the vehicle.
As described above, although the exemplary embodiments of the present invention have been described in the description with reference to the drawings, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and the scope of the present invention should be defined by the claims and their equivalents.
