The terms "liquid pervious" and "liquid impervious" refer to the penetrability of materials in the context of the intended use of disposable absorbent articles. In particular, the term "liquid-permeable" refers to a layer or a layered structure having pores, openings, and/or interconnected void spaces that permit liquid (e.g., water) to enter or pass through its thickness under typical conditions of use (e.g., without the application of substantial or non-representative pressure). Conversely, the term "liquid-impermeable" refers to a layer or a layered structure through the thickness of which a liquid (e.g., water) cannot pass in the absence of a forcing pressure (e.g., under typical use conditions). A layer or a layered structure that is liquid impermeable according to this definition may be permeable to liquid vapor, i.e., may be "vapor permeable". As is well known in the art, one common method for measuring the permeability to water of the materials typically used in absorbent articles is a hydrostatic pressure test, also known as a hydrostatic head test or simply a "hydrohead" test.
The term "non-skin-contact surface side" refers to the side facing the clothing of the wearer (i.e., the side opposite the skin side of the wearer) in both the front and back surfaces of each member of the absorbent article when worn. The term "skin-contact surface side" refers to the side of the front and back surfaces of each member that is disposed on the skin of the wearer when worn.

In some embodiments, the liquid impermeable backsheet 5 is substantially impermeable to liquids (e.g., urine), the liquid impermeable backsheet material may also consist of more than one layer, wherein the outer layer of the liquid impermeable backsheet 5 (often referred to as the backsheet) may be made of a soft nonwoven material and the inner layer of the backsheet may be made of a substantially impermeable film, such as a thermoplastic breathable film having a thickness of from about 0.012mm to about 0.051 mm. The layers may be joined together using an adhesive or any other suitable material or method. Other suitable backsheet materials may include breathable materials that permit vapors to escape from the disposable absorbent article 1 while still preventing exudates from passing through the liquid impermeable backsheet 5. Exemplary breathable materials may include materials such as woven webs, nonwoven webs, and composites such as nonwoven webs coated with a film layer. Although a variety of backsheet configurations are contemplated herein, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various other changes and modifications may be made.
The absorbent core layer 4 can be any absorbent member that is generally compressible, non-irritating to the wearer's skin, and capable of absorbing and retaining liquids such as menstrual fluid and other certain body exudates. The absorbent core is not limited to upper and lower fibrous web layers with a mixed layer of fluff pulp fibers and superabsorbent polymer in between, examples of other suitable absorbent materials include cellulose wadding; the absorption core layer of the disposable absorption article provided by the invention is formed into a three-dimensional core layer through a grinding wheel, and the crushed fluff pulp fibers and the super water-absorbing polymer are fully mixed and then formed in the grinding wheel. The grinding wheel provided by the invention has different negative pressures and different shapes in different areas of the absorption core, and the three-dimensional effect of the core body is realized through the negative pressure and the shape of the grinding wheel.
